  1. I'm all for A Few Dollars More Minimates - they'll make great background guys for BTTF 3 mates. It's just a shame that Tuco wasn't in AFDM, as I'm a huge, huge fan of Good, Bad & Ugly. As for DS Susan, yeah, sure, why not? I have only the vaguest memory of that film, but I think it's a step in the right direction. Hopefully it will introduce the Minimate 'verse to a wider array of people who wouldn't necessarily buy Minimates otherwise. I'll definitely get a set. And I really like the trend of making toys for overlooked 80's films! In that vein, my next dream license would be GOONIES! Tons of characters, recognizable villains, and since they've got the DC license, one would assume they could make a Sloth with Superman t-shirt. I think they could use Adrian's hat piece for Ma Fratelli, as she wore a similar hat. Following those, I'm all for Ghostbusters, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Breakfast Club, Weird Science, and so on!
  2. There's so much on AA's Minimate plate (Miniplate?) right now, that I'd doubt we'll see these anytime soon. It may be more advantageous for them to put this off for a year or so, allowing the show to build up some more characters and recognizable costume variants. That being said, I would collect the hell out of Heroes Minimates! This would be one of my all-variants lines, like Star Trek & BSG, whereas other lines (24, Marvel) I'll only be getting the standard releases.
  3. It was really interesting reading through this thread. Oh, how the naysayers have said... uh, nay. I've said it in another thread, but 2007 marks the GOLDEN AGE of Minimates!
  4. Okay, this is getting interesting. It's clear that AA is fully behind the BSG line, so that's great. Hopefully all these early exclusives will be available later or as easy part swaps. On the other hand, if these have unique decos or exclusive accessories (like this test tube rack) then I'm going to start getting annoyed.
  5. Okay, I'll choose ONE figure from all the upcoming lines that I'm interested in: Zombie Spider-Man (slam dunk) Spock (love that Vulcan hand pose) Marty McFly (because I told myself I can't choose the whole line) Thor (finally, and done right) Mickey (from Rocky set, always loved the character) Admiral Cain (BSG, just because it's an odd choice for a first wave, and she's super sexy!) There's been so much announced, I'm probably forgetting something, but that's a good start I suppose!
  6. I haven't read the comics (or any recent comics, for that matter) but I'm looking forward to finding it. You can't go wrong with zombies in my book; Shaun of the Dead is required watching every Halloween in my household. Put me down for one set!
  7. Very well put, TBT!, and my regards on having a name that virtually can't be shortened! Back to the point, if you (meaning rodbender) enjoy your baggie Starbuck, then more power to you, dude, and price be damned. We all collect different stuff for different reasons. Those of us with more patience get a great amount of satisfaction in finding the really rare stuff that the typical person usually doesn't hold on to, like AA paperwork - I'm thinking of the Christmas postcard that came with the Elf Cylon. I used to have a complete vintage Jetfire Transformer and I kept all the parts in the styrofoam packaging. I got a real kick out of having a simple piece of packaging that most kids threw away. But TBT! speaks wisdom - you shouldn't open your baggie Starbuck! Its value is in its packaging. And, if you really regret your decision, you can always throw it back up on eBay (or on the sales board here) and get some of your money back.
  8. If you're a collector who never opens their toys, then yeah, this is going to be a tough one to track down. But for the rest of us, I don't think there's any need to pay $50 for this one mate. This figure will definitely be available again, either as a straight rerelease or as an easy part swap. First of all, Starbuck is a major character and will definitely pop up again in more assortments down the line. Secondly, the black & grey undershirt look is iconic to the show, so we'll definitely see at least one other character with this deco. Thirdly, it shouldn't be a problem for most folks to find a pair of bare arms, should it come to that.
  9. Agreed. The miniverse has grown so much, it's like you just have to have every release, just to flaunt the obscurity of it all!
