  1. Responding to people who need specific blind bags: You know you can cheat right? Every blind bag has a number discreetly printed on it... one need only look up the number key on the internet, figure out what number the pony or ponies they need are, and go looking at bags for that particular number. Just throwing it out there incase anyone wasn't aware. As to Bronies and an understanding about them... or lack there of... Here's my thing... my story if you will... I saw the internet meme. I didn't quite get it at first, in fact I said those exact words to my best friend, "I don't get it." ... BUT ... being curious as to what all the fuss was about, and secure in my masculinity and unafraid of girly stuff (I've watched Jem before too... just because I was curious. And played the hell out of The Spice Girls game on the PS1, lol) I went and downloaded the first season and watched it, knowing nothing about it beyond the meme. And it won me over. Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy particularly... those two are just... awesome hilarious cartoon characters, lol... I've always hesitated (down right refrained) to call myself a brony, even though by definition I suppose I am, as I'm a male, in my 20s. I just don't particularly care for the term. I'm a fan of cartoons. I heard alot of praise for this particular cartoon... watched it... and enjoyed it. That's it. That's the long and short of it. And yes, I have bought a small amount of toys and apparel since then... partly yes, to buy into the novelty of it, lol... but partly because I do that for EVERY cartoon I like. I buy toys and clothes for ninja turtles, marvel, power rangers, mortal kombat, and blah blah blah everything else I enjoy too... this particular one just stands out to people, being from "the pink aisle" The fact that My Little Pony is classically a girl's property is of little consequence to me (though it does amuse me when my Fluttershy hoodie befuddles others, I admit. I'm a big guy, with a beard, in a black hoodie, with a pony saying "Yay!" and it does make me laugh when people don't get it... lol...) I've always been perfectly fine dabbling in the pink aisle, frankly. I'm gonna call myself a girly toy hipster. I was never drawn to ponies specifically before the new series caught on, but I've bought dolls I thought were cool. I have a little sister, I'm exposed to these things, lol. I have a full set of Spice Girls. I've baked in an easy bake oven. I could tell you the names of all Barbie's closest friends. I've played Mall Madness, Mystery Date & Dream Phone more times than I can count. I'm not a Brony, I'm just a guy who won't be told I can't watch funny cartoons just because they're for girls, and play with cool toys just because they come in a pink box. And I say that all in the manliest, most heterosexual way possible... with no agendas toward feminism or gender-equality or any of that mumbo jumbo... just the idea that, "I know what I like... and I like this."
  2. I wasn't complaining about the Pony talk... I was complaining about the fact that I can't get a pony, lol...
  3. Dammit... this is exactly what I DIDN'T want to hear about Derpy... lol... Don't get me wrong, I saw it coming, but I still hoped I'd be wrong. I live in Chicago, so I don't go to SDCC... that said I sometimes order exclusives after the con from Hasbro's website, or pick them up on resale at Wizard World Chicago. Usually the GI Joes are sold out before I even realize they're up, but the Marvel figs stay in stock for long enough for me to pick up, and the My Little Pony stays in stock nearly forever. I suspect that won't be the case this year, and Derpy will sell out as fast as the GI Joes... So anyway... when Hasbro posts their exclusives on the web store, as they normally do after the con, I'm gonna TRY to get one before they sell out, but I'm not optimistic. I was hoping to get more than one, because not only does my sister also want one, but I wanted two so I could re-style one's hair (shut up!) but at this point I'm thinking I'd be lucky if I get my hands on one. Worst case scenario, there are plenty on ebay... price isn't good, but supply is ample. And hopefully people will start gouging eachother more and it will see a drop. Seems the highest prices on any exclusive are always the weekend of the con, and far out from the con after supply dries up. There's a slump between the two... where the price starts to dip, because supply is high, but demand dies off. Which is usually the best time to buy. I don't really care about Zecora... the glow in the dark gimmick kills my interest. Rather just get the normal, non-con exclusive version when it's released later. Wait... is this the minimate forum? lolz... PS. I sympatize with your wife, and understand her problem, but as a guy in his twenties who wants a Derpy... yeah sorry. I want a Derpy. But if it makes you feel better, I can't get one as of yet either.
  4. I only really have an interest in the X-Men if we get all five of them (which doesn't seem likely), so I don't so much mind getting Iron Man. As I said in an older post, I'd also greatly prefer if Emma came with a normal cape. I don't like displaying minimates in their "powered up" looks... and I'd prefer an Emma that's not in a perpetual state of floating and on fire.
  5. The problem with the wrong thigh coverings was fairly common with Wave 41 Hulk, and both Red and Green MvC3 Hulks. I had to buy multiples of a few of them to get the right pieces, and I've seen several pictures on the internet (MMDB, ebay, google search) of them with the same problem. I'd advise DST to stop using these on figures unless they have clearly discernible paint apps on the front, or they start stamping an L and an R on the back.
