  1. Any idea if we're getting a vest/and or a backpack (like Hawkins) with Poncho? I'm just worried he looks a bit like he could be confused for a rebel without one or the other. Also, that grenade launcher would be sweet. I'm guessing there is more that is not shown. Anna for instance isn't shown with her sniper rifle.
  2. Ah, ok. I forget. I'm more of an Alien nerd. My bad.
  3. Nice. Could include him with a Deluxe Huey Helicopter set, for the end scene. Dusty Dutch. Anna. Pilot. Could reuse/variant the Huey for a beginning roping in scene too, with attachable rope pieces. Hawkins with Comic book. Blain with Jerky bag. More ideas! Laughing predator with open wrist computer. Log effect piece? Scared face fleeing Dutch. Skinned victims. Vine effect stand piece, to hang victims upside down from. Scared face Billy. (Regular Billy face included so collectors who buy multiples to army build skinned victims, and whom already have Billy can display him in alternate "machete dual" format) Guerilla soldier enemies, one could have an option part similar to the chest burster part from the alien line, but instead with a machete, for that "stick around" scene, plus a wall effect stand to be pinned to. Triumphant/Trophy collector Predator, with skull/vertebra piece to hold up. "Jungle Demon" Predator, A la NECA, with Scared Mac. "You son of a b!&£#" set with double pegged hand piece to allow (red shirt) Dutch and (shirt and tie) Mac to link arms. General Philips. Battle cry (variant muddy) Dutch with battle cry face, and Predator with glowing wrist blades. Tree branch stand? Bonfire effect piece? All I got for now. A lot of my ideas often stray into deluxe sets, or would be dioramas/playsets. Has DST ever really done this with minimates? I know it raises the price point. But in my mind minimates are always most impressive in large numbers, or arranged in diorama style set ups. The prime example of this being the way Lego does it. I always wonder too, if despite higher costs, lines might do better releasing larger sets/or assortments at a time. As completionists/collectors will research and await gradual releases to build a complete team of say Marvel Avengers, or Predator, or Aliens squad/cast, but casual buyers (to whom the viability of lines ultimately ride upon) won't appreciate the chase/waiting, or have the "vision" to imagine how novel/impressive a complete set might look. But they might be if the whole "team" were attractively packaged as one. It would be a completely different approach to the collecting mentality, cutting straight to the chase. And perhaps it would be a poorer one, for not having as many variants, and side characters packed alongside "key players" that people want. But as I said, perhaps it would yield more casual buys. As I write this I realise the folly of this whole idea. Offer more "complete" sets, to ensure longer line longevity. Hmm, paradox much. Can't have your cake and eat it.
  4. Posting this here, as the captcha form seems to be broken on AskDST. And to gauge your interest. (Please don't tell me I'm misreading that..! ). My Ask: Hi Chuck, How about a Tomb Raider legacy line? Spanning all the games. Gamingheads have a 20 years of an icon series of statues coming soon (a year late). And there is a new movie on the way too, to boost brand interest. You could have: A massive number of Lara outfits/variants available. Supernatural enemies: Egyptian mummy/Atlantian enemies. Yetis. Skeletons. Dinosaur enemies: Raptors, a vs. T-Rex deluxe set would be incredible. Animal enemies: Bears (incl. Polar), tigers, wolves, sharks, spiders, bats. A deluxe Kraken/octopus set. Deluxe trap sets: Boulder escape (a la Indiana Jones). Spike pit jump/swing. Laser fence/museum set. Additionally, Lara Vinimates. Or any other figures, statues of the above. Luke. Far fetched to expect enough commercial viability here, I know.. Anyone else wish this could be?
  5. Reminiscent of the one in Prometheus. Good for both.
  6. I have the large electronic Arachnid Warrior from Starship Troopers by Galoob. Wish another company would do Starship Troopers. First review I've seen for the TRU Space Jockey set: And a written review of the specialty version: http://kastorskorner.com/wp/minimates-space-jockey-rounds-alien-collection/
  7. Yes, thanks. Not meaning to imply impatience, just saying.. Got quite carried away with my message, so many ideas! I'm sure I'm not the only one. Must be a quite a mail sack to get through!
