Oooh, this is really neat. I love the packaging to bits, inspiring them off the old Playmates figures is a fun choice. Can't wait.
ReAction did the same. One of the few times I liked the ReAction products.

I am not aware of more toy-based sets, specifically, but we have talked repeatedly about offering the cartoon-based sets, either through retailers (attempt 2) or as a web exclusive. Fingers crossed.
God I would LOVE this. The original protos for the cartoon ones year back were PERFECT.

I’m just curious how many sets they gotta sell to do more characters like this. I would love old skool bebop and rocksteady, casey jones, and for some reason rat king is one of my favorite villians of all time
Give me set 2 with Shredder, Kraang, Beebop, Rocksteady.
Set 3 with Splinter, Casey, April and Baxter Stockman.
4 with a Foot ninja/rock soldier pack.
And then 5, with Ray Fillet, Rat King, Leatherhead and Slash.
You wanna do set 6, Tokka, Razor, Mondo and Rex 1.

Not usually something we distribute, but hopefully the protos will be done soon.
Don't mind us, we're just ravenous and excited!

If Series 1 and 2 do well, maybe!
I'll buy a few, for fodder alone, but I'm really excited to see these!

AEW two-packs are potential exclusives. Not showing those until someone buys them.
Who at Ringside Collectibles do I need to beat in a Minimates on a Pole match?

Not that I am aware of. But we'll see. D&D Animated should get solicited next month - Series 1, anyway.
Any chance you can do a random DnD creature pack? Tiefling? Drow? Water nymph? Centaur? Etc?

Yeeeep. Toyark irks me. 6 inch or statues. They don't rarely ever post news to their front page for DC 3 75 or other 4 inch figures.
It's *very* skewed.

I would have preferred The Patriot and Stature Young Avengers but this is still a good set. I kinda see why they would have gone with this team over the other. All the young avengers have been hinted at through the MCU through either movies or the TV series but Hawkeye and America have been used as the actual characters and the looks are recognisable to ppl that aren't totally up-to speed on the characters.
When I always see new pieces used on Minimates I always think who else could that used for. Hulklings Wings made me think of Gargoyle straight away.
Come on Minimate Gods revisit The Defenders and give us Gargoyle, Hellcat, Astral Dr Strange, Valkyrie (Its time for another one), Son Of Satan, Red Guardian, Clea.
Yes I was a big Classic Defenders fan back in the day.
Hellcat is a major yes, but I would love a set of female ass kickers who have never had a minimate, say Aero, Misty Knight, Colleen Wing, White Fox, Elsa Bloodstone and Hellcat. Insta buy, three copies.
But man, it surprises me just how many Marvel characters still need a figure. Still, this set is a major win, giving us all first times except Marvel Boy. -

Nice!
are we expecting any other reveals at SDCC i forget
I had thought there was talk of revealing more GI Joe sets/plans, the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon series minimates, and while there have been some AEW minimates shown, there was talk of plans for some tag team two packs, but nothing about them being shown so may just be a 'there is more coming' but nothing to display/show, yet, so consider AEW minimates checked off, I would guess.
People were also thinking some 'TMNT' four pack was going to be shown. -
Anyone see anything on this at SDCC?

Gosh I cannot wait for these.

If you glue Kate's extra head to Hulkling's wings, this is basically an 8-pack.
... I'm sorry I had to. It's all in good fun.
In all seriousness, I'm excited for these. I really hope these aren't the last Young Avengers we see.
Weren't we supposed to see a TMNT set this weekend?
I thought TMNT was cancelled way back when the retro line staled cuz then current stuff was clogging? If they're about to bring out the retro stuff, I'll do f***ing flips.
I heard there was more of the GI Joes, Dungeons and Dragons (the animated series) and AEW being shown this weekend. AEW has been shown on the floor.

Yessir. Young avengers
Okay. This makes me happy. My Kate Bishop and America Chavez kit bash sucked. xD My Wiccan and Hulkling were alright enough, but MORE than happy to replace those.
Still hoping for news on GI Joe, or more of the AEW stuff, or the Dungeons and Dragons minimates.

Man I'm over here chomping at the bit to see more new minimate pics. No one is putting up pics of DST minimates that I can find. Barring the ones in this thread already, of course.

Mox might look alright with the hairpiece painted brown.

So the AEW 'mates look to be Britt Baker, CM Punk, Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, Hangman Page, Jon Moxley, Orange Cassidy, and one other I can't place.
Adam Cole.

OK, don't beat me up too bad over this pic...But, this is what I'd hope to eventually do with minimates...I started tracking these down before i ever knew there'd be minimates, or I may not have. I also have built a bunch of the vehicles, and am working on the GI Joe Headquarters. Still a bit to go for that though. A few little mods and i was able to fit minimates into the vehicles i made, and they actually look a little more in scale, so bonus ?
Great work and collection, but... No Baroness? Scarlett? Lady Jaye? Cover Girl? Zarana?

I have resisted saying anything, waiting til things cooled down a bit -- but I have thoughts.
On price, it is what it is. I don't believe DST is trying to make a mint and cackle all the way to their Scrooge McDuck vault full of gold coins. I'm sure raising the prices on a line that's hanging on by a thread was the last thing they wanted to do, and further it's because of that "thread" (i.e. not a lot of volumes produced) that they couldn't better temper the inflationary impacts to price point.
[trigger warning: I am assuming the line (Marvel) is, in fact, "hanging on by a thread," as evidenced by the skeleton crew that hits these boards, the loss of TRU and Walgreens as retail distributors, and the overall reduction in available product. I would be very happy to be wrong, so please tell me if you know something I don't.]
So, I'm happy that the line (Marvel Mates, specifically) is still around, and that they're still putting stuff out, full stop. I'll continue to pay market rate for the stuff I like.
However, I think there is some fair critique here on the character selection. It is really, really unfortunate that price increases are hitting in tandem with a set like this. Let's be real here: it's a five-pack with a head and a cape. It happens to be a head and a cape that I would really like to have, but I can understand how this admittedly supposed-to-be-quick-to-market set is tough to accept as the ambassador of yet another price hike.
If I hadn't seen this thread, and you told me MiniMates was doing a What If? box set, I'd probably say, "Wow!! Ultron?? Watcher?? Captain Carter??" Admittedly I might have also said, "Zombie Cap??" But I would have expected something that reflected the diverse character offering of the original content. The designs in this set are great, as they always are. The Marvel team does great work, and I'm sure everything has to have licensor approval so I know there is a lot of rigor applied and attention to detail. Just saying that when it appears that we have fewer and fewer shots to get characters out, and the price is increasingly becoming a deterrent, you need to make your shots count.
I think this is all accurate and fair, personally.