  6. This thread kinda died off once the last poll hit and everyone voted... which I thought sucked, because for a while there it was the liveliest thread here... I'm sure it goes without saying that we'd all love an update... I'm also fairly positive Zach can't tell us who won, even if votes have been tallied. (And I don't even know that they have...) Can we at least know a few of the figures that don't have a friggin' prayer? lol... some preliminary estimates?
  7. Week or two? Not very long ago. Asked for a right and got two more lefts. I sent that example picture I posted a page or two back and everything.
  8. Well I'll give you a dollar if you mail me the right one. lol... Having already bought a replacement and contacted customer service, and come out with nothing but 6 lefts... I'm not sure where repeating those steps would get me, seems very hit and miss... hehehe... PS. MODOK looks pretty awesome. Frankly I can't wait to play with him and Abomination at the same time. The Super Hero Squad Show has given them a Bulk and Skull, Bebop and Rocksteady, Grounder and Scratch etc. etc. like quality to them that amuses me... lol. I love Cartoon idiot duos, lol...
  9. I can confirm that you can indeed get both thigh pieces for all three hulks... though it's fairly hit and miss as to whether you actually WILL... lol. My Wave 41 Hulk had both the correct leg coverings on the first buy. My MvC3 Hulk had two rights. My MvC3 Red Hulk had two lefts. As I already mentioned, I bought a second MvC3 Green Hulk, that one had the correct leg coverings. I also ended up getting a second SDCC 4-Pack as a gift, as luck would have it, and my second Red Hulk also had both the proper leg coverings. So leg coverings for both sides DO exist for all three figures, but it's a crapshoot as to whether or not you'll actually get both in one pack, lol... The jury is still out on the hands apparently.
  10. I keep telling myself to stop coming back into this thread and then I do anyway...
  11. Used the vest from the Zombie Biker, need to add a little black paint for the wrists and knee brace/pads and maybe match up the skin tones a little better (more obvious in the picture than in person). And yes, mine has a little bit of flare at the bottom of his head too. He desperately needs wrist cuffs and actual boots. He looks far too nude atm. Knee pads would also help the look, though I don't know if such a thing yet exists in minimates off the top of my head. I'd also suggest the Mayor from Ghostbuster's vest for anyone else attempting this. I don't own the Austin mate or the Mayor, or else I'd try it myself... but that just looks much more vesty, as opposed to sleeveless-jackety.
  12. This is making me feel slightly better... I mean, don't get me wrong, it's weird that he has two left hands, but I'm anal about part/accessory completion, so not having the right hand would have driven me nuts... but if NO ONE has a right hand, and the figure was never actually MADE with right hands... well that's an entirely different ball of wax. Then I'm not missing anything.
  13. So still not a right found in the bunch huh? Thank you for the info. Please keep it coming anyone else just joining us, lol.
  14. I thought Rictor was bi... in that he typically likes girls, but also Shatterstar, when he's around.
  15. It surprises me how many people are acting like seeing these is new... they were on display at C2E2 like... 2 months ago. I don't remember if photography was allowed or not, but if it wasn't, I assume someone out there ninja'ed some pictures anyway... as per usual.
  16. There are many shows from my childhood I watch and enjoy... that aren't very good. I love them, and will watch them forever, but they're not really good shows. Not always bad, but not good. Power Rangers. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Most Marvel Cartoons. That said... there are at least two that I call good shows... and those two are Beast Wars and Gargoyles. Both are written well. Written intelligently at times. The voice acting in both is great. And both are enjoyable from both an adult perspective and as a children's show. I will say the animation in Beast Wars is horribly dated today, but for its time it was great, so I can't hold that against it fairly. But in any case, yes, it's one of the most awesome shows ever. People who refuse to watch it just because they're not trucks are missing out on 10 million pounds of awesome. I'm definitely one of the people who calls it better than G1. I know it's debatable... but that's my opinion. But it's a DAMN SIGHT better than anything that has come from Michael Bay. I will say without any doubt. And I wish to god the team who made the War for Cybertron games would make a Beast Wars one... though I know it's not very likely.
  17. You accidentally linked to the wrong video. This one has some wacky T-Rex robot thing, not Megatron. I... You... WHAT?! I KNOW! My first reaction was to reach through the internet and punch him. But I'm not really a violent/mean-spirited guy, so I reigned it in. lolz...
  18. Hit Schaumburg and Golf Mill IL TRU's today. Schaumburg had all 8 Daredevil/Spidey sets and none of the X sets. Golf Mill had 2 Spidey and 2 Daredevil. Both had a bunch of older crap too, naturally (Golf actually had a butt-ton of the X-Men First Class wave)... So when I found the wave, but didn't find Magma and Mirage at the 4th TRU I've checked now I raised my hands, cursed at the sky and yelled, "Damn you BannersID!!!" (I'm just kidding. I have no idea who bought them, I just like to arbitrarily blame Banners because I know he and I shop at some of the same Toys R Useses, lol... just teasing.) But yeah, screw all you people who say "I'm glad they labeled them exclusive so people buy them" *Shakes Fist!* (I'm kidding again. But yeah... frustration.) X-Men fan... must get... new X-Men...
