  1. Is this is the non-chase Ice-man? I know it got a little confusing with this chase as they marked them wrong, or didn't mark them or something...

I have the Ice-man wave, but haven't opened them yet (they're in a bag in the UK awaiting my long-term return) but I didn't get the chase, so... will this pack help me?

  2. Marvel is boxed because Marvel demanded it.

I'd imagine they'll be blistered where possible as its much better

Really? Do you know why Marvel demanded it? It seems an odd choice. Although I like the boxes a lot, it's good to be able to see the figures, particularly on a wave where the paint-job is less than superb...

Also, these blind boxes are not sealed that well, just a little piece of tape. One piece of tape even came off when I was peeling the invetory sticker off.

Was that box in the middle rotated when you opened the box? If so, is it the chase figure? Just a hunch...

Also, you're right about the tape, although the Toys R Us here have sealed them more here. They do it with all blind-packed toys here to stop people peeking!

  4. I'll try Forbidden Planet and Travelling Man and see what they've got. Meeting up is a nice idea. You're in York, right? I'll be based in Nottingham mostly while I'm back, but my girlfriend went to York St. Johns Uni, so a visit there might not be entirely out of the question. I'll let you know more once my plans have been solidified.

  5. You review whore! My favourite Microman to look at is the Godzilla one. It's a normal Microman that comes with a rubber suit to make a truly authentic Godzilla.

Anyway, I went to a different Toys R Us Yesterday. At first I couldn't find the SFII 'mates, but then I spotted them trying to hide. Here's some photos...

Buses, police cars, mini-busts, sports cars, booby mythical creatures, where are they?!? Ah, between the Hot Rod cars and the booby mythical creatures - where else?

Is that all there is? The other Toys R Us had hundreds. Could this store have nearly sold out already? Or have they only put a few out because of limited shelf-space? Or did they only order a case or two because they weren't sure they'd sell? Your guess is as good as mine.

Wait! Where did they go! They were here a minute ago!

    StreetFighterIIJapaneseMinimates10.jpg

Bless! They've jumped into my basket. 14 happy Minimates ready to fly around the world and share the joy!

I'll PM those who asked for some in the next couple of days with further details.

  6. I'm afraid they're gone Mr E! :(

Well, they are in my area anyway.

I managed to snag a few for Fujis but shipping turned out to be extremely expensive as although they're not at all heavy they're very very bulky. I was going to send six to Fujis but shipping worked out to around £40.00. A tad excessive I'm sure you'll agree.

Hooray for British postage! No probs, there's loads of cool display cases I can use here that are cheap, just not quite as cheap as 50p!

  7. Those are neat I ordered one to see what they look like in person. Say Mr. Excitable are micromen any good? I've been thinking of getting a batman one or one of the superman ones coming out. Too bad the Spiderman one didn't pan out.

At the risk of steering this off course, Micromen are pretty cool to look at in pictures and really poseable too, but I've never bought one. When I come to look at them in the shops the joints are always too visible, and there's usually something I'd rather spend money on. On the generic Micromen Takara are far too fond of using vac metalized parts, which just make them look cheap to me. If you want to know more PM so we don't steer this topic off course.

  8. Hmm.... wonder if Marvel/DC Kubricks would prevent Marvel/DC mate blind packing for the Japanese market...

It would depend on the specific contract that Marvel and Medicom have. I would imagine not, as there's some blind packed Marvel stuff available here already. However, I think any Marvel mini-figure itch that the Japanese public has, may have already been scratched by the Kubricks. I imagine that if anyone thought Marvel Minimates would sell here, they would have already released them.

As for DC, the awareness of DC characters is far lower than Marvel's so Batman and Superman would probably be the only characters they might be interested in. If Art Asylum released a Batman Begins or Superman Returns wave, Japan would probably be interested, but probably not otherwise. Generally super-hero stuff doesn't go well over here. The Batman waves of Microman have been peg-warming since I arrived last July.

  9. 16.73 GBP for 6 shipped from LiK Sang

Thats cheaper than I pay for 3 two packs in this country.

How the frack are they that cheap?!?

Generally it's because we Brits get shafted on anything imported. At 500 yen (approx. $5 US) these probably seem expensive to Americans. At 500 yen (approx. £2.50) these are pretty cheap to us. Plus, Asian postage costs are generally pretty low.

Of course, you'd have to buy a lot of these to get the whole set!

  10. Glad you're excited! I was really surprised and happy to see them. As for other minimates being released here... I wouldn't hold your breath. Super-hero stuff is a very niche market here, so it may not be worth their while to release them. Speed Racer might get a release, but it's not that popular either. BSG might be the one to watch. There are already some BSG ship models on sale in blind-boxes, so there is a market. I'm just not sure how big it is.

Lik Sang is a great retailer and they have excellent shipping too. I'm going to buy some of these for some people however, so if you want some at cost + shipping please let me know how many you want and where you live.

    So far I have:

    Danny - 6 boxes

    Fujis - 2 boxes

    Luke314pi - 2 boxes

    Any more for any more?
