  1. I have collected PALz & Kubricks & long ago came to the conclusion that the 'blind-box' system is actually a subtle version of Multi-Level Marketing....buy the cases from the wholesaler ,open the blind-boxes & then corrolate your own complete set & then sell the rest off to whoever & wherever as opened boxes with disclosed figures.I have never succumbed to this method but I have occasionally bought cases when cheap.

I cannot be specific about the Die Hard PALz but it is claimed that the 1:64 chase figures in the X-Files PALz were produced in very small numbers perhaps less than 150*. This claim is made in various ebay auctions hosted by Condogcollectibles http://cgi.ebay.com/PALz-X-Files-2-Quantic...id=p3911.c0.m14

*If its true then I have about 20% of all that were made

Ivan once posted that he might include a PALz section in his Database ,if he ever does I would be more than happy to supply the PALz for the photo-shoot.

  2. I've read Karamazov80 's posts about 'The Texas Chain-Saw Massacre' with a certain wry smile on my face this evening. I've spent 6 hours out in the piss-pouring rain today ,fencing off a field on my farm which entails using my chain-saw. If they were to re-make TCSM & film it here, it would be hilarious. Nobody would die, nobody would even get cut because by the time anybody got the chain-saw started ...everybody would've legged it.

    I need a new spark-plug / chain-saw

  3. Rule of thumb...

Anything they remake will suck compared to the original... with VERY FEW exceptions.

    T.

I think Hollywood should complete the 'Michael Caine trilogy'......The Italian Job , & Get Carter were apparently destroyed.

I confess that I could never bring myself to watch either re-make but I really look forward to...... Zulu. Perhaps Clint could direct & we could have the film slanted towards the Zulu-perspective of the battle a la 'Flags of ...Letters from Iwo Jima'. :)

  4. OK, they've announced so much, and honestly I'm confused, so if someone could explain this to me...

WHERE do we get the upcoming "Iron Man Through the Ages" box set?

WHERE do we get the upcoming "First Appearance Avengers" box set?

WHERE do we get the upcoming "Invaders" box set?

Sorry if this thread feels unnecessary, but seriously I'm losing track and it would be nice to have all the info in one place.

As this thread spirals downwards with vast inputs of irony & sarcasm, measured with more than a hint of naivete, I'll stick my neck out & say that all these items will find their way to AFX after SDCC.

  5. im 11 but i read about it in a non-fiction

    book

Most things you read in a book of fiction are fictional. Most things you read in a non-fiction books are mostly fictional. Most of my best-friends are fictional. :P

  6. I really tried with the 80's thing but to no avail.....however how's about my ol' droogs in Clockwork Orange (70's)post-638-1211750346_thumb.jpg

All you'd really need is a load of 'FCBD Whites'* , a load of C3 Riddler bowlers** & er..um..er ...some long phallic prosthetic noses...***

    *sorted

    **sorted(pending)

*** ...have to check out the 'parts for trade' thread...viddy well elst get a tolchock in the yarbles

  7. So how many of the 'Moderns' were produced in cases & how many FYE Suncoasts 5 packs were produced . Surely the answer must be.... many more Moderns were produced than Classics.....Yes?

BHM, I just checked my case of moderns and there were only 450 cases of those as well. But you're right, due to the FYE Suncoast five packs there were many more moderns produced. But only 5400 moderns came in those individual boxes.

Thanks Rad. I perhaps never quite realised how scarce the Classics were.

  8. I apologise for banging on about these Cylons but I just cannot get this in my head. OK, I totally accept all that has been said about the amount produced, Classics- 450 cases of 12 . That's 5400 total production with 5 different variations of Cylon in various numbers. That's correct..Yes?! There are therefore 450 Gold Battle Damaged..Yes?!

So how many of the 'Moderns' were produced in cases & how many FYE Suncoasts 5 packs were produced . Surely the answer must be.... many more Moderns were produced than Classics.....Yes?

  9. its not gonna end in 2012, like remember that guy in like 1820 sumthin said the world was gonna end and everybody beleived him so they gave away all their stuff and guess what, the world didn't end, so maybe this is just another one of those times

....'like remember that guy in like 1820' ......????? ......how old are you?* I beleive & I believe you do.

    * bhm waits for sarcastic response from cruel MMMV members who know his Achilles-heel.

**edit** Thanks for the PMs :( I could have sworn it said colander not..........collander. I've been under a lot of...... er....er...STRAIN. ;)

  10. Haha! Seriously! Maybe the Mayan Calendar Maker got distracted and never completed into the next era. Of course everything got embellished over the last thousands of years and now people are taking it as a sign of the apocalypse. :)

So how do you explain this thenpost-638-1211708357_thumb.jpg

    ...or this..

