  1. They are using the other characters, just not as much as Batman. In the the 2019 sets they've showed so far Aquaman and Flash are included. Superman, Lobo, Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Firestorm, Cheetah, Cyborg, Reverse Flash, Killer Frost, and OMAC were all in 2018 sets, plus a few others in Lego's impossible to obtain promos. I get that it's not ideal for collectors but for Lego it is ideal to be the only place you can go to get your DC block figure fix and they are no doubt paying handsomely to make that happen. I have no doubt there's some way to work a license so that DST could make DC minimates again but in the end it's probably not worth it to DC if it makes Lego unhappy.

  2. You guys seem to be illustrating quite well why Lego wouldn't want DC minimates to come back. As for the difference between DC and Marvel, it's easier to hold back a line that doesn't exist than to cancel a successful one that does. Think Hasbro and Marvel Select.

  3. No thanks. I already have something like 30 Aliens, I don't need any more. Which I suspect is part of the problem, most of the line was the same figure with minor variations over and over and over. If DST could give us something new, like properly done Kenner Aliens, then maybe you'd have something, but we all know that's not happening. It's disappointing with everything that was produced we end up two figures short of what we need to make the line feel complete.

Got the word from DST on Facebook that this is the only Skrull figure included for the movie, sadly.

Only one Skrull and he's in a boxset? That sounds about right.

Carol and Att-Lass don't look very good to me. I think it must be the faces because the uniforms look as I'd expect them to. Minn-Erva on the other hand is much more interesting, depending on accessories, which I expect are going to be limited.

Jeez, they couldn’t give Captain Marvel a jacket piece instead of painting it on her?

I agree, making the jacket a tampo doesn't look as good and reduced my interest in the figure. I assume they would say it's being done that way because of the hair.

  6. I'm surprised DST managed to cover as many characters as they did. I'm fairly satisfied with what we got (still can't believe they didn't give us a Shepard with a helmet), though I would buy just about anything from the first three games, including variations of the main characters. I think blind bags hurt the line a lot but I'm not sure it would have got much farther in a more accessible format.

  7. Personally I'd like to see Iron Fist get another season somewhere to resolve the teaser from the end of the season, I want some live action Orson Randall.

This makes the cancellations of the other shows look better because there's no way there was an issue with Daredevil's ratings in Season 3. It has to be Disney taking their toys home. Hopefully they don't screw it up.

  8. Minimates are the only line I can think of that has maintained a consistently lower price for something like a 2-pack while increasing the price of the boxset with twice as many characters. While not a completist I still buy most Marvel minimates and I still find it hard to pull the trigger on boxsets unless there's a significant discount. I ended up not buying the Black Panther set for this reason, well, that and the crazy amount of duplication in that set. If a dedicated minimate buyer hesitates to buy these I can't imagine less serious collectors are eager to buy.

  9. If Captain Marvel minimates end up being in a boxset I think I'm more likely to skip them completely than buy multiples. Has DST lost faith in anything that's not an Avengers movie?

  10. I suspect the ease of posting pictures on FB is part of it, though from my experience in a different FB group it's really a horrible way to run a fan community. I also have to think the rate of new releases and the general feeling that DST is focusing less on minimates is a factor.

  11. Now that I have these in hand I agree. The pearlescent plastic looks nice but doesn't seem to really match the movie. I also find it a little odd that the detail lines on Ghost are gray on the body but black on the head. Maybe it's an attempt to suggest phasing?

I'm disappointed Hank's helmet doesn't have a transparent visor however it is consistent with Ant-Man and Wasp so I suppose it makes sense. The extra head inside is bizarre and also really difficult to remove. Wasp is good and comes with a much better flight stand than the recent Demogoblin. Ant-Man's chest is a notably different color than his arms and legs and it kind of ruins the figure for me, it's too bad since DST has really done a good job on this sort of thing in the last few releases. The feet all fit on the stands well and aren't the same mold as the wave 76 feet.

But... but we showed a photo of the set with unmasked heads for everyone EXCEPT her. So I thought that would be the least surprising thing. At no point was that even a suggested possibility. Unless you were surprised when we first showed it.

I suppose I should clarify, I understood the figure was going to be released without an alternate head, I'm surprised and disappointed it would happen given the character spends as much time in the movie unmasked as masked. It's the kind of thing that's causing me to slowly lose interest in movie minimates.
