  1. What an odd bunch of choices for this wave.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm really excited about it.

Cyborg, Sinestro, and the Red Son Supes and WW look especially great.

I'm on the fence with the Salak. It's really neat that they've made a figure of him, but it does begin to straddle that line of when is a minimate no longer a minimate.

    Anyway, can't wait.

  2. Clayface & Grodd rock but I worry about getting too far from 'the minimate' style.

    My thoughts exactly.

I think I'd add that Lobo to that list as well. It just seems like there's too much going on with the big jacket and the hair and the boots. I'm all for accuracy and accessories, but the simpleness of Minimates (IMO) is part of the appeal.

But then again, you didn't hear me complaining about all of the stuff on Thor, so I guess I'm a hypocrite.

Maybe the Marvel stuff is just photographed better.

That Flash looks great. Definitely my favorite from this wave.

  3. Were the colors on anyone else's Target 2-Pack Riot Attack Spider-Man a lot darker than normal?

I looked around to see if this had been mentioned anywhere else, but didn't see anything.

The one I bought today has almost yellow eyes and his costume is maroon and dark purple-ish blue.

Just curious since the packaging shows the regular red and blues.

  4. Thanks for the scans, Chris! Is it possible for you to scan the entire page in as well as adding the scans of the new Speed Racer Minimates? My LCS was out of the latest issue...

Anyone else think they reused the design of DarkTide Wolverine's mouth for Goblin?

    There you go.

The new issue isn't in comic shops until tomorrow, so you should still be able to pick it up this week.

The article is several pages long, so the Speed Racer, BSG, DC, Kellogg's, 24, BTTF, aren't in this scan.

I can try to scan the rest later if there's still a demand.

  5. I got the new ToyFare magazine (with Transformers movie toys cover story) in the mail yesterday, and it has a huge article on 2007 being the year of the Minimates.

This article included a calendar of scheduled release times for all the upcoming series as well as pictures of 'Mates that hadn't been announced/shown yet.

The next Target exclusive wave will be Spider-Man centered and out in the Spring (to coincide with the movie of course).

The line-up for this wave is :

    "Torment" Spider-Man & Powerhouse Venom

Melee Symbiote Spider-Man & Powerhouse Sandman

"Civil War" Spider-Man & Transformation Venom

Web Armor Spider-Man & Green Goblin (w/ removable mask)

I'll try to get some scans up as soon as possible, if no one beats me to it. :)

  6. Yeah, seeing as the Iceman/Wolverine 2-packs were two "waves" back, finding them on shelves will be all but impossible now. Take comfort in their continued availability on the internet, and I'm sure if you toss a post in the Flea Market forum, someone may be able to secure the sought after mate you desire.

As far as the new stock, is anyone else finding themselves compelled to grab Ghost Rider/Daredevil every time they see them? I'm starting to feel like Mel Gibson's character in Conspiracy Theory (back before we found out Mel was really as crazy as the characters he plays), with the GR/DD acting as my Catcher in the Rye.

I can't believe this! I was going to post a reply saying pretty much this exact same thing!

Glad I'm not the only one. I've already bought that set 3 times, and all the others twice.

  7. My most wanted Marvel character is Mister Sensitive (aka Guy Smith) from X-Force/X-Statix. Since they'd probably go with the X-Statix version, his X-Force costume (complete with removeable helmet of course) could be the variant.

I guess it goes without saying that an X-Force/X-Statix set would be my dream wave.

    Mister Sensitive/U-Go Girl

    The Anarchist/Dead Girl

    Phat/Vivisector

    Venus Dee Milo/Spike Freeman

Since that scenario will probably never happen, I'll pitch in and say that Hawkeye, Vision, Namor, and Black Panther are probably bound to be up sooner than later.

I'd also love to see Ant-Man, Wasp, Dr. Strange, Red Skull, Kang, Deadpool, Longshot, Gambit, and both versions of Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell and Genis from Peter David's run on the character).

Anyone think we'll ever see a Rick Jones?

  8. I think I have to jump on the "possibly best wave ever" bandwagon.

I'm really impressed with how well the AA crew was able to translate all of these new additions into Minimate form.

Seeing these and knowing that some of those big characters like Hawkeye and Vision weren't in this wave just makes me more excited about when they do eventually make it to us. I thin it stands to reason that AA and DST don't want to make all of the most wanted figures in one wave or there might not be anyone left to anchor future waves.

Plus, you know there has to be someone out there who has been waiting patiently this whole time for a Wonderman.

Can't wait to add these to my collection.

  9. That would be cool, especially the movie style batman (batmen?).

But don't you think they would more likely to be a superman returns set rather than just an variant.

In all likelihood it would fallout like this:

Superman Returns: Superman/Lex Luthor, Lois Lane/Clark Kent (likeness based off Returns)

Superman: Superman/Lex Luthor (likeness based of the original movie)

    Superman II: Superman/Zodd, Ursa/Non

Variant: Superman/Lex Luthor (with no hair!)

I'd pay $100 for the Superman set you just described in a heartbeat.
