AdyCarter
Hello, enjoy some answers the lovely folks are Art Asylum have provided us with for some of those questions that have been occupying our every thought. Many thanks to all parties involved, especially Donna for giving up her valuable time to answer these. Speed Racer Q> Will the Speed Racer minimates/figures/toys be released in the mass market or only the specialty stores? ArtAsylum> The SR is right now in TRU. Specialty is also carrying it. It's a bit new, so it's going to take a little work to get everyone interested. The new look will need to catch on. http://www.Speedracerlives.com will hopefully help get the word out! LOTR Q> Was the LOTR minimate line successful for AA? ArtAsylum> This was when we were teamed up with Play Along. The license was actually held under PA. AA was lucky enough to share the license for Minimates with them. It didn't really go "mass" as far as monetary success, but it was a great license for us to work on. TRU yes, but that was about as much support we got on it. Q> Was it lack of demand and retailer support that caused wave 3 to not get released? ArtAsylum> Yes, we had actually tooled up and had line 3 ready to go, but retail was already shying away from anything LOTR. The market was just saturated. No one wanted it. Some small specialty people wanted it, but 100 pcs is not enough to warrant production on a line as detail intensive as it was. Q> The mystery of the Blue Frodo: was it supposed to be a variant or exclusive or simply a change in materials used to make him? ArtAsylum> HA! Blue Frodo! We were looking at reference and saw that Toybiz had done a "Twilight" Frodo and we thought blue. New line was not thrilled withit and insisted on clear..so, 'accidentally' blue was out there. They also decided that it should be white and black deco. BSG Q> Why where the images shown for the lineups of BSG different at SDCC compared to what we've seen before, is the line finalized yet? ArtAsylum> The original lineup everyone saw was from Feb. toyfair, maybe even October! We were planning on doing the ships with the figures and geared the lineup towards that. Over time, things changed and we decided to team up with DST and get more out there. With that, come meetings and changes. Either way, all the figures will be coming out, maybe just shifted around alittle bit.
