  1. While I agree Drax was probably the least essential of the five to the plot, I think there's something to be said for the fact they got out all five of the core/original MCU Guardians, so I'm inclined to be okay with it. Say a kid buying these for the first time, who has no access to the initial Guardian waves, wants the whole team - well he can get them (I mean... arguably. Lets ignore the whole TRU situation w/ Rocket & Groot) Star-lord, Gamora & Rocket all had a lot of plot meat. Drax and Mantis were just kind of there (though they brought welcome comic relief, and some of the funniest moments of the movie). Groot was also kinda just there... but Groot is a toy selling machine. I think the two biggest omissions were Wanda & Vision, and since Vision's look hardly changes movie to movie, I can forgive him easily. Since Wanda is the character most TIED to Vision... I frankly think he probably dragged her odds down a bit. Easier to cut those two as a pair, than a fraction of the core Guardians.
  2. Now that I've seen the movie, while I totally agree Hulk is a waste of a slot (when considered within the movie's context)... it's hard to argue he doesn't bring more selling power than any of the alternatives. Don't exactly see Pepper, Wong, Wanda or Vision bringing more shelf appeal to the table than Hulk. Nebula? M'Baku? Okoye? Mantis? Anyone? No. I'm hard pressed here to find an unmade character on Hulk's starpower level. And many of these characters don't even have looks that are new/unique enough to warrant it (Granted, Hulk is one of said characters, but again, Hulk is Hulk). Shuri, I'll give a slight extra nod to, as she's the hot new wizkid on the block, so everyone seems to enjoy seeing more of her, and unlike Okoye, she actually had a different look in this movie BUUUUT... again. She's no Hulk. And her screentime was just as minimal. EVEN Armored Thanos... while highly appropriate to the movie... would have been a re-tread of a character, in a wave already over-stuffed with characters, and he honestly had ABOUT as much screentime as Hulk, to be fair. I admit, he'd have been an awesome get... but... I still think Hulk outweighs him sales-wise. Especially since they're both in Wave 1 (not that things couldn't have been shuffled around a bit) So anyway yeah... while Hulk definitely didn't NEED a minimate... at all. Given his screen time. It still makes sense to me that he got one. Would I have preferred a new Wanda? Absolutely. Do I think a new Wanda (or pretty much anyone else we didn't get) would have sold half as well? No I do not.
  3. While I support the general idea of this post, I don't want to live in a world where M isn't included in this wave. I'd take her before re-ups of all the characters we have already (Which would be... Madrox, Rictor, Shatterstar, Siryn, Wolfsbane & Longshot. Wow, we have more of these guys than I realized.) Particularly Madrox, who as you noted, we already got for this era. He's easily the one I'd boot for that reason, though I admit, he's not a smart choice to boot, as both the leader, and a natural army builder. It's not that I wouldn't appreciate X-Factor versions of all of them, I would... I'd just rather have any version of a new character over a second or third version of an old character. While not ideal, I could live with using the Deadpool Wave Siryn or New Mutants Wolfsbane as a stand-in. And frankly I feel M was a more longstanding core member of this team than Wolfsbane or Darwin. Or even Shatterstar who came later. Though that said, I would love to get a Darwin.
  4. I'm going to vaguely say... Operation Zero Tolerance? It's not that I have any particular love for the story, but I do have a particular love for that era of X-Men, and it's honestly an era that doesn't get much love. I've said it in other wishlist threads, but I'd love to get Marrow, Maggott, Cecelia. Bastion would be cool. A 90's X-Man in his Blue & Yellow attire would be great. I honestly don't remember if Joseph was still around in this story, but I'd love him too. AAAAAAND there's plenty of variants to go around for the more classic X-Men. Again, it's not the story that really screams at me, it's the fact that I'd like to start filling in X-Men minimates from this era, and this just happened to be one of the bigger stories from said era.
  5. For the first few weeks of clearance my TRU no longer appeared to be re-stocking anything, but I went in earlier this week and yeah, they definitely are re-stocking things... it's just... taking a while. I noticed they had some new Power Rangers Legacy products, appeared to get a bunch of new Tsum Tsums in (I'm a disney nerd, I check this)... and it looked like they'd re-upped a lot of board games, because I've been eyeballing a Clue silverline edition, and they were dwindling before, but they now suddenly have dozens. No new minimates or legends, but at least it's proof positive they're still getting new shipments. At first all my local stores were 10%-30% off (barely anything in the store was actually more than 10%) and now they're up to 20%-40% off (and barely anything in the store is over 20%) I'm eyeballing that Silverline Clue and a WWE replica title among other things. Kinda waiting out a bigger price drop. Clearances are hard... you know better discounts are coming, but if you wait too long, everything gets bought up. Gotta find that sweet spot.
  6. RE: Cloak being packed w/ Dagger I've often noticed in the past that the official preview images re-arrange two packs arbitrarily, so it looks like characters are paired differently. So that wouldn't be new.
