  1. Went with the LG 55LE5500 LED and boy am I glad I got that size. Right now it is set up on the bar on the pedestal and it just dominates that wall Picked it, the Samsung BD-D5700, Onkyo HT-S5300 for around $2112 and they threw in 3 HDMI cables and a wireless adapter for the tv. Anyway, appreciate everyone's feedback and I'll post some pics once I have everything hooked up. One happy camper so far
  2. Does anyone have these LG's or have any thoughts on them, LG 60PK540, 60PK550 or 55LX6500? This is an alternative I'm looking at for the Sharp we're considering.
  3. Not looking to start a LCD/LED vs Plasma pissing contest fellas. I'm looking for some suggestions to help me in my purchase needs I went and checked out both of the fp's today and have to say both of them are equally matched in every way except price. This is where the Samsung kind of comes out ahead of the pack and affords me a little extra to get a nice receiver, surround sound and built in wi-fi BD player Going to call the salesman tomorrow and check on the availability of it and whether I can get a decent package deal. Anyway, appreciate the positive feedback. Definitely some things to consider
  4. Hey YB, that Sharp is definitely meets the criteria you mentioned, but why are you saying Panasonic for the plasma? Most retailers locally aren't selling those without the 3D being inclusive on the set and that isn't our thing This is something we wouldn't use. When my wife took a look at some of the demos she said she was starting to get a headache. Between that and the price, Samsung seemed to be a great choice in the plasma department. Also, what can you tell me about the 24fps? Is that something I need or is it a waste for the extra $100? Just need a little feedback before I go check these out one last time at Video Only and Best Buy. Wish I wasn't so reluctant about buying things online, I don't really like giving BB that much of my hard earned money Not sure how big his living room is, but here's a pic of mine BHM. Should more than accommodate our living room. Of course once I'm done with this I'll have decide on what bd(wifi installed, not ready) and sound system to get, a HTIB or seperate components? Night shots: Day shots:
  5. Just finished up Dead Space, really great game. Highly recommend it and can't wait to pick up the sequel. Speaking of which, I actually ended up with a extra copy. If anyone is interested, send me a pm
  6. We're currently looking at a new flat panel for the living room, but can't decide between a lcd or plasma?!?!?!? Right now we're looking at a 60" Sharp LC60E88UN lcd or a Samsung PN58C550(or C590 w/24fps). While I know that plasma's have come a long way I worry about burn in, reflective lighting, etc. So has anyone else been in this predicament that can help me out? Have a few days before the tax man delivers and could really use some help.
  7. Cool that this show is making the rounds again BHM. They are showing it on the Hub here in the states. Unfortunately my dvr screwed up and stopped recording them in order. Really wish we'd see this remastered and put out on dvd/bd. I just wrapped up Spartacus: Blood and Sand and that is a really well made show. Watching this made me really start looking forward to when Torchwood comes to Starz. I just hope that like Spartacus, it pops up on Netflix too. Other than that, just watching comedies at this point. Not a lot of time to invest in the hour shows at the moment. I'm thinking I'll catch up with everything once it his Netflix.
  8. Ya gotta love it don't you Karamazov, he always seems to get us with that one I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything Luke, otherwise my monitor would be covered with water right now. I don't know what it is, but I just can't quit a game or play another one at the same time. I've gotten a bit better on playing multi-player lately, but it was mainly in Reach. I've tried some of the others, but get too irritated by the kids sniping me. Like most of our dad's here, I have very little time. I end up playing once everyone has gone to sleep or when my son is napping.
  9. I honestly can't remember if we've discussed this, but my gaming habits got me to thinking about this. How do you play a game? Do you play it start to finish, just the campaign or vice versa and only play the multi-player or play a bunch of games at the same time? I'm kind of a start to finish kind of guy for some reason
  10. Sounds good guys. I'm not sure when that will be though, but I'll shoot you a pm when I start playing it
  11. Well I'm finally past the part where everything thing went Don't ask me how, but I defeated the baddie without any ammo. Kind of like the first time I defeated General Raam it just happened. Once I'm done with this I'll start playing Mass Effect 2. Glad to hear you like BC 2 Neo, I know some of the guys here liked it better than MW. So I'm looking forward to seeing it for myself. Of course I'll play the first one before tackling that one. I definitely have a stack of games to get through. Unfortunately time isn't on my side most of the time.