  8. SWEET! These look great! I'm thinking those silhouettes might not necessarily be representative of all three of those aliens. Probably just place holder for some. So not necessarily just repaints. https://youtu.be/fcTPhAp3Ax8?t=83
  9. Bioshock, YES! I fired this among others at them in a AskDST message. No response yet. (It was a lengthy message.. :P)
  10. I agree, and their mediocrity was their downfall I'm sure. But if people are paying those prices, especially when they're not good, then surely that shows the demand. If a company like NECA had made figures, I'm sure they'd of done well. We'll likely never know. Now McFarlane are making "action figures", more correctly statues, they probably won't sell well again. Because they're not good enough for action figure collectors, who want decent articulation, and neither for statue collectors, who expect better paint apps and scale. I don't know. Maybe I'm am wrong about it all and they're really isn't enough of a market for ME. Just wishful thing. Just had a bad vibe recently, seems everything is being straggled by the need to hugely profitable. Movies, games, figures. It is dream of mine (a pipe dream so far) to start making my own customs, for all these uneconomical wants. Hence the name, TooNiche.
  11. I'd like to know too. I don't know where merchandising companies get their information from. Is it all based on whether retailers "show an interest"? And if so, where do they get their information? In this age of communication, I'm surprised more companies don't levy the internet in the way Kickstarter does. Argh, I hate economics. I get it. But damn, I really thought MM could deliver more considering the simplicity of their form. Aliens got me on board in a big way, and that line is doing well, and I hope continues to flourish. For me, to be honest, Minimates were never my first choice, but the relative lack of ME merch in general lead me to MM as way of fulfilling a somewhat complete representation in my collections. It amazes and saddens me the lack of merch for such a beloved franchise. Dark horse did ships, but ridiculously overpriced for the size and quality. And Reapers, the only one I've ever seen is the $300 statue. PAK did a few figures, of which some were terrible (shepard face), the better ones are now very expensive. Big fish did some, which again are expensive after market. What should this tell manfacturers?! There's a demand here. But, if you make crap quality product and/or overprice of course people won't buy it. And then they attribute this to lack of interest! Then there's no hope for anything! I feel like I'm ending on a downer too. I would join that conversation, but I feel it would be pointless. First world problems aye! I need to learn how to start making my own customs, for everything! Only way to satisfy.
  12. By all accounts this show is massive. I can't imagine why they wouldn't do this.
  13. Andromeda is almost here. Hopefully DST is just waiting for player feedback, before deciding what characters to make. Also, I'd still like more from the original trilogy. Saren Matriarch Benezia Legion Joker EDI Thane Samara Jack Cpt. Kirrahe Reaper Soldiers Geth soldiers Thorian Creepers Collector General Collector soldiers Blasto Hanar Spectre How about ships? Or a Mako? Deluxe sets. For both? ME Trilogy A ME1 Normandy, with Joker. ME2/3 Normandy (2x mold use, easy repaint), with EDI. A REAPER! Sovereign. With Saren. (option parts to make end boss Saren.) Geth Dreadnought, with Geth soldier. Destiny Ascension, with the Citadel council. Collector ship, with Collector General/soldiers Mako (Clean and Battle damaged), with helmeted Shepard/Liara/Garrus etc. Pyjak? The Thorian, with Shiala clone, Creepers. Rachni Queen, with soldiers. ME Andromeda TBD Tempest. Was any of this considered? Did the line under perform?
  14. Is there any chance of Abrams Trek minimates? I was watching Into Darkness again the other night and I would love a minimates Enterprise and USS Vengeance. How epic would it be to reenact that stand off scene! For that matter I looked into other models and it seems difficult to find both ships in the same scale. Matchbox does some that are close. And Eaglemoss do some nice ships, but not in scale with each other.
  15. And is there still a TRU exclusive set? Black coloured jockey.
  16. Like ChrisHarrison1982, I too am new to minimates, and started collecting thanks to the Aliens line, and then Predator. I didn't think I would ever collect this scale, I'm more into 7" scale, but the breadth of this line alone converted me. Now I have every Aliens minimate produced, and all the Predator minimates from the first film. It's such a shame here in the UK, availability makes it challenging to collect, I've had to import many times. I wish at least one retailer would fully support minimates, or that DST had a presence here that I was able to buy from directly. I'm hoping this line goes on and on. I too want a dropship. I'm especially fond of the idea of a Queen Alien egg sack/hive set. What is the biggest set/deluxe minimates have ever done? Do you think it's feasible? The majesty of it alone, I think it would sell like hotcakes. No one else has ever managed to give us this, so surely if 2" scale can't manage it, what hope do we have.
