  1. Oh, yeah.

The addiction is back indeed. My order from Sci-Fi (the store not the channel) came today. Secret Invasion and Avengers box sets as well as Ms. Marvel/Ultron and Havok/Polaris.

The Avengers one is really awesome. All the stuff included to make different outfits for Wasp and switch between Giant-Man and Ant-Man.

  2. I still need the previous wave of TRU minimates (Kraven, Shocker, etc) as I only recently got back into these things.

I was at TRU today and they had a bunch of the newest TRU wave in stock. Earlier this week I bought the Magneto/Wolverine, Doom/Hulk, and Spider-Man/Green Goblin ones. Still have a few Wonder Man/Union Jack and Punisher/Jigsaw ones. If there still next payday I'll get them I think as well.

  3. With the wave that has Deadpool, Sabretooth, Gambit, Psylocke, a better yellow costume Wolverine, and a Skrull in it coming as well, I HAD to get back into it. They're all in the outfits I grew up enjoying seeing in X-Men back in the 90s (aka Jim Lee era, or animated X-Men era)

If Minimates makes a Jim Lee era Cyclops, Storm, Jean Grey, Professor X, Beast, Rogue, and Colossus next, either as a wave or box set, I would gladly sell ALL my Marvel Legends off, because I have wanted to see a complete 90s X-Men in ANY figure form forever since the old 5 inch Toy Biz days. Marvel Legends failed on that, and I'm not liking Marvel Universe, so... Come on, Minimates!

I'm working now on getting what I've missed and have a few of the past waves including some of the special box sets (Avengers and Secret Invasion) coming in the mail.

One that eludes me is the War Machine 2-pack. First off, why they chose to make Rhodes the variant versus Tony... >_O

Anyway, I look forward to getting back into this stuff again. Much beter for my wallet and space in my room as well.

  4. It's good to have another person in the addiction :)

When did you stop collecting them?

Well, the last newest ones I got were the Quicksilver/Scarlet Witch, Thor/Loki, and She-Hulk/Wonder Man sets. Of course, I was initially only collecting figures here and there too at the time. Mostly characters I wanted more so and not variants of the same person.

  5. Man, it's been ages since I was last here looking up stuff about minimates.

I have been out of the game for a long time now, feeling trying to get a number of Marvel Minimates while we still had Marvel Legends figures around was kind of a lot of money to spend. So I gave up collecting Marvel Minimates and kept going with Legends...until Hasbro basically mucked it up with store exclusives and put it on 'hiatus'.

Now they have this Marvel Universe stuff, which is G.I.Joe sized. I tried to get into that, but I just really don't like the figures. They seem kinda...cheaply made and not all that good looking to me.

So I was going through my box of figures stored away recently and stumbled onto my collection of Marvel Minimates in a X-Men Darktide box. And recalled how cool these little guys were and recalled these are still going. I saw online recently the showings of the upcoming wave involving Deadpool, Gambit, Psylocke, and Sabretooth. And even stumbled upon the newest waves of MM at TRU Monday morning. A newer better Doctor Doom with a new Hulk, Jim Lee style Magneto with Wolverine and Spider-Man with Green Goblin, Wonder Man and Union Jack, and a movie Punisher and Jigsaw... Looking them over and thinking about it for a time, I decided to jump back into collecting these little guys and bought the Doom/Hulk, Wolverine/Magneto, and Spider-Man/Green Goblin sets.

These have improved in my mind wuite a lot since the early days, more like the DC Minimates (which I collected up to its sad end) More details on the figures' outfits and looks. I love how the new Spider-Man resembles the version of him used in Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends cartoon kinda, and has his mask removeable.

Anyway, these guys have me hooked again. With my desire to have Marvel guys to collect, and the much easier to swallow price tag ($7 for 2 figures versus $8-9 for one MU figure) Yeah, I'm back on trying to get these guys.

Sad thing is, I have a LOT to try and get between the time I was collecting and when I stopped. Not including variants of the same characters I have 40 MM right now.

  6. I got my set today. I was surprised as I ordered them on Thursday and usually it takes til the next week to get stuff for me.

I love that I have a Flash now. All I need is a Martian Manhunter and I've got the 'Big 7' of the Justice League complete.

Clayface is really kind of annoying cause of said head/waist piece.

Starfire is nice to have to create a Minimates Titans team...though I can honestly say she's a prime example of how some characters don't really translate well to minimate form. Also...why no attachable starbolts for her hands? That seems like it'd have been a given for her since Nightwing got his sticks.

Speaking of Nightwing... He's growing on me as I put him side by side with my old C3 one. I just wish he would have come with his wrist gauntlets like the C3 one did. I'd switch them out if not for the color difference. His sticks are much cooler then the C3 ones and his head also doesn't seem as small.

Gorilla Grodd is interesting. I just think his 'hair' sculpt for his head is funny cause it makes him look like he has a mullet. XD

Lobo... Lobo is awesome. Best minimate ever. The chain with hook, the jacket. Everything. One of my favorites. At least we get Lobo in some form since Mattel refuses to do him in the DCU toyline.