  7. I'd say, "Well somebody return one!" but... I'm pretty sure TRU wouldn't even let you at this point. In any event, not a huge deal, as I already have one.
  8. To which store are you referring?
  9. I honestly dislike microfigures. Scale has never been a spot-on thing in this line in the first place, and I prefer a character as prominent as Rocket be done as a proper figure compatible with the rest of the line, than a glorified accessory.
  10. I never even saw an initial stock of them in my area, much less a restock. Luckily a family member picked up all 3 sets for me while on a trip, but I still wouldn't mind getting a second Chameleon pack. All my local TRU's still have a crapton of the prior series, Homecoming and Ragnarok warming pegs. Usually with a couple T'Challa's tossed in.
  11. I feel like I want to say M & Husk feel just as likely, if not more likely than Chamber to me... BUT... I admit my X-Men reading is about 3 to 5 years behind the curve. I'm currently reading back issues slowly via Marvel Unlimited, so I'm only caught up through about circa 2013. Circa 2013, Husk and M were being more prominently featured than Chamber... Chamber is kind-of still in limbo in my current reading... but that could all have changed in last 5 years for all I know. That's the disadvantage of reading back issues behind the curve, my perception of present day isn't running on current software.
  12. As I said several posts ago, I agree in that I don't think Skin would be a good body swap candidate anyway, so nothing is stopping him from having spare parts. As I also mentioned several posts ago, any spare parts Chamber needed would and could still fit OVER the basic body that came with Synch (same as Jubilee's would fit over the other girls) so no huge issue there either. Whether she was a single figure or a shared body, I agree that Husk's power would be better served with an extra torso and limbs, so I more or less see her in the same situation as Wolfsbane was in the New Mutants set... she'd essentially be a second minimate at the point you did her powers justice. Am I saying we could get the whole team out of 2 minimates? No. But there is still some room for a couple swappable options to parse down the overall figure total. I concede that all the pieces and crap required might be a bit much to squeeze into a four pack... I think it *could* be spread around a wave of 2 packs. But I think we all know at the end of the day neither of those things is likely to happen either way, and this is really just fun theorycrafting and speculation for fun and speculations sake. We're all aware Gen X is more than a long shot. As final thought, I disagree on Chamber. I prefer him in the red uniform with a black leather (more or less just like the second custom on the previous page) BUT that's what makes opinions opinions. I generally prefer costumes and uniforms over plainclothes on every character. *Shrug*
  13. I feel like while TMNT may technically be a cancelled line, that can technically be revisited, it certainly doesn't feel that way... as you can still find them in stores (on clearance mostly, but in stores nonetheless)
  14. I feeI like you're making a mountain of a mole hill with their necklines. Aside from Mondo and Skin, they're all zipped up to their necks. To call those V-Necks is more than a stretch. They could easily be a red peg with a yellow collar around the neck, which would more or less completely cover said peg. Even if they didn't have a collar piece, minimate necks are barely visible, they could probably just get away with yellow or red neck pegs (just as new mutants and strike force got away with yellow pegs for their multi-racial head swaps) I can't see where the basic Gen X Uniform's neckline is anywhere near low enough that it would need to be shown on the torso block. BUT... assuming skin color WAS a huge issue, for the sake of argument, I still think Husk and Jubilee would be entirely swappable. Frankly Synch and Chamber could still get away with it too, because Chamber's neck is 100% covered anyway, so it wouldn't matter if Synch's skin color showed on the neck because... it would theoretically have an energy blast covering it.
  15. So evidently my fuzzy memory lied to me about Gamora not wearing a trenchcoat... sorry. I'm kinda sad it's not Meat Lighter. I was hoping Meat Lighter V might open the door for more Meat Lighter... that said, Meat Lighter has had sister waves like Warble vs Slap-mom. It's not Warble vs. Slap-mom is it? Warble vs. Slap-mom has a new game coming out soon, no? (Or possibly recently released, I don't recall) With the Meat Lighter board game campaign on kickstarter right now my Meat Lighter hype is at an all time high right now... (go support it!) I also like Scar Fleck... but I've gotta be honest, I won't be too hyped for that unless they do some Star Fleck the Text Simulation. The original Star Fleck has been done in minimates enough. But seriously, Someone just say what it is. We're all cool here. The info won't be widely released. No one checks this place but us anyway. At least humorously rhyme what it is. Or PM me.
  16. Where did the Tiger thing originally come from? Walking Dead? Was this an Ezekial request? I have no idea where it originated on this forum, I just see it thrown on the joke pile all the time.
  17. Technically all of them... since there's no specialty boxed set and no toys r us wave. Though since the Toys R Us wave is... still going to be sold SOMEWHERE (even if we don't know where yet)... I'd imagine Hulkbuster and Cap are the shared sets? Being they contain Headliners and all? But I'm honestly not certain. I could see where the Guardians set could be too. Maybe. After all, Thor was a Walgreens exclusive, so headlining isn't everything. 90% sure War Machine is a Walgreens Exclusive.
