after the ant-man set was so much later than the film and the captain marvel one being solicited for so late i was scared this was going to be the new trend.

i happily paid $20 for a walgreens exclusive in the past. when you factor in how much gas/time i waste driving around i thought it was a bargain. i did find the figure about a month later though. so for these i'm going to be more patient since it is four 2-packs and not just 1. so far the only set i haven't found in houston is the animated wave 9 (and wave 10 but other than that one lucky person i don't think anyone has found it).

i'm an accountant and an excel nerd......and have made a spreadsheet of all of the marvel movie mates.
i find it interesting that the top 5 characters represented are:
Iron Man with 43 minimates (counting each release of repeated armors as their own version -- meaning hall of armor is 9 different armors as well as any repeated armors from iron man 2 as their own armor).
Hulk with 13
War Machine with 12 (that includes the battle damaged one from Civil War as a variant and the Patriot Armor from Iron Man 3).
Then Captain America with 11
and finally Black Widow with 9 (that includes all of the iron man 2 variants)
all in all, i count 86 mates for phase I, 84 for phase II, and 129 for phase III (this counts Rocket from the first galaxy as his own mate and groot from the second galaxy as his own mate and all alternate versions for ENDGAME as their own mates).
299 mates total.......and i can't wait to line them all up next to each other!!

i agree with you. plus, we're still waiting on the captain marvel box set to hit! but at the same time, knowing its out there and me having a car and time and money means i'm going to go looking..... but yeah, i do need to chill a bit.

i just checked 5 walgreens (walgreenses?) in the north houston area (near IAH) and nada.
i did find just about everything else you could imagine from the marvel movie mates (including all of the hard to find walgreens ones).

I think the only criticism I can make of the boxset is that maybe it should have included the Thor/Cap combo instead of War Machine, that way you could get two sets and not have extra 'mates left. Ah well, that ship has sailed, and I trust DST had some reason for doing it the way they did it. Interested to see what the companion wave ends up looking like.
my assumption is that:
1) walgreens wants all of the main characters in their wave
2) walgreens wouldn't want 2 war machines in their wave
i'm sure there was a bit of mix and matching and thought that went into this.
as for the extra cap head i will have, now i will need to go find me a cap from infinity war. maybe just by putting this new head on the old body it will look like the new cap uniform

cap/thorwidow
tony/iron man
barton/ronin
rhodey/war machine
hulk
that leaves 2 spots
can we assume rocket and thanos?

There are actually a few characters we're duplicating in silver suits AND their other suits (Widow, Tony, Barton, Rhodey, Hulk), but Cap and Thor are not them.

If DST was making any sort of attempt to evolve minimates or be creative I’d be more understanding but things like@DSTZach just confirming that 2 of the 8 Walgreens mates are just Quantum suit Cap & Thor shows that DST isn’t even trying.
they're actually saving us money. if you had to buy 3 box sets to get everyone in the suit, then that would leave you with another extra war machine, an extra body, and you'd be paying $25 for those two figures as opposed to $10 at walgreens for those 2. now the bad news is we're all thinking that this means we won't get the new outfits for cap or thor.
anyone else here now thinking of the malibu stacey episode of simpsons where people freak out b/c she has a new hat?

i think you've hit the nail on the head. when i first started collecting it was with the idea that i could customize anything i wanted. then i got lazy. then there were so many i didn't have to customize and instead it turned into a "gotta have them all' kinda thing. since then i think i've only customized a few random ones. i still buy loose pieces with the intention of customizing.....but i think i have to admit that i'll never get around to it. maybe i'll put all those loose pieces in a box next to all of the gundams i never built.

What I’d really like to know is why the biggest movie of the year w more than enough known content (there’s probably even more that we haven’t seen) for more releases is getting so little.
i've got my wish list and my guess list..........yeah, this is going to be tight. i'm still holding hope that there's a SDCC exclusive set of rocket and another character in a quantum suit.
also, yeah, i noticed that hulk's legs matched black widow/nebula's legs more than they do iron man's. small difference. not a huge deal.
but we'll see........

i guess they didn't think a random scary looking guy was enough to sell legos. i love that set. i put the minimates in there and it makes a perfect display.
same with the arena from ragnarok.

yeah, i remember all of us being surprised when they hit walgreens -- in fact, i remember asking someone to at least tell us the lineup since they couldn't post pics. i think they hit earlier than expected. i do remember the press release too but it was a few days after i'd found a complete set.
i'm trying to remember if infinity war was the same way.
i remember finding sets and not being able to buy them. that sucked. ?
anyways, just take this as excitement on our end.

Zach had confirmed that we only needed two sets to build the whole team (assuming you purchase 2 of the cap/thor sets).
if captain marvel ends up wearing a suit then you'll be covered while we all scramble to get another one!
that or i can use the extra rocket suit as one.............she is short, no?
