Quitting Smoking

I'm cig free, for a month and a half, after eight years of a pack a day habit. Not trying to brag, just wanted to show that it can be done. I've saved a bunch of money, and feel a whole lot better. If anyone needs a quit buddy, let me know. I know it was tough for me doing it on my own. Just putting it out there.

Way to go man!

I personally have no problem with people smoking, and get offended when others try and impose on people the view of "you're evil". I don't see anything wrong with it (it's just another way to die) though I myself don't smoke, I get the same effect by breathing in brush fire smoke.

Still, I'm happy you've stuck with it!

thanks. minimates were a pretty good crutch too. I bought mates after work every night for the first week. lol anyone need a duff?

I will be quitting also very soon. 19 years of a pack a day habit. (I turn 31 this Saturday)

It is going to be rough!

Congrats! My dad tried to quit a few years for health reasons, and just couldn't do it. He had smoked since he was about 12, so his brain is hard-wired (of course, your brain chemistry changes the first time you smoke, as the nicotine works its "magic"). Cigarette smoke immediately triggers a migraine headache for me, so following TM's post, I think they should be banned in public places, which thankfully, we are moving toward here. I don't care what someone does as long as it doesn't hurt others, but my migraine headaches are not pleasant. They are actually indescribably excruciating.

^kinda what I was going for, though I don't see why you can't have smoking and non smoking, or have smoking on the patio. The only time it bothers be is when you have both smoking and non smoking, and there's nothing between them. Why separate it at all? How hard is it to put a wall up with a door? The thing that bothers me is some places around here have bans on smoking while on the sidewalk, and other crazy stuff like that. WTF? Where do you want people to smoke at?
