  1. Trekker,

Forsyth County Georgia is so tightwad-ish, that I don't even speed when I drive through there. Talk about good ol' boys!

Let me explain my TBT comment:

TBT is like the drunk uncle at your family reunion. He is definitely over the top, but it just would not be the same without him.

I love you Tim, in a non-gay, internet forum, friendly kind of way.

Props to MMHQ also, as I check it all the time. KEEP THAT MESS GOING! Good Job!

Props to AFX for giving me some free shipping! Bout' time!

    You live in Georgia?

If so, where do you get your mates?

    Trekker,

I live in Atlanta. I get my mates at Oxford Comics on Peidmont Road.

Props to Trekker for being cool enough to try to steal my Minimate connect away from me.

Props to me for telling him. That not only makes me awesome, on top of uncontrollably man-sexy!

Wonder why TBT has no props to give?

Props to my ridiculous Minimate collection (WOW!)!

  3. So,

Props where props are due. This thread is for anyone who wants to give props to Minimates, Retailers, MMMV, or whatever.

Props to DST for making great new products. I never thought I would care for the new series, and Licenses, but I like them all.

Props to Corner Store Comics, who always gives me good prices, has what I want, and ships that shizzy fast.

Props to Shane, for not being a Douchebag.

Props to TBT, for being the resident alky-Douchebag.

    That is all I got.

  4. Ok so I've been exploring cheap and temporary storage methods for some of my mini's...

Mostly because I had a LOT of loose mates floating around my desk & workspace and wanted to move some of the newer waves to my display cases and find a semi decent place for those that were being evicted as an archive of sorts.

On a whim I ordered the following... a Hotwheels "over the door" display case...

It actually works very well for 2" mates, the 2.5" LotR mates needed a little finese to get them into their pockets but they definitely fit.

Sure it's not that pretty and will be living inside my cupboard but If anyone is looking for a dirt cheap display option ($15 +shipping) or simply like me a nice way to 'store' older mates and has the back of a door free then this isn't a bad option.

    T.

    T and other Minimate Dudnesses,

I scooped that same HW display on a clearance rack from Wal Mart for .50cents. I only found 1, but it does work well. This was around Xmas time.

  5. So,

I am sitting here opening wave 19 & 20 and reading this thread, struggling to get archangels wings on. I am saying to myself, "F-that. I ain't using no damn water...etc., etc.".

So, in typical ignorant me fashion, I get up, microwave a plastic cup (probably not good to nuke plastic, kids) of water for 1 minute, dip the wings in, and they go on perfectly...

I wanted to share how much of a douche I really am.

  6. Guys,

I am pretty sure XvashX just means to think out loud on how to reach more folks to promote the brand more.

    Very noble, indeed...

The truth is, it all comes down to sales. The best way we all can help is to buy more. The alternative is to try to get a job at DST to help get product placement in stores, and buy more minimates.

    I am down 4 anything...

  7. I just don't understand why DCD haven't picked up on the direct sales model. Hasbro seems to do just fine selling directly to the consumer online, and lapping up all of the gravy left over between cost and MSRP – profit that usually goes to a retailer.

They'd probably have just as many sales, if not more, as if they stuck with their traditional LCS model.

This is a very intelligent business strategy. I like it. If all 1,000 or so MMMV memebrs were offered boxsets online, they would make just as much money selling 1,000-1,500 sets online, cutting out the middleman, then selling 3,000 pieces to retailers.

But F - DCD if they are cutting off Minimates.

  8. Hey, this is slightly off-topic, but not completely off-topic, but I didn't want to start a brand new thread about it, but anyway, I'd like to ask, has anyone ever ordered from Cornerstorecomics.com?

See, reason I ask is, usually I track down all my minimates myself the morning of release, because my local comic book stores usually get them on time with variants available. But with 19 & 20 I was thrown for a loop when the west coast shipments (where I live) actually came in the same time as the east coast shipments. I lost my week of cushion time and was caught with my pants down, so to speak.

As such, I obviously wasn't expecting my comic book store to get them today, and I didn't find out they -did- get them until it was too late to buy the variants, so rather than buy the normal sets and try to track down the variants later, I thought, since I still need to order a Zombie Iron Man/Black Panther set anyway, I figured I could just do that, and at the same time order the complete sets of 19 & 20 online... and wait a tad longer. Because lots of places are still offering full sets with variants for order, as well as the zombie pack I need.

Now I was going to buy the sets of 19 & 20 at ShopAFX.com, whom I've ordered from many times in the past, and know I'll get what I pay for from... but frankly i've never been happy with their shipping rates... and since Cornerstorecomics.com not only offered both sets for a cheaper price, but their shipping rates were less as well, I decided to go with them this time instead.

BUT, because I've never ordered from cornerstorecomics, I'm just a touch worried... not for any particular reason... just new vendor jitters I guess... never bought from them... don't know what to expect.

So I figured I'd ask if anyone else has experience with Corner Store, and if I made a wise decision or not? What is the likelihood I will get my series 19 & 20 sets in a -relatively- timely matter? Are they slow/fast? If there's a problem, will they help?

Any input ya'll could give me would be greatly appreciated.

They are perfect sellers, and are 100% reliable as far as shipping and prices. I do alot of business with them. Never once had a problem. And, no, I do not work for the company.

  9. To all of the Minimate-ateers on this site:

THEY listen. I have been threading about IM mates for a year! This is big...

On the ST MM's, Troy better have big jugs when her figure is released or I will riot!

Long live the mates! I think we all should be proud of how devoted we are to purchasing these toys.

Also, this continuation of MM's could possibly end my relationship.

Anyone reading this is a BIG F'in NERD. Not only are you grown, you are buying toys AND typing about them.

    Guilty as charged.

  10. 8 Classics, 11 Moderns, 5 Sci Fi's, and 1 Elf. 25 total. I think that is all. With all of the new cylons coming, and have never watched the show, I guess I should check it out. I keep buying them...

I need a non-bloody elf if someone wants to barter.

  11. AFX is pretty much hit or miss. I ordered most of the minimates that came out over the last 6 months, and right now they are on my sh*t list. I ordered BSG 3 set and Rocky/Adrian in November. It is now February...no package.
