  1. Noooooooooooooooooooooo!

It's Tuesday and this week has so far been pretty shitty. The "news" this morning had me pumped. Why, oh why, must DST continue to trifle? How does an old listing just pop up in new solicits?

You know who I feel like? Fox Mulder

"I'm the key figure in an ongoing toy charade, the plot to conceal the truth about the existence of the final BSG minimate waves. It's a global conspiracy, actually, with key players in the highest levels of power, that reaches down into the lives of every man, woman, and child on this planet, so, of course, no one believes me. I'm an annoyance to my superiors, a joke to my peers. They call me Spooky. Spooky Turtle, whose sister used to burry his toys when he was just a kid and who now chases after little plastic men, shouting to the heavens or to anyone who will listen that the fix is in, that the sky is falling and when it hits it's gonna be the shit-storm of all time."

  2. I finally got around to picking up DC Wave 8. They are great except for Sinestro. Boo! One of his legs is missing the blue paint at the top and has some serious scratches in the blue on his boot. So I was wondering if anyone knew of a good color match for that blue. I would like to fix him up, but not being a regular customizer, I don't know what paints, etc, are good to use for color matching and getting an even coat.

    Thanks for any help.

  3. I always thought Az-bats was pretty stupid looking (then, now, tomorrow), but you're right. It was the "in" thing. There's a huge difference between product of the time and just plain bad. Superboy wasn't the best design and was certainly a product of the times, but it doesn't really offend me all that much. But this doesn't mean every redesign can't be "classic cool." I dig the modern Cap design. For now, anyway.

  4. I have nothing against the Minimate version of Bucky Cap. In addition to BHM's arguments about the comic, I believe that if DST did nothing but release the same "classic" Marvel heroes over and over again without injecting some weirdo variety in the mix (i.e. no Bucky Cap Minimate, just redo upon redo of Steve Rogers Cap) then obviously Minimates wouldn't be the same fun, surprising, occasionally wall-banging line we all know and love today. :P Plus, now I can take comfort in the fact that if DST can release Bucky Cap, then they can release *other* weirdo characters too. ;)

I haven't read any of the new Cap stuff, so I don't know how Bucky stacks up as Cap (I don't think I like the idea of 616 Cap carrying a gun). But the design is pretty cool (making it hugely different than Az-bats), and the Captain Bucky 'mate looks badass. It is one of my most anticipated 'mates of the year. I need to get around to reading this stuff, but from what I have heard, it has been handled very well.

Back on topic, these look to me like they are all just Heroes/Villains repacks.

  5. Everybody got the shaft in X3. That was one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

Don't think of X3 as terrible movie, think of it as a fight scene that ran too long. Although 100 minutes for a fight scene with some bits of plot and fan-service strung throughout is pretty weak, I guess. :ermm:

I'm hoping that Wolverine's origin movie is the third X-Men movie that I've been waiting for since 2003. The Last Stand didn't cut it.

That's totally how I would have thought of it, except the few plot points and nods that were tossed in were all... terrible for the most part. I hope Wolverine is better, but I am not holding my breath.

Okay, I LOVED X3. Say what you will, but it was the perfect comic book movie. It was like reading an issue. Non-stop action, plot lines that go nowhere, characters dying for no reason, the entire movie being retconed at the end. I was totally able to sit back and go for a ride on that one.

Though if they ever follow up, I always wanted Scott to not be "dead" but rather be "cured" and have amnesia, and being taken care of by Emma Frost, who thinks he is her pet. :)

I'm hoping if they ever follow up, it starts with Scott or Prof. X waking up from a bad dream and realizing that it was a message from Jean warning them of the terrible things that could happen if Brett Ratner ever directs an X-flick again.

I guess we define "perfect comic book movie" differently, but I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  6. Everybody got the shaft in X3. That was one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

Cyclops is one of my favorite X-men. He is a champ. I really liked Joss Whedon's portrayal of not just Scott, but everyone else on that astonishing team. It very much took me back to the old days, back before Jim Lee and the 90's, back when the X-Men was a good comic to read, not just to stare at.

Back to Wolverine... X3 is the reason I have very low expectations for this flick. These 'mates look cool, though.

  7. At least DST took the time to answer this question:

Jeff Hollick: I just want to compliment DST / Art Asylum on the latest Minimates offerings! The character selection, attention to detail and value for money are among the best in the toy business. Thanks for the great product and keep it coming!

DSTChuck: Cool… thanks for collecting these little guys. More cool stuff planed, hope you like them.

...Not that I disagree with the sentiment. I am interested to hear what else is "plan[n]ed."

  8. After reading the latest Art Asylum blog, my hopes of seeing these last 18 minimates have once again been dashed. I just wonder what they were thinking before Toy Fare when they said we would see something there... :(

Since they are the bad kind of cylon, I am pretty sure they were thinking of ways to dash our hopes and destroy our human way of life via nuclear holocaust. Fortunately for us, the minimate nukes weren't very effective. But the hope dashing seems to have worked pretty well.

  9. 1403. I found the arguments for Kubricks and Mighty Muggs just too well reasoned. And I'm tired of being stupid. So this morning I buried all of my minimates in the garden. I'm hoping that in 4-6 weeks I will have some minimate plants because I am sure they would make for great pest repellant, what with them being so terribly unbearable and all. And if I ever need anything to throw at the neighborhood kids, I can just pluck a fresh and horrifying 'mate to chuck at them.

Hah, I thought you were serious for a second. ROFL.

Yeah, I was joking. I throw bricks at the pesky youths. Minimates wouldn't really do much.

  11. I kind of hope we never find out since it'd be so fucking disappointing to know what we aren't getting because of poor choices to discontinue the line (my opinion).

Word. I don't want to know who the next sixteen would have been until they are telling us who the next sixteen will be.

  12. I'm still hoping that the lack of news has something to do with the show itself and what the final outcome will be.

I agree. We still need to see #7

I don't know if there is really any need for us to see a model that has been dead for forty years. I'm guessing Daniel won't be making any physical appearances.

I'm pretty disappointed in the way DST has strung us along with these. I will be VERY disappointed if an exclusive deal hasn't been worked out.