  19. Well if you're gonna nitpick confusing gender-related technicalities, you could do the same for Poison frankly. After trying to sort through things on the internet for a while, I filed Poison under "Who the hell knows. I don't care anymore." long ago... lol... I just consider her a girl, because she was supposed to be one originally, and it was BS and censoring that muddied the water in the first place. Plus that way I don't feel weird about finding her hot. I know there's evidence/statements/blah blah blah to suggest otherwise but... meh. It's all a big confusing ball of crap. She's one thing in one country, she's not in the other. This Capcom guy says this. This Capcom guy says that. For every statement made about Poison, there's something out there to contradict it. So I've adopted a "go with whatever works for you" policy. Same goes for Birdo.
  20. Pft! Like I be readin' and whatnot. Shi! (Kidding, lol. But no, I didn't read, I just went straight to the pictures.)
  21. I hope Northstar indeed comes with both Black and White hair pieces, and that's not just a running change to the prototype we see pictured. Puck appears to have a crotch cap and normal feet in the first pic, but no cap and shorty feet in the second pic, so I dunno... running changes seem to be happening from one set of pics to the next. Because I believe Northstar's been drawn both ways, but I personally prefer Black, so I'd hate to be stuck with White. And I'd hate for those who prefer white find themselves in the opposite situation. Not like it should be too hard to track down a black hairpiece, with the billion Iron Men out there... or I could even use Guardian's in theory... but still! I'd prefer not to. lol...
  22. As has been touched on, I just don't see the point of the Phoenix X-Men unless we get all 5 of them... and this seems like one of those teams that's very unlikely to be revisited and finished off. Which almost makes it irritating before it's even finalized, lol... Since it already feels like the set is going to shake out to Iron Man, Witch, Protector and an X-Man, I suppose the other two X-Men and Namor & Magik could be a couple additional TRU sets... but then, we never got Firelord and Airwalker, so... if Colossus' votes suck, who the heck knows. Maybe there won't be any interest. Certainly seems more likely we'll never see them. Magik and Colossus would obviously make sense as a two-pack though, and Namor could probably work well with Emma or Scott. Not one of those random Fantomex/Mr. Negative type pairings that makes no sense, lol. ANYWAY... all that aside, I have one humble request: Should Emma get made, could we PLEASE have a non-flaming cape included? I personally just prefer mates in their "powered down" looks, I always take the flamey hands off all of mine, lol. And while Cyke includes pieces to accommodate that, Emma doesn't seem to. I'd hate to have her stuck floating and on-fire forever because she doesn't have a normal cape. :/
  23. I think the lack of Sasquatch makes it blatantly obvious that there will be an Alpha Flight set 2, the 1 just re-enforces that notion. At bare minimum there'd have to be another 2-Pack coming. I could see them skipping Shaman, I could see them skipping Snowbird, I could EVEN see them skipping Aurora even though they're making Northstar... but there's no way in hell they'd plan to make Alpha Flight and not make Sasquatch. No way would Marrina and Box get made, and Sasquatch wouldn't. So yeah, in B4 Sasquatch, Aurora, Snowbird & Shaman. (Might as well just show'em to us Zach! Come'on! lolz...) Oh and PS. To lavish praise, I'm always excited about any set that gives me a new X-Man, and Northstar covers that Angle so... *High Five*
  24. I didn't want to create a new thread for this, and wasn't quite sure where to post it, but since this is the MvC3 thread I figured it fit alright here... So this is my Hulk... he has two left hands... Here's why I'm posting. I bought a second set of Hulk & Haggar to hopefully replace the hand and low and behold... it also had two left hands. Furthermore, I contacted Diamond, sent them that picture, and asked them about a replacement hand, and they sent a pair (kinda) and I thank them for that... but what I got in the mail was, low and behold again... two left hands, lol. Now I know the difference is subtle and hard to notice at a glance, but it IS there. My standard Bulked Up Hulk, as well as my Red Hulk both have a right and a left hand. The finger grooves are symmetrical when viewed from the front, unlike these. There should (in theory) be a right and a left. So here I sit now, on two MvC3 Hulks, with 6 left hands between them... two hands FROM Diamond, AFTER I sent them that pic, lol. And I can't help but wonder. Do Right Hands for MvC3 Hulk EXIST? I mean, I suppose it's possible, that because the difference is so subtle, only one hand was sculpted for this particular figure, and in fact, all MvC3 Hulks have 2 left hands. Problem is I have no real way of knowing with such a small sampling. I mean I only have 3 total "pairs" *Shrug* So I came here to ask my fellow minimate collectors, could you all please do me a solid and take a glance at the hands on your MvC3 Hulk... Does ANYONE out there have a right hand? Should I continue pursuing this, or am I chasing a hand that doesn't exist? lol...
