I got so excited when I saw this thread bumped especially when I saw it was TBT who posted. Only to find that they were still dead.

These mates are very much like the forthcoming movie in that they both look terrible. Absolutely terrible.

It's really easy they send a box with packing supplies and a return label you put your 360 take it to the UPS store and send it and it comes back when they have repaired it it takes a couple weeks then it will be good as new.

Anyone else wish we were getting the Civil War Spider-Man figure in this wave?

Most of us got that figure in the awesome Civil War boxset. I have an extra if you are interested.

When this contest was announced I decided that I would finally try my hand at a real custom. My lord it was more than a little difficult. He was made from a Kilowog head and chestpiece, Bane legs, Gorrila Grodd hand, Aries feet. The horns are sculpty. This is the first thing I have ever painted. Dremeling the Right hand of doom was difficult as well. Horns on the head also hard. I am pleased with the color but not the details. The easiest parts were the hooves and tail. The tail is the last piece of the tail on the animated Hellboy that came with the Blood and Stone DVD. The gun is from the Indiana Jones motorcycle set and was cut to fit in his hand.

So I live in Valdosta, Ga. It's a small town of about 50k people give or take and we were one of the 20 finalist for Titletown due to droves of high school championships (mostly football) and the recent smattering of NCAA Division II championships (again mostly football). Well we won. Beating out Boston, LA, Green Bay, Detroit, etc. It's kind of cool.

Don't get too hopeful guys, Shane & I managed to pin Mr Brewer in a corner today and asked about DC Mates.

In short the situation is that because they could only sell to specialty stores (Due to licensing) they weren't making any money on the line, although he said they weren't loosing money either.

He said he hates to say anthing is dead But it was VERY unlikely and IF anything did happened they might look at box sets.

So from the horses mouth, It's Still dead guys...

I fucking knew it. The whole purpose of that statement was to silence the fan outcry. Sucks. If they were not losing money on them then why not make simple cost saving changes to the line to where they are turning a profit? I rather know they were defiantly dead then for DC to give a glimmer of hope without any real intention to follow through.

Awesome. I'm not going to get too exited though until I see a formal announcement.

I would be surprised if The Joker did not appear in the sequel and I would cast none other than the second of the Brokeback couple Jake Gyllenhaal as The Joker. Think about it we already know he can be over the top and deranged from his performances in Jarhead and Donnie Darko. I believe he is perfect for it and with all the make up and prosthetics on there will not be a very noticeable difference. Plus it would give us a chance to see Dr. Harleen Quinzel aka Harley Quinn. The Riddler would be cool but I don't think it will be Reese and I don't think that even if The Riddler knows his secret identity in the movie, like he does in the comic, he would tell anyone because as Batman said at the end of the Hush story in reference to the Riddler knowing his secret, "What fun is a riddle that everyone knows the answer to?"

The movie was good overall, but I absolutely HATE Christian Bale's "Bat-growl" voice when he is Batman. It is so over-the-top that it ruins the character for me and I'm a huuuuge Batman fan.

The Joker and Two-Face were definitely the best parts of the flick. Both actors nailed the characters perfectly.

I think that the growl is necessary. The Batman is made to strike fear into the hearts of criminals and his regular voice is not scary. Plus it has to do with the theatricality of the character.

And I've never read Watchmen.

I want to see The Day the Earth Stood Still. That one looked awesome.

If you are going to quote Kevin Smith at least give the props sir. I agree though Dark Knight is pure genius. Best comic book movie ever. Now if DC could only apply this goodness to their other franchises. BTW who saw the ridiculously awesome Watchman trailer. WOW.

How do you make a Fezzik? Easy! Do him as a 3" with a bulky jacket, like Kingpin. Heck, there's probably several medieval-style pieces they could borrow from the whole LOTR line to flesh out a Princess Bride set.

And I'm sorry to say minimadman, Desperately Seeking Susan is a movie that ended up becoming a licensed property for Minimates, so why not a movie that, as far as I'm concerned, people actually care about?

I agree Desperately Seeking Susan is a terrible idea for a property. But I don't feel that Princess Bride is much better and it's not because I don't like the movie. I love Princess Bride I just don't think that it is visually interesting enough for the medium. I think that in minimate form they would be boring.

I love the Princess Bride but do we really want minimates for every movie? And does that movie translate well into minimates? How would a Fezzik minimate ever work? So all you would get is Westley, Inigo, Buttercup, and Humperdink or The man with 6 fingers. Me, I'd pass. I'd rather hound them for something more translatable to the medium. Because without Fezzik what's the point.

The only thing is I'm not really impressed with it's DVD upconvert... It looks better, but I can't get it to take up the entire screen. Not sure what the problem is there... It's like it's letterboxed, but on the sides as well as the top... Weird

Check the DVD because if it is not anamorphic widescreen then it will do that.

I'm looking at buying a PS3 strictly as a Blu Ray player - I'm not much of a gamer, and we have a Wii already. My 8 year old has a PSP, but that's the only Playstation product that we have.

Anyway, should I be looking at a 40gb or 80gb PS3?

the only real difference between them is the 80 gig one is backwards compatible and has more storage. I bought a 40 gig lastyear also just for the bluray player. Although Uncharted: Drakes Fortune is a really fun game. as is MLB 08 The Show.