  12. Well, turns out that flash drive failure was to my benefit. Apparently the prices dropped on the 4GB FD's since I had bought mine, so I was able to upgrade to a 8GB for only a couple of bucks more I've already transferred my profile and went back to starting Dead Space again. Didn't want to take a chance and have it go out with me again. Got through the 1st chapter before I decided to go to bed. Of course my son decided to get up about that time and I didn't get to sleep for another hour
  13. Yeah, I'm thinking I need to take it back. It happened again, so I'm going to see if this one takes before I head back to Best Buy for a replacement. Luckily I still have the receipt. Anyway, not your problem. I was just busting your stones
  14. I'm starting up with Dead Space again thanks to a power glitch wiping out my flash card You didn't warn me about that Neo. Luckily I was only on chapter 5 and not at the end of the game. Another bright note, I still have my accomplishments and I know what I'm doing this time
  15. OK, gotta ask. How old are you again BHM? I've met you once, although briefly at SDCC with TBT and I didn't think you could be close to my age Of course you Brits do drink, so it might be preserving you somehow. I think I appreciate Kidder more as an adult than when I was a kid watching the movie. In all honesty I don't think anyone has really captured the spirit of Lois(sadly). It isn't just about her being pretty, that isn't what that character is all about. Nor is it being the constant damsel in distress. Clark ended up marrying her in the comics because she was his equal. Hopefully the person they pick will embody that. I have high hopes, since Synder did a great job of conveying this in 300.
  16. No worries BHM. I had to actually look for the fine print myself That and she is just uninsurable as an actress, just too many factors when it comes to her. On a side note, it is sad what her life has become. I really liked her in Mean Girls and I do think she is talented. I just wish she could get her life straight, but I think that's just my paternal instinct kicking in.
  17. I think you need to look at the date at the top, in 1996 she was 47 or 48, depending on what month the interview was BHM I met her a few years ago at Emerald City Comicon and she was pretty nice lady. It is kind of sad to think her or anyone else suffers from this condition I'm kind of hoping they go with a relative unknown in the part. Much like they've done with Superman. He's known, but not a household name right now.
  18. Thanks for reminding me and removing it. Even though I basically set it up in my profile to cloak everyone's signature, not just yours Webhead. I wish all forums gave us that option, since some folks signatures can get a little out of hand and overwhelm what someone has to say. Anyway, RIP Elisha, hope you got your wings
  19. Just started playing Dead Space and I think it has taken Quake 4's place on the errie department. I swear I think I peed a little Something else I've noticed, I can't play many games on the old 27". I tried playing this and Bad Company and couldn't read anything. Looks like I'm going to have to see about getting another flatscreen for the living room
  20. What system was this on and why didn't you just take the game back to the store? I've done that from time to time when the games act up. Hell, I had to do that a few times with my Resident Evil Elite game. I took the system back until I read that it was the game, not the console that created the issue. Still, sorry to hear about you wiping your system and it not fixing your problem.
  21. I liked his(Liefield) artwork, but I think his attitude in the past still haunts him a bit still Shane. I think people forget he was just a kid, who got damn lucky and let his fame go to his head. He drawn a pretty good crowd up here and at SDCC. Still, I think it is like anyone who is constantly on a con circuit. You aren't going to draw the crowds every time. Glad to see you are passing on the torch to your son Shane
  22. I don't have that one yet, but I plan on getting it the next time someone has a sale or promotion
  23. Man, what do I play first, Dead Space or ME2? Wife and son have gone grocery shopping and looking to play something that won't suck me in immediately. Since I mainly play those at night to make sure Lex doesn't get desensitized to violence or make sure it is safe to play in front of him. Maybe I'll play one of the Bad Company games while they are gone. Those seem to be pretty cut and dry I'd think.
  24. Most likely because we're not on at the same time or you don't send me a request. I mainly play Rumble, Teams or Noble Six multi. Oh, and don't call me Donnie Although I agree with you on Mass Effect. Buddy of mine played it and said it was just too chatty. He seemed to like the 2nd one better. Which I almost started this evening. Unfortunately with the family sleeping I didn't want to start playing something that requires me to hear what is going on in the story.
  25. I guess I'm in the minority. I liked the multiplayer on Black OPS myself. I found it a bit easier to navigate through and actually kill someone and not be constantly sniped out of the blue. I think once I've caught up with my games I'll go back and check out these multiplayers on the big screen. There has to be a reason why Shane is still playing it and I want to learn the secret
