  1. If Hawkeye and Vizh had been included it would have easily been the Avengers wave. As it stands, I still like the FF wave best because it gave us the whole team with neat accessories, despite the lack of DOOM. I like the Astonishing X-men wave but I had to buy an extra Boomer from BSG just to give Kitty the right hair.

  2. I'd be in. I know I could unload about 10 sets to people who are "offline".

Yeah, I could get rid of about 5 the same way and I'd probably buy several for myself. For fear that they'd break. Of course, going on the whole Street Fighter II "Ken is just Ryu with blond hair and a red gi" I'm really close to a custom. I just need to paint a Ryu Belt/Skirt piece red and find the right hair.

  3. I'll be honest and say I have never heard of Drop Dead Fred before. I'm curious as to why you think a film described on IMDB as "zappy" about an imaginary childhood friend would make a good set of minimates. I'm not trying to be rude, I'd sincerely like to hear your reasoning.

Rik Mayall is very funny but I don't think these would do well at all. Now a Young Ones set, on the other hand, those I'd buy. Even just a Bottom 2 pack.

  4. And, now there are reports of stress marks and breakage, just like with MP03.

    Nice. Thanks, Hasbro.

(And, before anyone starts attacking me for blaming H or something that's not their fault: this time, it is. Who else manufactured and released this? If you can give me a more responsible person, I'll blame them instead.)

Well, look at the bright side. This way, you're only screwed out of 50 bucks instead of the 100 Takara would have squeezed out of you. Seriously, though, I've been pretty lucky. Of the four MP series TFs I own, none has ever had any serious problems and I could understand being incredibly pissed if any of them had broken upon getting them out of the box. I think I'm going to leave well enough alone and skip the Walmart Starscream. I just hope that Takara eventually does a Thundercracker.

  5. I'd like to see more pilots like Racetrack, Crashdown and Hot Dog, but that would most likely get pretty boring with the same flightsuit again and again. Maybe they could do a couple in the undershirt?

Other than that, I guess I'd like them to finish off the human Cylons, including the final five. Hmm, not really sure who else I'd need. Just, you know, more Cylon variations I guess.

No love for Ellen Tigh? Dunno, I made a list of all the characters who've really mattered to the series, and beyond the ones that have shown up really the Cylons, Billy and the Pilots are the only ones that make sense. It'd be a mistake to not have Leoben or Cavill at all, and I really liked Romo Lampkin. Also, I'd like to see a Jammer with a New Caprica police variant. But that's only for completists, really.

    edited for grammatical mistakes.

  6. GIVE ME TWO-FACE OR GIVE ME DEATH. Oh and uh

The rest of the GL corp

    Hush

    Kindom Come (All of them)

Batman Movie Line (Yes, all of them)

ALL of Kingdom Come? Like EVERYONE from the three splash pages? I think that's a little overambitious. I'd totally be down for the Flash and GL/Batman/Wonder Woman in their armors, but I'm not sure it'd work on that small a scale. . .

  7. I'd like to see Barda as a 2.5". There's a reason she's BIG Barda. . .

Good idea. I'm so glad to see a guy (I'm assuming, with the name and all) with love for Big Barda. After the incredibly insulting review of the Big Barda figure bust in Wizard Magazine, which featured the tagline "This gal's been around long enough for you to know she's way hotter than her name makes her sound," I kind of lost faith in men appreciating this awesome character. The fact that the statue itself is lacking her signature armor and makes her look like a submissive coat rack is a whole other issue.

No, I am not a bearded lady, and Barda rules. The outfit she's wearing in the bust (I had to look it up to know what you were talking about-I haven't read Wizard in years.) is the one she has on in the early issues of Mr. Miracle when she's not wearing the armor, but it's missing the side panels that activate her armor. I really don't understand why every woman in comics has to do cheesecake when Zatanna and Power Girl pretty much have it covered. Part of what made the original Mr. Miracle series so great was that the interaction between Barda and Scott was based on Kirby's own marriage, and I doubt he'd be alright with Roz's counterpart being treated like that. She'd be better off without the cape and with her Mega Rod.

Also, the whole "Death of the New Gods" thing bugs me. If it doesn't end with Orion and Darkseid going at it in Armaghetto, I won't dig it at all.

