Copied across from my other thread to keep the board tidy
I was wandering if I could get some answers/opinions on some colours.
People like Zemo, Titania and Machine Man. In older comics they are clearly a pink/magenta colour, much like Gambit. However a lot of other sources clearly show them as purple, a quick google of Machine demonstrates this.
I'm currently trying to make Machine Man, so I bought some cheap issues of MM from the 80's and he's pink, in fact he's the perfect match for Citadel Miniatures 'Pink Horror' paint. So I adjusted my decal to this colour and it looks really off to me.
So I thought I would use 'Screamer Pink' as its more purple, which matches my idea of MM better. But is less accurate.
Which colour looks better to you guys/gals?
Playing with paint today, left to right: Screamer Pink, Screamer Pink with Pink Horror over it, Pink Horror and then Parma Purple on the second pic, and Tamiya x-16 which is the purple on the thigh.
Whilst the general opinion was Screamer Pink was best in person it dried a very dark maroon so I went with Parma Purple.
My next issue was his belt, my original decal was too cluttered when I did a test print so I came up with two alternatives, remove some of the line or split it over the chest and waist piece. I'm leaning towards the plainer belt.
Sorry for all the questions, I'm a little OCD about getting things right.

Thanks guys, I wasn't aware there was an open mouth tag on the database.
I'll check those mentioned out, I don't mind what they eyes are like as I'll paint them in silver anyway.

I don't suppose any one could suggest an alternate shouting head for Black Bolt could they?

I really like the idea for the chest/face shot Wasp, and it seems plausible based on the mini surfer and Tinkerbell mates we've seen so far.
I would like to see some more power effects: beams for Cyclops, blasters for Iron Man, projectiles for people like Magneto. Maybe some more stands to go with them.

Been playing with paint today, left to right: Screamer Pink, Screamer Pink with Pink Horror over it, Pink Horror.
They look much lighter in the picture than they do in person. I don't think painting the pink over purple is significantly different enough to plain pink. I did try mixing them which looked good, but I couldn't ever mix enough.
I might just make one pink and one purple and decide which is best afterwards.
Edit:
Found some more purple paints. Parma purple which is magenta on the torso, and Tamiya x-16 which is the purple on the thigh.

There's not a shade of premixed paint between those two colours, but I might try mixing them together and see what the outcome is.

Thought I would post this here as we don't have a sort of wip discussion thread.

It really depends what decals you need, your best bet is checking over in the customs board to see if anyone can help you out.

Ugh, so many characters I didn't know I want, nay needed, until people mentioned them.

Merci, I personally find her chest a bit plain, but after adding highlights it looked too busy.
I know what you mean, I would have thought with all the Thor mates she could have been slotted in somewhere by now.

Awesome Joker Dave!
I haven't forgotten your Kate and Kathy decals, still trying to get them right.
I did find these when tidying up some files, for some reason I used the same face for both
Not sure if I've posted them all before, I'll go back and delete any older ones.
I've also got 2 different sized head decals, I can't recall which size is right so these might need to be resized...

Thanks, I enjoy making the decals, its just a bit frustrating when I can't progress any further with a custom.
I know there's the castingcave which sells various 6" bits and bobs, it would be cool if we could set something like that up on here.

Greetings all,
I have seen about people casting bases and solid mates before, and I was wondering if anyone had ever tried casting minimate hairpieces?
I have a few customs in mind, but some of the bits I need are pretty pricey, for example Champions Black Widow, even more so when I only need one piece.
I can cast stuff, but there's still the problem of tracking down the original pieces here in the UK.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

The first Wonderman tick the first two off that list.

I can certainly have a go at one

Liney, this is frickin awesome! The likeness is uncanny! May I ask if you're using an existing hairpiece or sculpting? Great job!
Hey all,
How about starting with the Star Trek Rand hair?
Take care,
Matty-lad
That's a great idea, I think she's a lot easier to get too!

I have so many mates I want to make, but always get stuck when it comes to actually fabricating them, I normally make the decals then give up.
Elvira only came about as I was stuck on which looks for Dolly Parton and Cher... which says a lot about my taste in music

Thanks, I'm still working out the hairpiece, I guess sculpting the beehive onto an existing long hairpiece would be easiest. Plus a skirt piece with a split cut into it.

Been working on some decals of Elvira, Mistress Of The Dark. Relatively happy with the chest, though I think she could do with having an even bigger bust. Two options for her face, winking or not winking. Not sure whether or not she needs all the lashes, so there's one with simplified lashes.
Feedback is as always encouraged and appreciated!
*Edited with combined decal sheets
Full lashes
Simpler Lashes

It looks like you've out a lot of effort in so far, with pretty good results.
For Blanka might a bulked up hulk be better as a base? I seem t remember him being pretty big.
I know Phoenix, Ms. Marvel and the Star Trek Mirror Mirror mates have sashes like Vega.
Very excited to see the results!

While I wait for my decal paper to arrive so I can finish up Machine Man I started work on another custom.
The skirt piece doesn't want to take paint very well, it just rubs right off, any tips on how to remedy this?
