Age of V: Chapter 1

The main chamber is briefly illuminated as the team slips through the open door.

"Fan out, make sure we're alone," Havok directed his team.

The small team of mutants searched the main chamber before adjourning to the center of the room.

"Cable's intel seems to be correct. Looks like the place is abandoned, Havok. If there's anything left of Hydra, I'd say they've been long gone from this facility," said Beast.

"Good, we'll set up shop here and figure out what our next move is."

Havok. How long had it been since he started calling himself that? How long since the attack on the mansion? Since everything went so wrong? No time for those thoughts now. His team needed him. The world needed him. There would be time to mourn later.

"Forge, see about getting the power running again. We'll need to be able to see if we're going to defend this place."

"I'd say you're too late for that," said Wonder Man, as he stepped from a secret door in the wall. He wasn't alone. Several of the supposed Avengers emerged from similar doors spaced out across the chamber. "I really do wish you'd give up this fight. It would be much easier on all of you if you'd submit now. I'd hate to have to make more...examples of what happens when you resist."

Havok scowled with hatred at the remark. "You have enough to answer for as it is."

X-Force attacked.

gambit2.jpg

Forge: Forge works as the weapons smith for X-force. he designs and creates any tech they need. He specializes in reprogramming downed visions drones, he calls these 'rovers'. he has become particulary fond of one rover unit which he renamed 'danger'.

forge.jpg

Mimic: Rogue also was not there when the vision was destroyed, she was aiding the mutants of genosha in their evacuation. Her and the rest of the mutants who were helping were attacked by a an android version of juggernaught. the android ripped mimic in half when he attempted to defend rouge, with his dying breath mimic grabbed rogues hand, causing her to absorb his powers. She now can mimic any mutants ability without needing to touch them, she currently has over 200 powers stored inside her.

aovmimic02.jpg

Beast: hank was at the mansion when it happened, he was tending to charles who was injured from his attempt to stop vision, when the destruction began charles used all his energy to make beast leave him and escape. Age of V: Chapter 2: Vengance is Best Served Silver

Hawkeye silently made his way through the shattered remains of a city. He wasn't quite sure which one. So many had vanished at the end of the super human war. So many lives had been lost that day.

The war had raged on for far longer than anyone would have hoped. Never before had the villains produced such a unified front. The combined might of the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men should have been enough to quell the uprising, and things looked to be well in hand. Then...well, then the whole universe decided it was very interested in how things worked out on one simple, insignificant little planet called Earth. Things went crazy. Friends fell, cities with them. Never before had they fought so hard.

In the end, Vision and a select few were still standing. A new era of peace was ushered in, with the remains of humanity rounded up into a perceived Utopia, with a promise of safety from whatever enemy still remained.

Of course, they didn't know Vision had been a key part of humanity's destruction. Those who had survived the final days had two choices: accept their new reality and integrate, or be branded traitors and find themselves hunted to extinction.

Clint chose the latter. Granted he wasn't too keen on the extinction part. That's why he was searching the remains of the old world for anyone else who had survived and chose not to bow. He'd already made contact with a few fallen heroes, but they'd need more help if they hoped to tackle Vision and his subordinates.

The last thing he needed was the silver figure gliding behind him.

-----

"Any new word from the field?"

Tony Stark turned away from the bank of computers he had been monitoring to address his long time friend. "No word from Clint yet."

Steve Rogers sagged at the lack of news. "I should be out there with him. Two sets of eyes would get the search done twice as fast."

"But then we'd be defenseless here. I'm hardly in any shape to take on Vision's army by myself," Tony said wryly, tapping his chair to emphasize his point. "Clint will be fine, and hopefully should bring good news soon. Surely they couldn't have all joined up with Vision."

"I wish I had your optimism, Tony."

Suddenly, one of Tony's computers issued an alert. Tony hammered away at the keyboard, unscrambling the message from Clint.

"Good news?" asked Steve.

"I'm afraid not. It says he's under attack."

The Avengers:

Director Stark

In the closing days of the super human war, Hank Pym brought some startling news to Tony's attention regarding the cause of the villain uprising. The two confronted Vision at the top of Avengers Tower, prepared to bring Vision down if necessary. Unfortunately, Vision was prepared for the encounter. Vision disabled Tony's armor before making quick work of Hank. He then hurled Tony through the window, where he plummeted to the ground.