Yes . The Mayan Colander Maker 2008 .

    post-638-1211708287_thumb.jpg

  11. I thought I broke Apocalypse today.

I was cussing up a storm.

    Duh :)

This is definitely a subliminal warning. Apocalypse .....storm :ermm:

........... and just hung there. I ended up just taking them off.

    More forebodings of .........self-castration? :pinch:

This "the world wilol end in 2012" thing is crap, absolute crap. The mayan calender is ending, not the world. Plus you have to think they were doing this calender in lik 400 B.C.

Behold the Mayan colander from 400 BC...worryingly intact !

    What does he know?

    post-638-1211707601_thumb.jpg

  12. I'd buy all those.

    Might I add:

    Black Bolt

    Black Manta

    Black Goliath

    even Black Vulcan

What about Black Tom Cassidy, the Black King (Sebastian Shaw), Black Condor, Black Orchid, the Black Racer, the Black Hand, and the Black Sabbath box set?

Jesus, how lazy are comic writers, anyway? And aren't Black Vulcan and Black Lightning basically the same character? Anybody see the Saturday Night Live sketch of Superman's funeral, where Sinbad was Black Lightning? Awesome.

Found it, and isn't Al Franken a great Lex?

    Brilliant ,esp. Hulk & the reading-glasses :D

  13. heh,

I just ( well a couple of hrs ago) got back from seeing this on the big screen! ( yep same place as Aaron)

It's been a looong time since I've seen it and it's a great movie... It's been so long that i'd forgotten half the plot and how funny it is in places...

Needless to say I'm pumped for the mates now, although showdown 'Blondie' does seem like a cheap reuse for the sake of it and they still have the poncho pulled back over the wrong shoulder!!!

    T.

Its nice to hear you admit how much of the plot you have lost :P

  14. DSTChuck: We've done a little army building, but frankly the sales have been pretty flat so I don't think we have any plans right now to expand it to something like you list above.

Well, lets take a look at what has been made:

Modern / Classic Cylon Cases of 12: Limited to 450 pieces of each, good luck new people who want to find some.

Were there really only that many produced? I knew they were rare but didn't realise how rare

That's 450 cases... which is still aprox 5k minimates about the same as the runs for most exclusives...

    T.

Agreed... but I'm trying to remember which was the 1 in 12 ,Black Stealth?

  16. BTW, does anyone else think that Iron Man looks kinda weird in his unarmored state? It's like he's in his underwear or something.

Having not seen him in the flesh yet ,I have this to look forward to  The underpants remind me of his 'Y-Man' incarnation from the 1974 Y-Men Mini-Series 'The 3 Y's-Men' . I still think #3 , ''Y ' Front against the X-Men' is a classic, only surpassed by # 4 'Stark Naked'.

    post-7-1211489885_thumb.jpg

All we have to do now is wait for all the helmet jokes!

    T.

Haven't heard from HAR for some while :P

  17. The blind-package  There my friend ,you have ,what I consider to be there eventual downfall & demise. If this is ever suggested for 'mates look out! I would loved to have seen further X-Files characters.

For some reason, these just don't seem to work for the U.S. We like to know what we're getting. The Japanese, on the other hand, seem to enjoy the thrill of discovery, I guess. I hate blind boxes. I also hate 1/100 variants, or whatever the ratio is for some of those Kubricks. 1/12, and knowing which pack has the variant, is much better.

As you chaps Stateside say " do the math". The Kubrick Star Wars Series 8 has just been released. There are 6 regular figures,a 1/48 chase & two 1/96 secrets. If you are lucky there is a chance that you will find the whole set after buying 8 cases of 12 blind boxes. A chance! Currently on ebay a case of 12 will cost you a few dollars short of $100.

    8x $100 = obscene

Collecting these f$£kers is a disease :woot:

  18. I love everyone's set ideas but I doubt any box sets will ever be made without a heavy hitter in the mix. I also strongly doubt we will see any villian only sets. And I don't see a henchmen set ever seeing the light of day. God I hope I'm wrong, though. I say these things because I always seem to jinx things when I say I want them. So I'm trying reverse-jinxing!

But we now need a STEPHEN COLBERT minimate in our next Marvel wave or box set. Yes, Stephen Colbert is in Marvel comics! I'll risk a jinx for Colbert.

    http://www.marvel.com/news/comicstories.35...t_for_President

I know this is old hat but surely we can't continue to have all these bleedin good guys & no sh%tting bad guys. We all know we need some really bad-ass bad guys. Red Skull would fit in with just about everything recently done & imminent.......Invaders.... doh! Currently the world is safe because we have a veritable cornucopia of heroes up against a Latvian ,an Octoped & the friggin Osbournes ....ooh scarey!