  10. Am I dreaming? No, seriously, this isn't just a Photoshop put-on, is it? Really, is this really really really real? My head swims....
  11. If these are popular, there's always the chance they'll do more. Maybe they could do a two-pack of Hawkeye pre & post zombification? Seems like that could answer a lot of people's desires.
  12. Ladies and gentlemen, we have entered the GOLDEN AGE of Minimates! You'll be telling you kids, "it all started with the announcement of DC mates, the Cylons hit us, then we saw the pics of the Thor wave and the Zombies, then they released the Robomates, the ones that could move by themselves and eventually learned to feel human emotions.... we were all surprised when the UN announced that all wars would be solved on miniature battlefields by pitting armies of robot minimates against each other. But no one was shocked when the Robomates turned on their creators. Of course, their robot revolt didn't last very long - we just stepped on them, and that was that! Now go fetch Grandpa a Slurm."
  13. Do you guys want to hear a tale that will make you sick to your stomach? Sure you do. Last week local Wal-Mart had about 15 20th Anniv. Optimus Prime figures marked down to $50. I really wanted one, but I thought $50 was a good price but still too much, so I decided to wait and see if the price came down. Well, this morning, I went in, and they were all gone. I asked the toy stock guy if they had any left, he said no, they went pretty quickly after they were marked down further. And what was the final markdown price? Seven dollars each. Seven. I was speechless.
  14. Dang, dudes, that statue is sick. Take that to mean whatever you like. I admire it from a certain point of view, but I'd never want to look at it daily. But zombie minimates.... yeah, baby!
  15. I am loving that picture, and can't wait to get these minimates into my collection! At first I was 'meh' on Rocky, but I really dig the details they've included. Bravo AA!
  16. Welcome aboard the, uh, board! I have no idea what your screen name & sig line refer to, but it looks cool!
  17. I've never heard of Bearriors, but I bet that cave playset would have been sweet...
  18. I just watched the classic ep Shore Leave, and now I really want a Finnegan, Kirk's Irish nemesis from the Academy. Plus I want the two cabaret girls with Bones at the end of the ep!
  19. Yeah, the Chucks rule! And the feet can easily be swapped.
  20. Yep, I'm eager to see the rest of those figs. I've heard the next one to be shown will be Scarlett!
  21. That's great news to see new-BSG coming to the toy aisles, but I'll only be collecting these characters in Minimate form. For so, so many reasons, Minimates are the only figures I collect! I am curious to see what balance of accuracy & posability these sculpted figures strike.
  22. Boy, this year is shaping up to be full of 'mates. I'll be buying cases of modern BSG and Star Trek - I must have all figures from those lines. I'll trade away the duplicates from my cases to fill out the rest of my collections. I'll be collecting Marvel regularly, not too concerned on variants there, and I'll get Batman and Superman-themed pairs from the DC line, but that's about it for DC. I'll round out my collection of civilians with most or all of the Rocky & 24 'mates. I'm especially excited about supporting 24, because I think supporting TV licenses helps open the door to LOST minimates. I have almost no interest in Street Fighter or Speed Racer, and I may get Kellogg's, if they appeal to me. As for I, Robot, honestly I think AA has so much on their plate for now that these will be delayed for quite awhile. Anyway, I'll get those only if the designs are kool. I just wrote way too much.
  23. From the X3 wave, I'm only getting Beast & Juggernaut. That was my decision when I first saw the pics, and that hasn't changed. I'm not a completionist but I do like to have a wide variety of characters, so I'll be getting all of the Ghost Rider wave and Thor wave, but not the variants.
  24. I don't know that much about the Ghost Rider storyline, but I like these mates. I'll get the three standard sets, if for nothing more than to fill out some civilians in my displays. Villains gotta have some hostages, you know.
  25. Like Fujis, I'd love to see a boxing ring playset, perhaps with an exclusive minimate. I'd also use it whenever my Galactica minimates need to settle some personal grievances!