  18. I feel like Chamber would be easier to convert into Synch than Skin would, TBH. Slap a leather jacket piece, new head and arms, and an around the neck energy effect onto a basic red torso and legs and you have Chamber. Wheras Skin usually had bare legs and arms, and a lowcut neckline, as was mentioned earlier, meaning he'd need to replace not just the head and arms, but all four limbs. Possibly even the torso block. At that point all he retains in common is the crotch piece. And Jono's handkerchief face vs. energy blast face would be easy enough to achieve... just print the handkerchief on the head block, and hide it under the (removable) around the neck energy effect. The girls I do think would be much easier swaps. Husk and M could be as little as just the head. Jubilee is head + coat (so arms as well) I can't see where we'd ever get a boxed set without an Emma in it. We might be able to get away with skipping Banshee, but Emma is more relevant now than she was then. That said, that's too many spots. Emma, Husk/M, Chamber/Synch leaving Jubilee and/or Skin. Unless they pushed the female figure to a triple conversion between Husk/M/Jubilee.. but I think they try to avoid situations like that, because they don't want to force collectors to buy 3 sets to get the entire set. (and wind up with numerous doubles as a remainder)
  19. I find your lack of Penance disturbing. I think Husk and Jubilee could get away with using the same skintone. I realize one is a blonde white girl and one is Chinese... but... Jubilee, frankly, is often drawn looking very Caucasian. Thanks to the 90's cartoon there are many casual fans who just assume she IS white. Her 90s and Strike Force minimates both look fairly Caucasian to boot. They could get away with it in minimate form. That said, I agree, that I don't think any of them have great odds. Just wishful thinking really. I do think the surviving members who went on to become actual X-Men have a better chance of slipping into waves in their modern forms, than we ever have of seeing a whole wave of Generation X minimates. Similar to the way we randomly got characters like Siryn & Warpath, slipped into odd X-Men waves. I could see M getting into a random wave one day (or if they ever blessed us with Modern X-Factor, she could easily fill out a 2-Pack)... Husk has been a secondary X-Man long enough to pop in virtually anywhere if we were lucky someday. She'd make a good partner for a random Archangel, as they had that romance for a while. Chamber... I feel like his odds were better 10 years ago. When he was still actually an active X-Man. He's kind-of fallen into the background/limbo a lot in more recent years. I feel like Skin had good odds back in Gen X's heyday, but yeah, now he's been dead for too long. Synch, frankly, I don't think ever had great odds, he didn't even make the retail lineup for the Gen X action figures as I recall (and was a toyfair exclusive, I want to say). And being dead and 20 years later certainly doesn't help his odds now.
  20. That happened to me back around Animated Wave 2 or 3. Never did see those in stores, had to pick up most of them using a hodgepodge of ebay/Luke. Luckily my local stores seem to have shaken that habit off and stock new waves regularly now. What I found funny is my hometown store still had their minimate shelf completely bare from the recall, other than the 4 packs of the new wave. It was 2 completely empty pegs, with just the 4 sets I was looking for dangling awkwardly in the middle. I assume they have all their other minimates in a pulled from shelf box in the back somewhere.
  21. Yeah, I'm a chronic avoider of attention, sorry. Nothing personal. In fact I'm pretty sure if you dug into this forum hard enough you could find posted evidence from past years where board members missed me at C2E2. If it makes you feel better, on the show floor I saw a girl I've known on and off for about 5 years, an old buddy from High School, and Daniel Pesina, the guy who played Johnny Cage in the first two Mortal Kombat games, and I didn't say hi to any of them either. (And I'm a huge enough Mortal Kombat fan to recognize Daniel Pesina on sight, for frame of reference.) You and I have met, for the record. Briefly. (In an acknowledged way, lol) Two, maybe three times? Though I don't blame you at all for not recalling. You see way more faces at way more cons per year than I do, and again, I'm usually one to duck from attention.
  22. He showed a John Wick select toy... I believe he said John Wick minimates and maximates would also happen down the road, but no pics or anything. I have no idea what this returning license could be or is. He showed a new specialty 4 pack of Nightmare Before X-Mas minimates, but I wouldn't call them "returning" (though a 4 pack is kind-of a new thing for that line). As mentioned, I did miss the first 5-10 minutes of the panel.
  23. Oh he also mentioned that the Sonic Minimates probably would have been at TRU but obviously won't be now... he said they were talking to Gamestop about picking them up, as while Gamestop hasn't traditionally carried Minimates, they're fairly big on Sonic merchandise. (But that's not definite or anything, he just said it was something they were looking into)
  24. He said Alien 4 is produced and will need to find a new home somewhere else. I asked him after the panel if Marvel 26 was produced, and he again said yes and will need to find a new home somewhere. I have no idea on Kingdom Hearts, I was a few minutes late to the panel, and missed the Kingdom Hearts stuff. He more or less confirmed lots of stuff that was in the pipeline (not just minimates, but lots of stuff) is produced in a warehouse somewhere, and while they don't know how it's all going to get out yet... it needs to get out, because it's made already, haha. So it will find a home somewhere eventually.