  8. Those earrings on Uhura -- what was DST thinking? Sure she wore big spanglies on the show, but that green is far too distracting. And sadly, Uhura's red plastic is much darker than Scotty's red paint. I'm with Frowny -- Uhura must have her earpiece. All that said, I do like her quite a bit. She and psycho Sulu are my favorites of the set.

And yes, Spock comes with ecxactly the same salute hand he hand in Series 1.

For those wondering: like so many other MiniMate sluts, Uhura has gone commando. (As has the Gorn, but that's best not dwelt upon.)

Alright, let's be fair-a la Star Trek 6, Gorn's genitals might not be located where we leave ours. I mean, he's got colanders for eyes. . . who knows what's going on?

  9. This is strongly influenced by what I'd like to come out, but here goes:

    Two-face/Black Canary

    Big Barda/Mister Miracle

    Martian Manhunter/Zatanna

That way we get more of JLA and what with the new Batman movie and the Death of the New Gods storyline, some current characters.

    I'd like to see Barda as a 2.5". There's a reason she's BIG Barda. . .

  10. why as Spock got a smushed up spare hand, is it supposed to be a live long an prosper hand sign?

Yeah, probably the same one that came with the first wave Spock. It's not like they'll be able to re-use it unless they make a Sarek.

And I kinda wish they'd given Uhura her earpiece. Though it probably would have been a logistical nightmare she doesn't look right without it.

  11. Sorry, but aren't some of these 100% Quick Customs from the other waves, such as Apollo and the Variant? Or am I missing some minor details that makes them worthy of a new figure?

The variant has a different coloured neck above the T-Shirt, the previous one was brown this one is pink ( Waits to get smacked for not using the appropriate ethnic terms). It's a small difference but enough to make it a purchase for completist's. However with a tiny spot of pink paint people that aren't so anal can have a fig that's effectively the variant!

See above for my views on Apollo!

    T.

Also, Dualla had lines that indicated boobs. I don't think they gave Tyrol moobs.

  12. Pretty good over all.

The pictures some of the characters come with probably would have looked better if they had made Minimate drawings of the people instead, but that's a minor gripe.

I'm just glad these are still coming. . . at this rate we'll get a dead Billy variant before the fourth season starts.

Stupid writers' strike. (For the record I totally understand and support where they're coming from.)

  13. Welcome indeed Mr (or Miss, Mrs, or even Ms) McBeard. Please do avail yourself of our wondrous want&have lists which is to be found nestling within the flea market section of this 'ere interweb board. Hopefully you'll be able to score yourself a fair percentage of those final 13 marvel minimates. :)

What if it's all four at once?

Thanks, I appreciate it, but I'm dragging my feet about several of them. Like Riot Spider-Man, or Ultimate GG, characters I just don't care about. . . Thankfully the only chases I'm missing are Riot Sentry and Ultimate Cyclops no visor. I would not like to have to search for Symbiote Spider-Man again. I had Riot Spider-Man but I took his one arm to make SupaidÄman.

Really, part of it is that I wanted to pick the brains of some people who've done custom mates. For example, I ordered two of the Defenders set off AFX because I'm fairly sure with (non C3) Robin it'd be possible to remake him as he first appeared, but I'm not sure if the wings on his feet are attached to the foot or if they're a separate piece like Nightcrawler's tail. If they're attached, I'd need some advice from someone with experience before I tried to paint them, being I've done almost none since I was a teenager.

At any rate, thanks for the hospitality.

  14. I created this account in late March and proceeded to totally forget doing it. I work at a computer store in the cold heart of Buffalo, NY, though I was born in (and frequently return to) Canada. Anyway, I've been collecting Minimates for a little over a year now, and it started with the sadly defunct Street Fighter line. I'm currently closing in on 200 or so. I'm missing about 13 (not counting Gold and Silver Spidey, which I have no interest in) to have the full Marvel lineup and am only missing Tactical Batman and grinning Flash on the DC side. My other obsessions are too many to list, but right now the big ones are Ween, MF DOOM, Jack Kirby and Transformers. (Please don't bring up the movie or Michael Bay. . . aside from some Galaxy Force/Car Robots guys I'm perfectly willing to pretend that Beast Machines was the last piece of fiction produced.) My dream Minimates wave would be a Fourth World collection of Mr. Miracle/Big Barda, Orion/Darkseid, Etrigan/Jason Blood, and Metron/Highfather Azaya. Either that or Street Fighter Wave 2 finally surfacing. I totally need Blanka and Ken.
