  1. That mask on Wolverine looks TERRIBLE :yucky: ! Why use that mask, rather then the wave 28 mask? And where are his pointy boots? Hopefully, we'll get those things sorted out by the time of the release.

    I agree completely. With as many Wolverines as they release you would think they could justify a new modern wolverine mask that would look right.

  2. I don't know about the rest of you, but Hulk having toes but not fingers makes him look odd to me. I do like the different hairpiece, I've been hoping they'd make some minor changes like that to the pack that's repeated in the specialty and TRU wave.

  3. Picked these up this morning. I was a bit skeptical about these, but they more or less won me over. I wish they came with more realistic weapons, or maybe one historical and one fantastic apiece. They obviously put a lot of work into the sculpts, but I can't help but think that both weapons and the 'mates themselves might be better if they were just a bit less ornate.

  4. I'm not impressed by the new costumes at all. How do you mess with Superman?

    I'll be interested to see what they actually do with continuity. Making the characters more "modern and diverse" is pretty vague, and it's hard to believe that Blackest Night or Morrison's Batman work is going to be thrown away.

  5. Sabertooth felt ill-assembed with the chest cap and height extender (I didn't think he was supposed to be in the same "scale" as jumbo guys like Hulk and Juggernaut...).

    Based on the figure I have and the photos in this thread, I think most if not all of the chest caps for Sabretooth are stretched out, like they were warped being pulled out of the mold, so they don't fit snug at all. Of course since my Sabretooth came with two left hands and Wolverine's head a loose chest cap was the least of his problems.

    Also, if you look back at the picture on the first page of the thread, it looks like Sabretooth and Omega Red didn't have the height extenders. I think they both look better this way.

  6. A long overdue update.

    Top 10:

    * Thunderstrike

    * Major Victory

    * Gladiator (Kallark)

    * Annihilus

    * Black Knight

    * Iron Fist (Orson Randall)

    * Darkhawk

    * Drax the Destroyer (Guardians of the Galaxy)

    * Star-Lord

    * Executioner (Has to come with an axe and two M-16s.)

  7. Same could be said about Lizard and look how (insert adjective you think fits best) he looks without any sculpting.

    DST ended up calling him "Silver Age" Lizard, a version of the character that was less lizard-like and didn't have much of a snout, so I think they bought themselves some cover on that one. I don't think there's a way to work around doing a sculpted head for Beta Ray Bill and I don't think they'll try.

  8. I'm excited to see Beta Ray Bill, I was afraid we might get through all the Thor product without him being made. Wonder how they are going to differentiate Civil War Cap and Secret War Cap from previous releases?

  9. I always wonder about that "tooling is the most expensive part of the process" conventional wisdom. The way toys are made these days is much different (and more complex) than two, three decades ago. It makes me wonder if it's an apples-to-oranges comparison: tooling might have been the expensive part back in the days of 5-POA figures with minimal paint apps, but compared to the labor cost of assembling contemporary figures with thirty or forty moving parts and several colors plus a wash (or hand-applying tampos, for that matter), I wonder if it is anymore. No doubt it's expensive, but is it still the budget-breaker?

    Given the amount of sculpt reuse by other companies (see Mattel) it seems like tooling must still be a major driver of costs. It would be interesting to see the breakdown though.

    However much tampos cost, they really shouldn't be simplifying Spider-Man like they have lately. I'll buy variants with little complaint, but it's hard to stomach when they look so cheap.

  10. It seems like the Wave 28 Wolverine mask would be a much better choice for that figure, or really any other Wolverine mask besides the new X-Force one.

    I also don't understand why they're using that particular mask for the Iron Man in the same picture. Wouldn't the Extremis mask be a better choice?

  11. I first saw Natalie Portman in 'Beautiful Girls' (1996) she was stunning then & has blossomed into a beautiful & gifted actress ......... & she ain't going to be in any crap film ,Thor suddenly looks interesting!

    You have seen The Phantom Menace, right?