While the armor saved Tony's life, he found himself crippled from the fall, with his memory of events rather fuzzy. Now Tony leads the underground resistance, with close allies Steve Rogers and Clint Barton.

Commander Rogers

As the dust settled on the super human war, Steve Rogers was confronted by a crippled Tony Stark with some startling news: Vision had orchestrated the entire affair!

Steve assembled the Avengers, who confronted Vision at the base of Avengers Tower. However, the attack did not go well. Betrayed by some amongst their ranks, the rest of the Avengers were quickly thwarted when Vision brought Avengers Tower down on their heads. Shortly after, the city of New York was leveled, a blast that corresponded with the destruction of other cities around the world.

Steve Rogers managed to survive the destruction of New York, with friends Clint Barton and Tony Stark, going underground. With the world in ruin and America gone, Captain America is no more, but Steve Rogers lives on, fighting to restore the world to its former glory.

--

Hawkeye

Clint Barton led a division of Thunderbolts during the super human war. As the war raged on, adequate equipment became harder and harder to come by, causing Hawkeye to venture outside of the usual weapon sets he employed and adopt fire arms into his arsenal. Clint was amongst the Avengers assembled to bring down Vision at the close of the war, and also one of the few to walk away from the destruction of New York. Clint's wife Bobbi Morse aka Mockingbird was lost in the chaos and is presumed dead.

In the days that followed, Clint was able to reunited with Steve Rogers and Tony Stark. With the assistance of Tony and Steve, Clint continues to search the remnants of the world for some sign of resistance that can help end Vision's reign, and make him pay for that which was lost.

Visons reapers:

Silver Scythe

Norrin Radd aka the Silver Surfer was alerted to a massive disturbance on the distant planet Earth and came to offer what assistance he could to his friends the Fantastic Four. As the scale of the villain uprising spirals into a full blown super human war, the heroes of Earth are distracted from an underlying plot. Vision, mastermind of the war, simulated a call to Galactus, devourer of worlds, summoning him to Earth. Surfer, sensing the signal, heads to its source and confronts Vision himself. Sadly, this was all according to Vision's plans. When Surfer breaks into Vision's hidden lair, he is quickly brought down by defenses prepared in advance. Vision kills the Silver Surfer and harnesses his cosmic energy.

As the war draws to a close, Galactus arrives at Earth, only to be dispatched by the Vision's power cosmic. Rather than end the potential threat, Vision instead plugs him into the Galactus Engine, an orbiting space platform used to power Vision's army of drones. The drone armies are modeled after the fallen heroes of Earth, including the Silver Scythe, a corrupted version of the Silver Surfer.

Age of V: Chapter 3

Two lone figures made their way across the desert. In the years that had passed since the war had ended, the desert had reclaimed much of the midwest. Signs of civilization were disappearing all over the world.

Thrust together by chance while escaping from the remains of New York, Matt Murdock and Ben Reilly had established a good partnership. Matt's heightened senses, paired with Ben's spider sense, ensured that there would be few surprises. Not that they avoided danger completely. It had been a hard journey.

"Why are we headed to California?" Ben asked.

"Vision pretty much has the east coast within his fist," Matt responded. "I'm hoping the west isn't so firmly in his control. Besides, the Avengers used to operate out here, so maybe we can find some help."

Vision's patrols had presented numerous challenges. Through their combined skills, they had managed to avoid capture, if only just. Still, surviving on the countryside for five years could be quite depleting. The fact of the matter was that they wouldn't make it much longer on their own. They needed help.

Sadly, help was not what they found.

Chapter3.jpg

The two paused as they reached the top of a hill. "We've got trouble," was all Ben was able to say before mechanical arms erupted from the ground around them. The fight did not go well.

-----

Matt Murdock

Daredevil was amongst the heroes assembled at Avengers Tower to confront Vision at the end of the super human war. When New York fell to the ensuing blast, Matt's heightened senses were disrupted by the noise, essentially disabling him.

Matt was rescued from the wreckage by Ben Reilly, who stuck with Matt until his senses slowly returned. Together, the two have since set off westward in hopes of finding help or just a safe haven.

Matt01.jpg

--

Ben Reilly

At peace with the knowledge of being a clone, Ben Reilly led a quiet life in Denver until the super human war started. He returned to New York as the Scarlet Spider to help Spider-Man and the other heroes quell the villain uprising. As the war drew to a close, Ben was in New York when it was destroyed.

Emerging from the wreckage, Ben discovered a disabled Matt Murdock and helped guide him from the city. When Matt's heightened senses returned, the two ventured west in search of aid in the battle against Vision. Though Matt needs his help, Ben is haunted by thoughts of returning to New York in hopes of finding out what happened to Peter Parker and his loved ones.

Age of V: Chapter 3 - part 2

Punisher War Journal. Day 4673.

Led a group of the soldiers out on patrol. The ones I trust. Not all the members of the team were crooks, strong arms, killers. Don't hold it against them for joining up. Sometimes, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Took the team north. Scouts hadn't ventured that way in a while. Proved to be a useful trip. Ran across a couple of old acquaintances.

Daredevil. Matt Murdock. Along with Spider-Man. Not sure if it was the original or one of the others that have surfaced over the years. They had run afoul of one of Vision's Octo-drones. Desert is littered with them, waiting to catch anyone who ventures too far out of the safe zone.

Spector took out the arm that was restraining Murdock. LaMuerto ran in to lend a hand. Seems he and Murdock have a history. Had the new girl keep the rest of the squad back. Last thing I need is all of us getting snared up in this trap. Can't afford to lose these men. Trust is too valuable a commodity now.

I freed the Spider. Between the five of us, we were able to subdue the drone. Minimal damage to the squad. Minimal resources spent.

Rules say to take them in. Rather let them go. They're too good to get mixed in with this. Worked with them before. They may hold too ideal a picture of the world, but I can trust them. Trust is too valuable a commodity now.

Mercinaries for Hire:

Punisher

Frank Castle was amongst the first to learn of the massing of super villain forces. Where the rest of the world was surprised by the start of the super human war, the Punisher was prepared.

Exiled from New York, where his fatal tactics did not sit well with the assembled heroes, Frank set out west to carry on the battle in less defended areas.

The war drew to a close. The heroes and villains both lost, with Vision standing victorious. Frank found himself mixed in with a collection of fallen heroes and villains, united in a fight for survival. Frank has decided to make the best of the situation to keep an eye on the scum of the Earth and insure that punishment is handed out where it is deserved.

punisher5.jpg

Moon Knight

Marc Spector found himself on the west coast when the super human war broke out. During the war Moon Knight crossed paths with Frank Castle, the Punisher, with the two establishing a tenuous partnership in an effort to protect the innocent.

With the war ended, and the bulk of the world destroyed, Marc was recruited into a unit of heroes and villains, united to protect a pocket of the world where people could live safely in peace. Though he chafes at having to side with villains, the innocent come first.

moonknight2.jpg

Black Tarantula

Carlos LaMuerto has found himself on both the side of good and evil in the past. When the super human war broke out, he was hesitant to pick a side. When the Hand used the conflict as a veil for their own nefarious purposes, Carlos teamed up with Electra and others to quell the ninja uprising.

As the conflict drew to a close, LaMuerto found himself in the west. Eventually, word reached him that someone was amassing an army of heroes and villains to guard a small civilization. LaMuerto's nobility, paired with the handsome salary he'd be offered for his services, led him to join up with the group.

blacktarantula.jpg

Vulture

In the aftermath of the super human war, many civilians were unhappy with being powerless to forge their own destiny, some of which sought ways to enhance themselves to establish a foothold in the new world.

Sergei Kravinoff, known as Kraven the Hunter, was amongst the villainous survivors of the war. Recruited into the growing army of heroes and villains, Kraven set out to train those unhappy with their status and give them an edge to survive.

Amongst Kraven's wards is a young girl who would take on the role of Vulture.

Age of V: Chapter 3: Part 3

Frank led Ben and Matt through the ruined city of Las Vegas. The city had toppled during the early stages of the war, when the Hulk had gone on a rampage, leveling much of the once thriving town. Now much of the world mirrored it.

Outside one of the casinos, perhaps the least damaged in the city, a small crowd congregated, a few recognizable faces, but mostly unknown ones. They all stopped what they were doing as the new arrivals approached. A lone figure emerged from within and headed towards them, as Punisher came to a halt, turning to address the two heroes. "Here's where we part company. Taskmaster there will get you acclimated to your new positions and introduce you to the man in charge around here."

Taskmaster placed his hands on Ben and Matt's shoulders. As Punisher walked away, he called out, "Hey Frank, how's the family?" Punisher paused for a moment before resuming his departure.

"Such a great guy. So, let's get you two settled in." Taskmaster led the duo into the casino.

"Before we continue, I'm going to need you guys to surrender your gear. We'll get you decked out in something a bit more appropriate later, but for now, just set your stuff on the table over here." Ben and Matt dropped off their weapons and equipment, unease growing in the pair.

"Good, let's continue then, shall we?"

As they wound their way through the casino floor into the center of the building, they passed groups of mercenaries milling about. "The boss has been pulling in all sorts of staff since the war. Any of the black hats or white hats who couldn't find a place in this new world were offered a spot here. We take what we find and we survive."

"We're not actually bad guys here. We're doing good work and keeping Vision's grubby mitts away from our people. I know a lot of these folks you used to claim as enemies, but we're all friends here now."

---

A lone figure stood high up on a balcony overlooking the floor, watching Taskmaster lead Matt and Ben deeper into the complex. His fist tightened on the rail a bit at the sight of one of the men in particular.

---

The tour ended outside of a lavish suite, guarded by a large brute at the door. Ben was horrified at the sight of the man. "You're keeping him alive? After what he did!?"

"Easy, bug," Taskmaster responded. "Bruce is a much calmer guy now. Boss saw to that."

The Hulk opened the door to the suite, allowing the three to continue.

Taskmaster led them to the center of the room, and a dais. A familiar figure sat perched on a throne.

"Gentlemen, allow me to introduce you to our fearless leader." Ben and Matt were taken aback by the man on the throne.

Taskmaster continued. "Bow before King Deadpool."

"DUN DUN DUN! PLOT TWIST!"

Page_3-2-1.jpg

Taskmaster

Taskmaster found himself on the villain side during the war, helping train them to do battle with the heroes. As the war stretched on, and a third party began to emerge and overwhelm the heroes and villains, Taskmaster recognized a losing battle and did what all smart people would do in his situation. He ran.

The war drew to a close, and the world in ruin, Taskmaster found himself with more than enough money to retire, but nowhere to spend it. In his travels, he crossed paths with an old acquaintance, Wade Wilson, and did what he did best: adapt to his environment to better his own chances of survival.

taskmaster.jpg

---

Hulk

During the opening days of the war, the Hulk went on a rampage through the streets of Las Vegas, causing the eventual destruction of the city when a massive explosion wiped out a good chunk of the Nevada desert town and seemingly killed the Hulk. The destruction is blamed on the Hulk, but that may not have been the actual case.

After the war ended, Deadpool arrived in the remains of the city and found Hulk's body in the rubble. The body was recovered and modified to make him a more passive servant to Deadpool himself.

hulk-3.jpg

hullk2-2.jpg

---

King Deadpool

During the war, Deadpool found himself in the employ of Nick Fury, who tasked him with rooting out the culprit behind the conflict. Before Wade could use his unique skill set to conquer the task, the war ended, and the true mastermind, Vision, stood victorious.

The world in ruins and Deadpool without an employer, he instead ventured west, settling on Sin City as the capital of his new stronghold, crowning himself "King of the World or at Least as Much of it as I Can See (Which Admittedly Isn't a Whole Heck of a Lot)" which he later shortened to King Deadpool.

He has since used his time to amass an army of former heroes and villains to act as his own mercenary force, and has accumulated a few relics from the war which might hold some significant value.

Whether he'll use this seat of power to topple Vision's forces, or just bask in the glory of ruling his own kingdom remains to be seen.
