  1. I collecct DCD and BSG with a few Marvel here and there. So that has an obvious impact on my list.

When I look at my 'mates, these are the things that stand out positively:

    1) Steel

    2) Cyborg Superman

    3) Classic Batman

    4) Red Dress Six

    5) Modern Cylon

These are the things that stand out negatively:

    1) D'anna Biers

    2) Star Sapphire

    3) Lack of DCD Martian Manhunter

    4) Lack of DCD Alan Scott

    5) Lack of DCD Beast Boy (C'mon DCD, at least finsh what you started! These are glaring holes)

    'Mate I couldn't live without:

DCD Superman. (Faster than a speeding nerf ball, more powerful than a model train, able to leap tall bookshelves in a single bound!)

  2. Cavil/Simon

    Doral/Billy

Tory/ Resistance Anders (Variant- Anders in tanktop flight suit)

Like your line-up, but judging by the 7 inch line it'll probably be Hotdog instead of Billy

I'd also like a previews 2-pack with Racetrack in it.

    :)

I guess a character that has been dead for a few seasons doesn't stand much of a chance against characters that are alive. But I still like Billy.

The Kat/Cylon two pack was a great way to put out one cylon and one colonial without putting "that same old look" in the main line. I think this would be an ideal route for future pilots (Racetrack, Hotdog, Crashdown, etc).

Judging by the Art Asylum blog entry, I think the final cylons will be coming sooner rather than later. Which to me suggests they are getting out the last of the 'important' characters to bring the main line to a close. I've got a funny feeling we will see one more wave and future releases will be mainly themed boxsets. (if it's not already at that point) Just a guess.

    Fat Apollo :P

It's a shame the dress uniform already uses the extra piece.

  3. Spoiler Alert

Well, in a recent Art Asylum blog, DSTMatt hints that he is only lacking the still-secret 12th Cylon. (http://www.artasylum.com/blog/2008/09/looks-like-the-cats-out-of-the-bag/)

So, I think Cavil, Doral, Simon, Tory, and Anders are all pretty likely.

    Maybe:

    Cavil/Simon

    Doral/Billy

Tory/ Resistance Anders (Variant- Anders in tanktop flight suit)

Assuming there will be only one more wave. Otherwise, I would spread these characters over two waves.

  4. Coco does indeed deserve a 'mate. And the Crazy Doggz definitely do too. (I think the other guy is Todd Berry or something like that.) And Sally would be nice too. There are really so many good moments and characters in the show, it's tough to narrow it down. Bring 'em all on, I say.

And add me to the list that would love some Firefly minimates.

  5. My three choices have all been named-- Lost, Arrested Development, MST3K.

How about... Curb Your Enthusiasm? No, wait, Flight of the Concords. That would be cool.

Flight of the Conchords would be rad!

    Four Pack:

    Bret with Guitar

    Jemaine with Bass

    Murray with checklist

Dave with Paint Ball Gun or Mel with... something humorously creepy

other accessories: boom-box, stationary bike, musical card, box of sawdust

    Exclusive 2-Pack:

    Bret with eye patch

    Jemaine as David Bowie

  6. the biggest heart ache is that this line was so close to covering every thing that I love about DC.... <sigh>

One thing that was really great about the line was how inclusive it was with a good mix of Modern Age, Silver Age, Golden Age, and just plain obscure. Unfortunately, that also means there is SO much left to be done just to finish what was started. Even though I'm not a big JSA fan, one of the biggest sore thumbs in the line is the lack of ALan Scott Green Lantern. Like the JLA, the JSA has their big three. Another thing I really want now is a classic Superman with a paler blue costume, slightly larger S shield, and cheesey smile. That would go nicely with the classic Bats. And you can't have classic Supes without classic Lex in that superfriends outfit. And Lois and Jimmy Olsen. The lack of Martian Manhunter is another BIG miss.

That said, one more wave just isn't enough. How about one more year?

  7. Hmm...

    Wave 5

Tory/ Civilian Anders (Variant- undershirt flightsuit Anders)

    Civilian Lee/ Romo Lampkin

    Natalie Six/ Hybrid

    Wave 6

New Caprica Tyrol/ New Caprica Tigh (variant- eye-patch tigh in uniform)

NC Policeman Jammer/ Suicide Bomber Duck

    Cavil and Ellen Tigh

    Wave 7

Leoben/ S4 Starbuck undershirt (Variant- NC Starbuck w/ fork and knife)

    Doral/ Simon

Three- Temple of the Five/ (Either white cloaked final cylon or whoever the final cylon really is)

And finally- Vipers, Raider, CIC Playset, Flightdeck playset, Basestar Bridge playset

  8. I just spent the weekend rewatching Arrested Development, and I would LOOOOOOOOVE some minimates! Even my wife would like to see these!

    Series 1:

    Michael and GOB Bluth

George Michael Bluth and Maybe Funke (Variant: Banana Stand George Michael!)

    Buster and Lucielle Bluth

    Lindsay and Tobias Funke

:) I loved this show, but thanks to you I now have that annoying themetune running round my head.

I think the Variant should be BlueMan group Tobias though :)

    "[Tobias has painted himself blue]

    Tobias Funke: I blue myself.

Michael Bluth: There has got to be a better way to say that. "

    T.

That's going to be in Wave 2 ;)

    And I like that song!

Ha! Great idea. GOB so needs his scooter. And a dead pigeon. And Franklin. Really, I wouldn't mind if GOB were packed alone with crap loads of accesories so as to recreate some minimate magic. I'm sorry, illusions.

Of course, we would also need Barry Zuckerkorn, Steve Holt, Bob Loblaw, Ann, Annyong, Kitty, Carl Weathers, Larry Mittleman, Rita Leeds, Maggie Lizer... my god, I need these. I need these now. First 3 series of my dream line:

    Series 1

    Michael and GOB

    Buster and Lucille Austero

Lindasy and Tobias/ Blue Man Tobias variant

Exclusive: Tony Wonder with giant bread

    Series 2

Lucille and George Bluth/ Oscar variant

    Barry Zukerkorn and Bob Loblaw

    Maeby and Steve Holt

Exclusive: Lupe with rack of fur coats

    Series 3

Ann and George Michael/ banana stand variant

    Carl Weathers and Mrs. Featherbottom

Wayne Jarvis and Wife of GOB

    Exclusive: Mr Bananagrabber with scooter

  9. I've just got to wonder if this is a booth guide essentially saying, "What you see is what you get. If you don't see it, you won't get it," or if the guide had real info provided by DCD. I hope DCD is scaling back to the original production scale and the guide was simply uninformed.

I wish that were the case, but he was definitely answering a question that he'd been briefed on how to answer. He was quite adamant that those two waves were officially the end of the line.

It feels like you're trying to crush my spirit. ;)

    To DCD:

So long, farewell, au revoir, auf wiedersehen

I wish I had more DC Minimates

you do us a disservice re-releasing new versions of these characters when there are so many other characters we would love to have

I don't know about that. Many collectors didn't get all of the C3 line which was in a different art style anyway. The debate about this on these boards I think justifies DCD's decision to produce characters even if they were already produced by another company. And members here speak of the obscure characters contributing to the 'meh' factor. So the simple solution is to cater to both sets- which DCD did. For whatever reason something went wrong.

  10. Hey, we've seen a lot of questions come in about the sad news from the DC Unlimited showroom, so I thought I should give you folks a first-hand report of what went down.

I'm a crazed Minimates collector myself, so I was pretty confused when no new DC 'mates were on display at the showroom. I wanted to know exactly what was up, so I asked our guide, and he said pretty much exactly what we put up on the Toy Fair report page - that's it for the line, at least for the forseeable future.

He mentioned a couple of times that if enough of a commotion went up online, things might change, but I couldn't honestly tell you whether that was a genuine company policy statement or just a PR thing to appease us and/or the fans.

(In other, non-DC-related news, boy, you guys found that Civil War boxset news fast! Now I just have to hope I can wrangle one myself when the orders go up...)

I've just got to wonder if this is a booth guide essentially saying, "What you see is what you get. If you don't see it, you won't get it," or if the guide had real info provided by DCD. I hope DCD is scaling back to the original production scale and the guide was simply uninformed.

And I am pretty surprused by the 'meh' responses too. I am especially surprised that so many people have found the character selection so obscure. I think the character selection has been great. But that's just me.

  11. "DCD Minimates are doing well. In fact, sales are going up. Wave nine is being worked on now."

That was back in late July.

It would explain Iron Cow's cheeky comment. He knows what he's worked on and what hasn't been released. He may be expecting one last hurrah based on those outstanding designs.

see I was remembering that quote too....I guess I have to take the same stance here as I did with the Marvel rumors and wait it out and hope for the best...there is a pile of potential here and I really cant see them letting it go

    Jeff of the Miniacs

Yeah, now that I've had a chance to read the article and check around for similar news reports, I think this might be a whole lot of speculation. The linked article is pretty vague as to minimates (no quotes, etc) and no other site is reporting this. It would be really silly for DCD to just drop this.
