  1. I care that is who cares I care so much it hurts sometimes I care so much I feel not just my pain but yours and by yours I mean you the MMMV not just you reading this post or you the person that read it after the person that read this post. I care so much that I am willing to do whatever it takes to make you care too. I care sooo much that for you I will take that bullet and make it my own. Seriously I care, cause I care.

    Hey Bro,

I really hope you are joking...That sounds like some David Koresh type of ish...

By the way, I got like 3 free packages from DST. Thanks DST, you are the BEST!

  2. You know, I see it both ways. The older mates were classic with the simple styles and accessories. Helmet here, chest piece there, etc.

But with newer, more detailed designers and ideas, it appears that the line has adapted to making changes to capture the essence of the character (i.e. Leader, Kilowag, etc.), rather than the essence of the block figure style (i.e. promo 2" mates, my personal favorite).

I think the newer adaptations are an attempt to expand the toys mass appeal, for the most part, which is good, but there are obviously some people that appreciate the classics.

I think of Minimates like this; I compare Symbiote Spidey to a 1961 Lincoln Continental (Isaac Hayes style), and the newer, more detailed mates like a new 2008 Mercedes Benz CL550. Some love classic rides, and some love the new technology.

Me, I like them both. Rock On!

  3. When I first started collecting, I told myself I was not going to get the c3 sets. Now I have all expet the two hardest to get, the copter, and the javelin.

My advice is get all of them, because you will regret passing them up later.

  4. Getting defensive? If I were getting defensive I'd say quit yer whining. ;)

Instead, I say, relax, we all go through a little slump. It happens. Take a break. We'll be here when you return.

    Shane,

"I'm out" was me going out of town to Nashville for 1 day for work. I would not let Timothy rile me up. It sounds like he needs some excitement in his life...

In the interest's of not coming across like I'm picking a fight I'm not going to make a joke about sexual preferences here! Damn tempting though it might be....

Don't be a bitch Timmy. Takes one to know one.

  5. Funny, I didn't start this thread, but it seems like my post hit home to some. I have and will continue to log in almost every day (Shane, you can check that), and post frequently. I have good positive feedback from trades, etc. I am down with the site, totally. I appreciate the "it is what you make it" speech, but my post was not for MMMV staff to get all defensive, it was to say that the figures are great, and slumping (for this guy who started posts like this) comes from the newer members who are having a harder time (time and money) getting the harder to find mates. Trade references are more geared towards you that are hording 20 Super Skrulls and the new kid who did not start collecting until 2007 who has to pay $20 + bucks for it on ebay. I feel worse for the UK guys. I bid on the Blood mates, Fujis, only to be outbid, but I am an active supporter of the toys and this community, and if what I posted struck a cord with anyone, TBT, then you may need to point the finger back towards yourselves. I have every right to express my opinion just like the guy who posted this thread. I was not posting to offend, just to share. Loosen up.

Thanks to Andy for starting this site, Shane for running it, TBT for the contests and many other contributions, Fujis for the MMHQ and community service, and the other staff for making yourselves available.

But most of all, thanks to all the great customizers, and DST for being the best!

    I'm out...

  6. I have been more disinterested in the MMMV. It has been really boring here lately. All I read is people bitchin' about something or another, requesting obscure figures that only a few people want, and hating on the attempts DST makes to reach a broader crowd. No one seems to know exact release dates on anything, so the info is partly unreliable. The MMMV stars have not spent much time making these threads exciting (minus the photo hunt). And, with MMCentral closed, and the MMHeadquarters scaresly updated, there is no shine out there. Most of the guys who own the rare mates don't want to trade / sell them. The one new cool site, MMDatabase, is a look but don't touch teaser. Ebay is way overpriced, and none of the LCS's can ever touch older Minimates.

    This thread is depressing...

  7. I was thinking about buying some rad wall mounted, glass display cases and going all out. Maybe after I complete the collection. Only a few more to go...

Excuse me baby, but there's only one Rad. And he does the mounting!

    Oh yeah!

    Glass display High Five!

    Good one!

I'll set 'em up, you knock 'em down

  8. Nice set up WW4M.

One of these days I'll take shots of mine. Currently I'm out of room and I still have another 30-ish to set up & display. Trying to figure out how to add height to my display without altering/taking away from what I've got going already. :(

I was tempted to complete the task of setting up all of my doubles, but as most of have plenty, I also have tons of doubles. I am way too lazy for that...

  9. I buy everything Minimates that is released, and sometimes I get doubles or triples. I sometimes buy for my brother, who is broke, so I sometimes go double, sometimes go triple.

I have used EBAY for some of the older stuff, but I must say that Ebay sellers are pushing these Minimates prices way too high! I have a limit on what I will overspend, and I wish more bidders did the same. Do not get suckered into overpaying on Ebay!
