  1. Otherwise gimme a Black-suited Superman over a Jim Lee version any day.

    I hate that curly mullet.

This may be completely beside the point you've made, but I was under the impression, what with the colors and facial/chest detailing that the Batman we're getting with Series One is the "Jim Lee/Hush" one...

Anyways, I don't want to see any more variants. From either Marvel or DC. There are too many characters from each that there should never be a need to redo the same character in a different costume.

  2. "Slightly less" than buying a round-trip airplane ticket from Chicago to Rhode Island, paying for admission, paying for hotel stay, buying food, and getting the pack of toys...or "slightly less" than just buying the toys?

(And, thank you for all your helpful information, and sorry for being a pain in the @$$.)

  3. No offense taken. Personally, I'd have to do the same for anyone else.

However, that "All the Exclusives Mailed to Your Door" sounds perfect (for either of us)!!

Where do I go to order that? And, finances being tight, how soon ahead of time can/should I order it? I don't want to order it too early, then have to float that amount in my bank account until they charge me, nor do I want to wait too long, and risk them being sold out, and not being able to get it at all.

  4. I don't like the 20th Anniv. Optimus. His red is too orange, his blue is too bright, and his gun isn't black.

I might've spent $65 on it 3 years ago, but my red/dark blue w/burn marks & black gun makes me happier than this repaint ever could.

Also, TM2, if you could help me with the Botcon Exclusives, too, that'd be kick@$$. Let me know how much they'd be, and I might even be able to pay you for them upfront (before you go to the Con), and pay for shipping after you've gotten them. Unless you think they'll be sold somewhere online (not eBay) after the Con (like most SDCC & Wizard World Chicago exclusives are sold at online retailers a few days after the conventions)?

  5. I can't say how sick I am of looking at my Silver Surfer knowing he can't really "stick" onto his board.

Since we got two Surfers (three if you bought him by himself) what with Spidey 2099 and Thanos, I took the extra foot, and super-glued it to the extra board. That way, he still has two free feet, and a smooth, untouched, loose surfboard. I can just plug the "foot-board" into his leg whenever I want him to be stuck to it. :colossus:

(Yes, I know that's Colossus...but he was the only shiny silver smiley we have!!)

  6. Iron Spider-Man & Civil War Iron Man

Age of Apocalypse Weapon X & AoA Sabretooth

Space Suit Ben Grimm/Thing & "Supernova" (translucent) Human Torch

CHASE: Civil War "Spider-Man Unmasked" & Civil War Iron Man

I just feel like we haven't gotten enough variants yet.

(Can we feel the sarcasm dripping?)

(Not that I'd mind Age of Apocalypse 'mates...)

  7. UPDATES ARE IN ITALICS ON THE FIRST POST!!!

Added Jim Lee Wolverine (gave him shoulder pads, Civilian Logan's head and arms, facial stubble, and painted all the blue darker), Smiley Bone (finally a use for the Leader's head!!), my old Chris Redfield (with a really cool generic G.I.Joe-type handgun with a tiny flashlight on it - if only you could see it, alas, the perspective makes it all blurry...), my old Red Skull (with the photo color/quality slightly altered to match the background - his head is the right red, don't worry!), my old Captain Britain, my old U.S. Agent, my old Vindicator (James, since that's what I first knew him as, not Guardian), and my old Puck.

  8. Thanks. Though, I think it's because the red on his torso blends with the cape, which makes it look smaller, hence - larger melon.

Piece of Ghost Rider chain clasping his cape at the neck, the skull belt buckle is cut DVD case plastic, glued to a hinged, thin clear piece of Marvel Legends clamshell plastic threaded around his crotch peg (like Nightcrawler's tail, only non-existently thinner!), and a whole (handleless) GR chain wraps around behind him, connected only at the base of the skull as seen. Pain in the butt to Krazy Glue. All the spikes on Mr. Simmons came from Ghost Rider's shoulder pads. If I could remember the kind soul from the old Art Asylum board who sent me two or three GR pads, I'd recognize him by name. Thanks, man. The cape collar is the thin clear plastic on the outside of DVD cases. His hands are Venom's, to get the creepy claw thing goin'.

He took me about a month to complete, waaaaay back when I was first getting started customizing (and still throwing my customs onto my scanner to take pictures), and he's still one of my favorites.

The picture was taken without a flash, in a pitch black room, with only a single candle, positioned in front of and below the figure for lighting (so the Photoshop flames would look like they were casting the light).

He currently rests on a clear, 4-peg LoTR C3 stand, sticky-tacked to the tip-top pire of the Batcave, creeping the rest of my Minimates out. :blackspidey: (<--supposed to be ol' Hamburger face)

  9. All I can say is finish the series up and that's it.

They showed us series 2, they should just release that set and then they won't have to make any more.

And if they decide to do that, Distribute them where you can.......not just some video store most people haven't even heard of.

    Amen.

I have an idea. Take online orders. Only produce a quantity to match orders placed. 100% sales.

  10. The only Marvel Legends I collect are X-Men. I have half of a Wolverine tattoo (still trying to save up money to finish it). XIII is my favorite movie. Yes, I will be getting them the day they come out (hopefully, if I can afford it - still missing the 12 & 13 variants).

The Ghost Rider 'mates look cool. Even if they didn't, I'm a completist, so I'd still be buying them. Does anyone think I really wanted The Leader!?

This wave is amazing. They all look incredible. (I'm pretty sure I was the first person to use the Ultimate Wolverine hairpiece for a custom Quicksilver - and look what hairpiece they went with! Ha!)

One complaint. Why Wonderman, and not Hawkeye? If there's one Marvel property I love next to X-Men, it's the Amethyst Archer. Oh, well. Still buying them.

Keep up the good work, DST!!

  11. Hey I have a question for you customizers out there when you're using "ultra-fine" sharpies I seem to have a lot of trouble with the tip drying out , any body have a method to aleviate this problem I cant seem to go but an 1/8th of an inch and it stops working and I have to put the cap on for a few minutes and then repeat. I'm open to any ideas here as a regular fine point just seems to thick.

I keep a magazine subscription card handy, and when the Sharpie stops drawing on the 'Mate, I scribble on the card until it's dark again, then resume.

    That's what I do.

    Luke?

  12. Jetfire and Mirage are awesome!

Mirage is definitely cooler in your hands, than he is in pictures. I always thought he looked kind of stupid, but he's pretty neat when you're transforming him.

Jetfire's sweet, 'cause he has two forms in each mode. There's regular Jet and Robot modes, then with a few snap-on additions, he goes into ultra-mega mode. Both look equally cool. I keep switching back and forth with regular and mega (lol...I don't know what to call it!) modes on my display shelf.

A friend picked up Grimlock for me, but I haven't seen him yet since he bought it, so I haven't gotten a chance to enjoy the Dinobot. One of the few childhood memories that is still sticking in my waning short-term/long-term brain is playing with the original Dinobots. Mostly Grimlock and Slag. Those were good times.

    How's he measure up, DP?

  13. There are a few diecast pieces, but he's still mostly plastic. I personally like the combination of the two. I have an all diecast Optimus Prime (the Titanium Series), and he's impossible to pose/stand/transform, because the all metal is so loose, it all just hangs, and won't stay.

He cost me $59.99 on eBay with $10 shipping. The guy shipped it from NJ on Thursday morning, and I woke up (after noon, LOL) to it today!!

He is SO cool!! I've learned something, though. If you put Ravage in the front, and Laserbeak behind him (inside SW's chest), LB gets stuck. But, if you put Ravage behind LB, the door opens and closes smoothly.

    :apocalypse:
