In the credits we hear a conversation with two men we have never heard before saying that "he" is going into shock and to get "him" into the animus. What I feel is that this unseen or unmentioned man is possibly a descendant of Desmond trying to find the apple through his ancestors memories the same way Desmond is. Maybe i have seen Inception one time too many but a memory within a memory is possible. What if this whole thing, the series and all, was to set up some post apocalyptic world where the assassins run as free with open combat as they did in the old world but some technology on their side?