Ambush Bug is not a really familiar character to me to really say anything on him other then...he's another minimate. >_>

Batman is cool in that he's got the classic look to him, but also he has a much better Bruce Wayne head under the mask then the first DC minimate Batman did.

Hopefully this line is going to continue long enough for us to get Beast Boy, Black Canary, Martian Manhunter, Wonder Girl, Superboy... Ah, heck. Just keep it going and make everyone in the DCU I say. I'll buy them all.

  7. I've been on a major gaming kick this month. I've played and beaten Assassin's Creed and just yesterday Mass Effect on my 360, both of which are awesome games. Played halfway on Call of Duty 4 (have to go back to it here). I've gotten 87 stars of the 120 in Super Mario Galaxy and am now also getting into The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on the sweet gold colored DS I got it with in a bundle on Black Friday.

I still have some games I want to play as well out there... Contra 4, Final Fantasy III... Oy...I thought a while back that I'd kicked my gaming addiction. LOL

  8. A friend and I were talking after I got myself a bunch of DC minimates and seriously have to wonder if we'll ever see Marvel allow DST to make 2.5 inch Marvel mates. It works so well to convey larger characters in the DC line and it would so benefit a number of Marvel characters obviously. (Hulk, Juggernaut, Apocalypse) Has there been a full fledged explanation ever as to why Marvel won't allow it along with other things?

I'm hoping at some point maybe they will, but from the way it's been sounding it will never be. It just is funny how much more detailed and stuff how the DC minimates are. I want to see my Marvel minimates be able to get like that as well someday. (Hulk needs to be big, dangit!)

  9. I just got my C3 Robin figure in the mail yesterday and noticed when placed next to my C3 Nightwing how tall he is. I understand it's due most likely to his belt attachment. But I also notice his hairpiece refuses to stay on his head.

Any tips or ideas on how to maybe tinker with this?

I thought maybe to use the DC minimate Robin we got with Penguin maybe as one idea...

  10. My GA came out okay, so I guess I got lucky. My Deathstroke though...his chest piece kind of sticks away from his chest. Makes me want to superglue it to keep it in place better.

Heh. Also, today I just got my big shipment from Sci-Fi Genre containing my Superman/Lex Luthor, Batman/OMAC, Green Lantern/Star Sapphire, Aquaman/Ocean Master DC minimates and my WonderMan/She-Hulk, Scarlet Witch/Quicksilver, and Thor/Loki Marvel minimates. It's been a major minimate week for me. XD All I have left coming is a C3 Robin and that's it for the DC ones until Wave 7 comes out.

  11. Ah, there. fixed my post from the Halloween alterations. I forgot to mention I also got a hole of a Jon Stewart GL minimate from a guy I know whom got 3 of them while he at the con giving them away.

I opened all the mates last night and gotta say they're all awesome, though I worry about Hawkman and Hawkgirl's wings. I dunno, but I think maybe they should have been molded on to the figures somehow.

  12. I didn't. Apparently they have it right now so some words you type on the site right now get altered, which is VERY annoying in my mind. I tried to fix it, but when I reposted the words changed again. Frankly, I don't find it humorous that what I'm typing is getting altered for Halloween right now... This reply will probably come out altered as well.

  13. So I went to this comic book shop that's 25 minutes away from where I live again after having expressed an interest to order some DC minimates the previous week I went there and they said they'd be getting some more in the next week... I ordered like four sets, but came out with a bit more. They got in a ton of Series 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6, so I had quite a lot to pick from.

    I ended up bringing home...

    Batgirl/Bane

    Guy Gardner/Kilowag

    Supergirl/Bizarro

    Power Girl/Dr Fate

    Blue Beetle/Booster Gold

    Hawkman/Hawkgirl

    Joker/Harley Quinn

This other list below is of ones I have coming through the mail. Otherwise, I could have gotten most of them there too.

    Superman/Lex Luthor

    Batman/OMAC

    Wonder Woman/Ares

    Aquaman/Ocean Master

    Green Lantern/Star Sapphire

    Green Arrow/Deathstroke

Man, these things are like plastic crack. LOL I even have all of Wave 7 on pre-order, though that's a ways off now which saves me some money then for now, but I gotta tell ya, these things are addictive.

Anyone else do a minimate splurge of their own?

  14. I'll try my own 10 wish list here...

    1. Beast Boy

    2. Kyle Rayner GL

    3. Martian Manhunter

    4. Mr. Freeze

    5. Huntress

    6. Black Canary

    7. Solomon Grundy

    8. Black Manta

    9. Donna Troy

    10. Doomsday

    Batman/Superman variants:

    Black suit Superman

    Batman Beyond

  15. Yeah, those are the costumes I was thinking of Reideen. Basically the X-Men I grew up on mainly from the old cartoon. I agree that we already have Wolverine, Iceman, Rogue, Colossus, and the upsoming Archangel fit that are already out for the minimates. Still would like to see the other characters though done up at some point.

And man, the whole 'license' thing with Marvel really seems to suck if Prof X's hover chair isn't an allowed part. Yeesh. Is there a reason why Marvel is so strict with the Mates?
