  1. BBTS now has 23 up for pre-order, $24 for a set of 8 (variant included).

It's cool to see that the availability/pricing of the variant packs that started with series 19 & 20 is continuing.

AFX were doing this since Wave 16 .

Really?...hmm didn't realize that, I was looking mainly at CSC and BBTS who would have a variant set available but the cost would be $35-ish.

When CSC dropped their variant set prices to $20 for 19 & 20 I assumed it was because DST was adding more variant packs per case, if that is the reason for the price drop then I want to give DST a hearty thanks!

  3. Wow,cool Starro pics!

    Does Starro have bendable arms?

They’re flexible in that you can pull the twists in the tentacles apart (to wrap around a figure’s leg say) but will then go back to their original shape. The arms can’t really be bent into new shapes but the way the tentacles were molded do offer quite a bit of display options.

  4. Did Sinestro and Saalak come with lanterns? What accessories come with the Red Son figures?

RS WW comes with her lasso, but that's it.

Rats, there were quite a few nifty accessory possibilities in that TPB...Bottle City of Kandor, smashed Brainiac head...I hoped for at least a Minimate sized Soviet flag.

Cool news about the lanterns though!

  5. Modern Question may grow on me especially if it comes with a removable mask and hair piece to become a normal Renee Montoya.

Montoya has a regular head which is just turned around; no "mask". So you can display her with face or without. Hair piece and hat are one piece.

That's a bit of a bummer, I was hoping that they would at least include some fold/ anatomy lines to give the appearance of a mask. Using the blank back of a head is a bit lazy of DCD. It is really nice that it comes with a Renee face though.

  6. who els is pumped? :highfive2:

I’ve been looking forward to getting a Sinestro ever since we got Hal in the first series. I like getting GLs in this line and Saalak looks to be the coolest one yet. Cyborg and Raven are my two favorite Titans so I’m stoked to get them. More Bat characters are always welcome so the new Batwoman will add nicely to the display. Modern Question may grow on me especially if it comes with a removable mask and hair piece to become a normal Renee Montoya. Superman & Wonder Woman will be interesting display pieces at least (though I’m going to have to give them angrier faces) and I hoping that this pack comes with a Brainiac head.

Most of all I’m looking forward to seeing what surprise accessories come with these packs and to Mini Myte’s photos once he gets these in hand.

  7. Great job on the Starro pics! Where's the Starro from?

He's a Heroclix "Colossal Character". It's strange the small Herocilx are really small and kind of crudely sculpted and painted IMO but the big figures are really nice in quality and scale.

I think I'm going to have to find me a starro, great pix hypno

*EDIT* or not, those things go for silly money on ebay

Aye he be a bit pricey. I got this one for $60 shipped on ebay, the cheapest I've seen him go is 50-ish shipped (I think he retails for $75).

He is pretty durable though, a mix of rubber (for the arms) and plastic (for the body), I was going to wait to see if a Starro was going to be made in the Mattel DCUC line but I thought that might be a bit of a long shot and this one fits in really well with Minimates.

Winkerbean posted some photos of Starro as well in the Display pieces for Minimates thread

  8. If only they would replace the Hulk with a villain like the Enchantress or Baron Zemo....

Yep I could really do without that Hulk, (he just looks odd) the rest of the set looks great though.

  9. My favorite Kubricks of all!

Mine too, great figures with a lot of detail. My jaw dropped the first time I saw the Chapter 3 figures, they were some of the coolest things I had seen. I have BSG mates working as Ma K ground crew on one of my shelves.

  10. (This also shows how terrible it was that OMAC came with Batman rather then one of his rogues. Sorry, but it's a sore subject.) ;)

But me likey the OMAC :( I've got 7 of them hovering around on my DC shelf terrorizing Robin, being smacked around by Superman...

My only regret is that OMAC didn't come paired with another army builder like a Manhunter robot. 7 Batmen in the fodder bin doesn't do me much good but 7 Manhunter bots, Parademons or Checkmate agents...those I could certainly use.

  11. I stopped at a couple of FYEs yesterday. The first store only had BSG mates marked down but was able to get a variant Baltar & Gina pack (DC mates, and the 24 exclusive pack were full price with no Marvel-mates to be seen). This store also had oldish DCD 6in figures marked down from $8 to $10.

The second store I stopped at had nothing marked down. :(

  12. I was looking through some of my old comics and came across this DC Nation letter from Dan DiDio on what fans did to change his mind…

Okay, okay, you win. I got the letters. I got the e-mails. I even got the feedback from retailers. You asked for it, hell you demanded it, so consider Manhunter uncancelled.

When the word got out that we had cancelled this series, the e-mails started. Not long after that, the letters arrived. And they all carried a single message: “Save Manhunter.” At first I thought it was the series’ writer, Marc Andrekyo, was being clever. But the handwriting didn’t match, and even he couldn’t own this many e-mail addresses. Nope, something was happening: a grassroots campaign by a group of fans out to save one of their favorite books. Now, I have cancelled series before, cancelled plenty of them, but this was by far the biggest and strongest response to a cancellation I’ve ever seen. It stopped me dead in my tracks and made me think we might have been a little hasty pulling the plug.

So to all of you that sent letters-and the scores of others that keep writing in through our website and the regular mail-you asked for it and we listened!

From the quote it appears that DiDio hasn't uncancelled many if any series before, but the fan support was so strong that he had to take notice. Through e-mails, contacting retailers, and sending letters I have no doubt that we can have the same effect on Brewer.
