Saw those too. I remember those as a kid.

You could just mod the shark from Battel Beasts....

That threw me initially , I knew there was a  BB 'mate shark yet I couldn't find it in the MMDB lists . Of course it is listed in the 'Comic book Heroes' section . Hail Ivan .

There was also that stunning Ghost Shark TRU POTC release.

The international marketing of MInimates (specifically) outside of North America would be ,for clarity, non-existent .

  3. The international marketing of MInimates (specifically) outside of North America would be ,for clarity, non-existent . If we're talking 'Marvel generally '  then I have little idea .

Regards Saudi Arabia , interesting to know that comic books are gaining popularity when you consider that is illegal to hand out bibles !

When I was a teenager I regularly read contemporary imported US Marvel comics , exactly the same as what was published in the US except that the price on the cover was printed in English (pence) rather than US (cents) .  No other difference.

In the late 60's /early 70's when Marvel UK started promoting their characters in the UK we got a series of UK Marvel comics which were reprinted in black & white. Despite having read many of these comics before, I bought them . I still have them .

Here's the thing , Marvel censored them . If you had the US versions (which I often did) & compared them to the UK versions you became aware of some seriously odd & sometimes seriously worrying censorship of the text and the artwork.

Red Sonja comes immediately to mind ....... the artwork changes were amateurish & laughable , more chainmail around her loins* must have been awfully uncomfortable !

Regards toys , nudity & kids , does anybody here believe that any kid that has a Barbie , Ken or Joe etc. hasn't seen their toy in the nude ?

    * I tried several words but chose 'loins'  .....still not happy huh?

In kid-oriented media, yeah, the Silvestri outfit isn't going to fly. Same with toys. Any toys.

I understand ,of course I understand but....

There are 3 Minimates that immediately come to mind that would be considered comparable ...Tarot,  Witchblade & Lady Death .

  5. Simply put ,there can't be anyone who isn't happy with at least one of the 67 different Wolverine Minimates we have had . I am however personally dissatisfied that not one of the 7 Colossi that have been produced is definitive IMHO .....big boots do not make a big character.

Wake me up when the Mimic is announced .

  6. I'm told* that a water/ baking soda paste is the way to go . I would avoid rubbing too hard on any tampo'd areas .

    * I am old & believe most everything I am told

The old c3 'mates were prone to this & (also) years ago I had an old TV remote that literally stuck to my hand .......this was due to the plastic ,nothing to do with which TV channels I watch

BTW Always read your posts though before posting .....spellcheck decided that I had meant to type ......"I would avoid rubbing too hard on any tampon areas " :pinch:

    :ban:

  7. No attempt at humour in the following , I'm deadly serious :-

I'm occasionally caught out by my Englishness on a predominantly American forum so I need to be specific & I do not intend to be patronising in the following daydream .

In the UK it is a tradition at Easter to gift kids chocolate 'Easter eggs' , I am unsure whether this is traditional in the US ,if it is then skip the next bit ...or the whole post if you like

A chocolate Easter egg can be just about any size but generally it is a standard size , about the size of an adult's hand & consist of a thin shell of chocolate . These are then wrapped in ornate aluminium foil & thence into generally beautifully ,themed, printed boxes . These are 'big business' , BIG business.

Often these eggs contain 'whatever/gifts/chocolates' .....an idea that a US company called Kinder make by the million . I don't live in the US so I'm unsure whether Kinder do eggs this size .

So in my daydream Nickelodeon are approached with this idea , they make an Easter egg ,which is in essence a TMNT Blimp , an ornately foil -wrapped incarnation .

I leave it to anybody left reading this post to guess what I'd pack inside the chocolate egg !

My xacto is always ready. :D

    Trivia time .

Most everything in my toy/Minimate collection,in the last 20 years, has arrived in the post, packaged from the USA & Japan .

Consequently I have a pretty unique collection of x-acto knives & box-cutters that have been included (accidentally) in my packages . I have several :D

Further irony is that it is very difficult to buy any sort of 'knife' or 'blade' on UK eBay /many other online stores.

    Asleep yet ?

  9. Wave 84 Yellow DD will probably go down in Marvel Minimate history as the longest-awaited updated Minimate of all time .

    20+ years !

You could obviously argue that there have been several DDs but Yellow DD is IMHO , iconic . Iconic enough to be in the very first Marvel Wave.

Firestar must be the next longest-awaited .
