A little over protective???

Stupid, porn-crazed hobos come up with the best games for minimates.

Seriously though, the only person who ever takes an active interest in my minimate collection is my little brother. 19 years my junior, Jacob has become a bit of a collector/customizer too. Lacking the artistic skills and equipment to adequately create a new character, he usually resorts to part swaps and the occasional Sharpie to make people. Granted, his people are never based off of actual characters and they all seem to have the same powers ("all the powers except for Wolverine's"), but he tries. He's just now gotten to the point where he'll stop destroying the figures I give him and instead use the spare parts he's acquired through me, meaning his collection has, in tact, Human Torch, Invisible Woman, Powerhouse Thing, Racer X, Sandman, Ben Reilly, the New Avengers 4 pack, the Astonishing X-Men 4-pack, Beast, Kitty Pride, Ghost Rider, and Daredevil. I could hammer off quite the list on destroyed characters he has, including the exclusive Punisher, plus custom Shocker, Hobgoblin, and Scarlet Spider. He almost got a Symbiote Spider-Man, but I second guessed myself and ended up selling the extra figure to Logan (here's hoping he took better care of it  )

As for my collection, he knows that some figures are more important than others and thus he knows which ones to take care of and which ones he can go to town on in a good ol' fashion minimate beatdown. Variants and customs are handled more gently by his 6 year old hands, while newer releases and wide release figures can handle his style of fighting. I do cringe a little when I see him slam two minimates together, but deep down, I know there's no damage he can do that I can't fix and that I never planned on selling any of the ones he plays with for profit, so there's no harm.

I received my first commissioned order this past week, from Jacob of course, for a minimate Danny Phantom. I still have to clear coat the figure then take a picture before giving it to him, but part of me wonders if it'll survive the test of time.

You little brother reminds me of mine. He takes good care of the extras, but once you turn your back, BAM, part swaps(which usually result in missing parts) galore! But other than that, he's been good with a couple of his, notably Spider-Man and Sandman. Oh, Drgn, I have definitely tooken good care of Black Spidey. He and Classic Wolverine are the prizes of my collection!

No one cares about my collection  . We had an open house yesterday, only a few of my friends commented on them, and they may have just pitied me. There were even some children over and nothing not a word. Granted I only had the bat cave set-up but still that is pretty big and noticeable, especially with the batmoblie and the batwing parked next to it too.

Whatever, I say hey, its your collection, just slap their hands and tell them “you look with your eye not your hands!†As for those of you with kids, you should be really happy you kids are into this stuff. My LCS owner was just saying that out of his 5 kids, none of them are into comics at all! It makes cense too. My parents were not into comics or had large collection of actions figure. I don’t think they even saw Spiderman (one or two!). However I am not saying let them go willy-nilly with your black Spiderman. But hey I don’t want to tell you how to raise your kids I am just trying to express how lucky you are.

Sliding glass cabinet for my collection, but still got a little bit longer before I have to worry about a bub deciding to test the Minimate age limits. Apart from my wife playing with whoever is out sitting next to my monitor, generally a FCBD mate, everybody else that comes over doesn't touch them, perhaps scared of being made into immature toy collectors throwing money down a worthless sinkhole or so I've been told...

I know exactly where you guys are coming from. In fact, my family considers me a little OCD. It's not just about my Mates though, it's everything. I have my Xbox 360 controller and my Wii Remote and they are mine. I cring when we are playing a 4 player game and someone is like, "Dude, sit this one out and let me play". Then I hand them the controller and a tear fills my eyes. In fact, as of last week I bought a 5th Wii Remote to make sure this doesn't happen. Likewise, I'm the same way with my Minimates. I love to show people and I like to pose them differently. However, when they want to hold them I stop breathing for a second. Good thing for me, I keep a small box of all the extra Wolverine and Spider-Man figures that I have.....and I just give them one of those :D. So, in the end I don't know what my family is talking about, OCD, HA ;). neo
