  1. Guys, please bear in mind that certain publishing empires get very upset when their material is published online without permission. MMMV can't afford the lawsuits. Cheers.
  2. What's wrong with the present system? It's nice to have a thread devoted to your birthday. Happy Birthday guys, hope you're both having a good one.
  3. Welcome aboard Heli, get yourself down to the flea market where there are plenty of deals to be made.
  4. Oh crap, I just realised it's Wednesday and not Thursday You can tell what sort of week I'm having can't you?
  5. Not something celebrated anywhere else in the world but I know it's a huge holiday in the U.S. Hope all our U.S. based members are having a great day with their friends and families. I'll raise a glass to you later cheers
  6. I always thought of Gozer as asexual. DST have proved me very very wrong!!!
  7. I've had my 'mates domino off of my shelves so many times Caracal, so I share your pain. Losing bits of minimates drives me up the bloody wall! I was convinced I'd lost the kryptonite rock that comes with Lex and about 9 months later it turned up. It'd slipped between the shelves of the bookcase I was using as a display and had come to rest behind a row of tpb's. Just be methodical when you search for it. Clear the area around the where your 'mates are as best you can and then move everything (I mean everything) away from it. You will find that missing piece.
  8. You're 100% right. I wrote the review first and then went and checked the Star Sapphire 'mate to verify. I must have gotten sidetracked by my wife/son/cat/left foot on my way back to the computer and completely forgot to update the review. Mea Culpa. I'll ask Danny to correct it. Thanks for mentioning it.
  9. Luke, this is what I was trying to explain last week. A three tiered display stand. Mine also has flat lego slabs on it which the 'mates are pegged onto. Quite austere but then again they take nothing away from what's on display.
  10. Possibly the most 'wrong' sentence I have ever read on this forum!
  11. Cheers NR The bottom of the cars are riveted together front and back so getting them apart (and back together again) is nigh on impossible. You're right in that the axles are likely to just be simple steel rods but it's getting the wheels off and back on again safely that's foxing me.
  12. Cheers BHM, I've spent an evening googling for info myself. It just ain't out there I'll try and send you something tonight (family permitting).
  13. Specifically replacing the axles on hot wheels/Pixar Cars type toys. My Son has a huge collection of Pixar and Hot wheels cars but being 3 years old can be a bit heavy handed with them. He's buckled the axles on a couple, one of which is one of the rubber tired race cars recently released in the Cars line. and I'd really like to fix it for him. Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers.
  14. Similar to VBPannizi Top shelf: Movie/TV grouped by Movie/Show Next Shelf: Marvel by team/affiliation though older versions of 'mates get relegated to the shelf ends. Next Shelf: Marvel by team/affiliation with a big block of Marvel Movie 'mates at one end. Bottom Shelf: TV/Movie again but with DC in the centre sorted by team/affiliation with the JLA and JSA members toward the front. We. Are. All. So. Sad!
  15. Were you thinking of something like this? Maybe with just one peg in case you wanted to do a more dynamic pose? I didn't even know those existed. But no, what I had in mind was something along the lines of the 3 stepped stands that Ady and I got hold of a few years back, but with pegs molded in for 'mates to clip onto. I'll try to take a pic of my set up tonight so you can see what I'm getting at.
  16. Luke, have you considered just plain ol' display stands as well? Something along the lines of the stepped displays but with pegs for the c3 holes to sit on?
  17. Two great guys. Hope you're both having most excellent birthdays. Cheers
  18. Chuck, your feedback is appreciated. It's good to know that more sensible assortments are planned.
  19. Welcome to the forum LaughingMan. You've scored some great 'mates to start your collection with. Good work fella!
  20. I was going to say 'Hola' but Minimadman and MinimateEspo have made me feel silly now. Welcome to the site thewatcher.
  21. I completely agree with what Minimadman's saying. Exclusive to TRU is fine. Short packed? No, that's just wrong. The short pack concept works fine in the direct (LCS) market. And variant figures work fine in the retail market. EG: The way Marvel Legends used to work where you could get the iconic version of a character but if you were really lucky you might snag the ultra cool (canonical) variation. The situation here is that DST are releasing new characters, ridiculously short packed, into only one retail chain. And that retail chain can't even get it's act together enough to get the toys onto the shelves at the same time nationwide. This leads to scalping and hoarding by people that can't possibly be fans. I was absolutely staggered to see the Angel and Warpath set on e-bay at nearly $30.00 plus shipping! I just can't see how DST can make money on this current business model. The loyal fanbase get their 'mates from their LCS or online. These shortpacked minimates are getting snapped up by the 'smurfs' I just referred to but the regular figures are left stinking up the pegs. Piss off your fanbase enough DST and they'll desert you. Remember Playmates and the 1701 disaster.
  22. I am totally sick of this. Especially the 'Toys R us gets all the good stuff' quote on the DST blog post. Talk about a big Eff U to the people that have supported this line over the last 30 waves!
  23. Congratulations to you and your family Doc.
  24. That's a real shame. Winkerbean, if you're reading, I'm really sorry to hear this news.
