  1. I think I'm obsessed with Star Trek, at least everybody I know tells me I am, but I have a long way to go before I can actually induce coma in someone. However, I was almost admitted myself to A&E when on a night out with my husband's office. Last night we were sitting in an Asian restauraunt, and I was sitting oposite this guy who is a trekker. This was fine ~ actually more than fine because I rarely get to talk Star Trek with anyone in the flesh ~ so to speak. But then we got onto the subject of Manga and Anime ~ two things that I dare not get involved with due to my not really needing another obsession. I unwisely mentioned Chobits ~ only because I'd seen these unlikely proportioned action figures in the Forbidden Planet catalogue and the strangeness of them intrigued me. This was a bad mistake. The guy's eyes began glitteringin a strange way and a flush appeared over his cheeks as he bagan to give me the entire eight~book saga in full, with absolutely no exclusions, no subplot left unturned, and every intracacy of the wired workd of "persicons" explained ......in full. Oh yes, by the time he was finished, my eyes had glazed over; my brain had turned to liquid and was sloshing about between my ears, and I was about as vacant as the persicon the hero found thrown out with the trash. Streuth. If ever I get that obsessed kindly shoot me ...it would be a kindness.
  2. I was thinking that Shanester was about to get hitched! A beach wedding in Hawaii sounds very romantic.....is SDCC your stag do? LOL! In which case, I do hope they're not going to find you in your boxer shorts, gaffer~taped to a dealer's stall, with DC minimates sticking out of your ears ~ you having aboslutely no recollection whatsover of the last 12 hours ~ your last memory being the Donster handing you a large beer and saying "drink up Shanester, you only have 20 more of these to go!"
  3. Mine's correct ~ just scary to think there may be 47 other Julie Copes in the world! Just a thought Ady, it IS possible that some of the fake e-mail addys weren't intentional. If I remember rightly, I had trouble actually seeing what I was typing in certain mandatory fields on the registration form because it was white type on yellow.
  4. ^^^Yay! Totalus kat's up working!! You did Shinzon!!
  5. Streuth! Fatheadcookie has a serious rival!!
  6. ^^^You know, that was curiously satisfying in its own way too! Actually, that was a stunning end to the match, I think it's hard to go out of a tournament on a penalty shoot~out.
  7. Normally, I'm none too happy with a one~goal win from a penalty ~ however ~ in this case I am utterly delighted! I wonder what chance there is of Ronaldo being booeed at MU as vigourously as he was last night? Did his position there just come untennable? There needed to be a few more yellow cards handed out to persistant divers, and someone needs to tell Scolari to sit down and shut up! I hope the Germans thrash them into fourth place on Saturday! IMO, France don't stand an earthly against Italy, but let's hope Italy don't score too soon ~ else it will be a really boring cup final.
  8. ^^^No, it'll be like the Enterprise E AA made us all wait two years for!! (And then it was so disappointing I didn't even buy one!) I stopped checking out AA's homapge ages ago.
  9. BRENT CRAIG!! Aw, bless them both! (For the unitiated, he was a guy who used to refer to himself in the third person ). Reideeen: Why don't you regard this as a fresh start away from AA, roll up your sleeves and muck in?
  10. Wow! :o Sorry guys! I never thought all of this would ensue and I wish I never pointed that name out ~ it just struck me as a really funny 'snapshot' of the good~old~bad~old~days of the AA forum. Like Hogwarts, we have our own Volder ~ er ~ "You~know~who" figure! Hopefully, unlike Hogwarts, we won't get the odd troll lurking in the dungeons. Anyway, like Shanester, I have to say that I got on well with both sides in the aforementioned dispute, and both of them have never been anything but really nice to me ~ but that's kind of beside the point really, because I was going to suggest that we leave the old heavy baggage at the door and move on. I think the AA forum is utterly past tense now, and I don't think it will be coming back.
  11. Hurrah!! The Kat made it!! Looking forward to seeing some more of those cool customs!
  12. ^^^Oh my!! :o Could you really? LOL!! That would really upset AA wouldn't it!! That really would be a case of the lunatics taking over the Asylum!! I think it is indeed very strange ~ and not a little spooky!
  13. This is a bit bizarre....... http://www.artasylum.com/cgi-bin/ultimateb...?ubb=forum&f=11 I was just checking out some old news at Trekweb.com and found an old article from 2002 about Art Asylum releasing the first pics of the Nemesis wave of characters. I clinked on the link they gave to the pictures, and that is what I got. It's the original FORUM domain, which still recognises me and I am still logged in as JulesLuvsShinzon...........how bizarre is that? And for those of you who want to feel a bit nostalgic...(URL supplied by Vulcanfanatic) http://web.archive.org/web/20041009124337/.../ultimatebb.cgi Those were vintage days indeed! Did you see who was logged in at the time?? ULAN!!! :o And it appears that I've just had the last toot on a political thread in Day Pass!!
  14. ^^^**Sigh** Yes indeed they do. I was saddened to see David Beckham choking back tears while reading his resignation statement. Some fear that he may never play for England again. I just found out yesterday from my sister, that she and her partner were actually at the Trinidad & Torbago match and spent the week in Germany. She said that seeing England play was "magic", and that Germany was fantastically well organised and clean. She's used to taking 3 hours to get in and out of stadia to watch Reading play, and had great praise for the autobahns and fan parks in Nuremberg. (Not so wild about the rickety Fokker 80 they made the last part of their journey in though when they had to turn back! ) She said the Germans were fantastic hosts and the atmosphere was really great and friendly, even at five in the afternoon in all that heat, and when the beer had been flowing since breakfast!! The Germans attendents saw the English fans throwing inflatable spitfires around and just laughed because they thought it was funny! The only thing the Germans seem to have an issue with was flags that were too big, they did take a couple of large flags off of fans, but beyond that, everything was brilliant!
  15. Bickering? Moi??? Perish the thought!! Seriously...the bickering has gone elsewhere!! (ST:E and I are still disagreeing heartily over Abrams vision for a new Trek over at TU...but you don't want to hear about that!! ) Nice to see you here Don, and I'm sorry to hear you've been unwell...strep throat is a pain in the rear end ~ not that that statement makes any sense whatsoever . I actually caught scarlet fever from a strep throat once. I pop in to the Minimate Arms from time to time to chat with old AA chappies who have moved here, so I'll see you down there with a pint of Old Toe Jam and a cigar!!
  16. I think he took his shot before the referee blew his whistle and the Portuguese goalie whined that he "wasn't ready"! The Portuguese whined to the ref the entire match, the REf didn't actually see Roonie strafe that portuguese player's nuts, it was the opponents who ran over and protested that swayed the ref ~ up until then he hadn't even been looking at Rooney during that insident. I think it's true that England never tries to influence the ref in that way ~ maybe we should have started with Diego Maradonna! Anybody see that wink from Ronaldo right after Rooney got sent off? Beckham looked angry that I think ~ were it not for his injured foot and missing a boot ~ he might have provided us with a whole new definition of "Golden Balls"!! I don't blame Rooney one bit ~ I judge him to be a victim of Sven's useless system of leaving a sole striker high and dry up front with no one to support him, and Sven's stupid decision to take Walcott ~ whose boots never touched the pitch ~ instead of another striker. Everytime that kid got the ball he felt under pressure to do something magical with it, and that was once the other players had stopped sending him ridiculously long passes that overshot him by miles ~ did anyone else notice that? I thought our ten men deserved to win through to the semi~finals, they were heroic. In hindsight, Lennon should have stayed in the game, since he was pretty good at getting past the Portugese defence, and Carragher added no value in the penalty shoot~out. Yah Good Riddnace to Erikson!! Too bad that that looks like it was Beckham's last World Cup match.
  17. A spoiler threed is a good idea! I missed last night's transmission as the TV schedules were messed up when England/Portugal match went to extra time and penalties. We'll have to catch the repeat on Beeb 3.
  18. Thanks! My old forum name was beginning to look a tad daft!! It's strange ~ but I'm actually in my 3rd year of loving Shinzon! I couldn't believe how good she looks ...I swear that woman looks NO different to when she was the Doctor's assistant in the 70s.
  19. I will miss it, that's for certain. And I'll miss Rose. I wonder if the new spin~off Torchwood will be as good?
  20. Without giving too much away: I actually think that Tennant has worked out really well as the new doctor. Rad is right, there have been some really peachy shows in the first season of Tennant's reigh ~ although unlike Rad ~ I've pretty well loved them all, and wouldn't necessarily agree with him (sorry Rad!) that the writing has slipped any from Eccleston's time. In any case..I meant to say to you Don, that many of my American friends have a great fondness for England and English TV. I'm just thinking, maybe the rest of the British guys will show up and we can once again open the Top Gear discussion thread once its screening resumes after the World Cup!
  21. I guess it's a kind of 70s thing keen to make a comeback, but no girl had any cred without at least two of these things ~ one dangling from a keychain, and a pencil case just wasn't a pencil case without one!
  22. I was ambling down the toy aisle at my local Asda ~ pretending to look for food, but really ogling some really neat Star Wars action figures ~ when I came across something I haven't seen in years..in fact so long ago, that the last one I saw was actually skewered on the end of a pencil I was using to write I luv the Bay City Rollers across a text book in double history! TROLLS!!! Those ugly little critters with the shocking pink hair are baaaaack!! Only this time, they come with some really neat accessories like Bratz or myscene! If you have little girls, they will want these for Christmas! How long will I be able to resist????????
  23. I voted "No". I can't see any point in going back to AA since I've managed to locate most of my old pals on other sites ~ and it's not like they gave us much actual news, that was down to Chuck DST and Rick of New Force most of the time. Crom would pop in from time to time when he was still there, and sometimes Adam....but not very often. With regard to the 'baggage' issue, I actually find that splitting my interests amongst several different forums works better for me. I talk Trek over at TU, because it's all Trekkers and we're annoying nobody else but ourselves LOL! I talk toys over at Fwoosh, moderate at Tim Brazeal's new site, and stop in to chew the fat with you guys!
  24. Thanks guys!!! Did TotalusKat show up yet? He was one cool custom designer, and I still have the design for Shinzon Jules minimate he did for me!! That was utterly fabbo!
  25. Close Encounters...I could watch it over and over again.... .... .....I have watched it over and over again!
