  1. BTW, I also think Defenders Hulk is the best Hulk.

[Opens up his Defenders box set for only the second time since 2007, pulls out Hulk, examines it.]

You're right, that IS our best Hulk. But Series 41 is pretty great, too. So I think we've shown we can do Hulk, and I'm not sure how this set could possibly be a "disaster." Even if you guys find something wrong with every figure in the set (No pressure! I know you can!), I'm sure it will do well with the audience we're going to be putting it in front of (it'll be an exclusive). And I think our recent box sets have been some of our best work.

  2. Whilst I'm fairly keen about this set it should be noted that there have been very few minimate Hulks that anybody seems to like. That is just my observation & I personally love The Defenders version & the very latest Bulk is amazing. There isn't a single Hulk version that minimate collectors universally love & just about any version is readily available on ebay at a reasonable cohave

So we get a box set of 4 ? Odd.

Are you saying that we shouldn't make a TTA box set of a character until the collectors are satisfied with what they have? Or that we should just give up?

I think this is one of two or three logical choices for TTA sets, given what we've made. And while the TTA sets are generally aimed at a less discriminating collector, the more Hulks we make, the closer we get to making that perfect one for you guys.

And sorry some of you aren't a fan of Compound Hulk. We saw the Hasbro figure at NYCC and said, "Well, the fans want us to be more like MU..." (Kidding!)

  3. No, Thor sports a few different looks. One is the caped/armored look a la the Thor Movie and for which we already have a minimate. The new 'mate looks to be based off of this sleeveless, capeless look. I'd prefer this one over one we've already got. And I guess I'm alone, but I liked the big hair for Thor.

These posters are awesome, Zach. I'm really looking forward to this wave (and plan on getting doubles of Hawkeye and Widow to go with the Ultimates).

Thanks! And thanks for tracking down that pic -- one of the earliest images anyone saw of him in this film, and most assuredly what this look was based on. When we started work on these guys, we had no idea whether he would be dressed for "Casual Thorsday" throughout the movie, but we certainly didn't want to make the same fully armored Thor all over again. Consider this an "Ultimate" movie Thor, and go buy the old one if you prefer that look.

Did I mention these are all production pieces? I'll try and shoot some more straightforward shots.

  4. and am i the only child of the 80s on this board who would have liked a "disco" dazzler instead of that 90s version? (i would have vastly preferred a classic dazzler as the chase figure over that sloppy looking brood-wolvie, but oh well...)

How is it sloppy looking, velvet?

  5. Purple on Hawkeye is vivid and amazing, which nulls my main worry. He's perfect; that bow looks so fantastic. Great Renner likeness too!!

The purple changed a few times after the prototype pics. Even the character art on the packaging has a slightly different purple.

Question, is her head not on all the way?? If so, looks like she has a really short neck peg....which may be not-so-good.

Head was on all the way, just angled very extremely. Looked good from straight-on, so I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

  6. If these are executed well, then this should be in my top 2 or 3 waves all time. Updates, and missing characters that X-Men fans of the 80s desperately needed.

Regarding the claws, on the prototype, the claws on Brood Wolvie look great (not sure I have those on any Wolvie that I own), but the ones on traditional brown Wolvie look like the "needle" claws we've seen many times. Weird that those two figures also have different boots. I wonder if we'll get uniformity between those two figures in the final release or not.

These are the same prototypes that were at Toy Fair, but I said in the Toy Fair thread that both would ultimately have the razor claws. At least, that is the plan. I can't remember what they said about the boots, though.

  7. Sorry I haven't posted any unboxing pictures. I had this crazy idea to re-create the teaser posters, and it kinda took over my brain. I posted these two on Twitter so far:

Have actually finished all eight, but can't access them right now, or I'd give you a bonus.

    Quick breakdown:

    - Hawkeye comes with three arrows (four molded in quiver), plus extra non-sunglasses head.

    - Hulk comes with extra very angry head.

    - Thor's hair has changed from the prototype to (I believe) the old Thor movie hair.

    - Fury's trenchcoat is shiny like Michael Knight's jacket. Pistol and rocket launcher.

    - Iron Man gets a different helmet than seen in the prototype, although you may have already seen it at Toy Fair.

    - They're all amazing.

  8. Thats the starting Tekken Line-up???

How do you begin without at least Kazuya, Heihachi, or Jin? It sounds like they are trying to kill the series before it begins by picking characters like Lili and Steve Fox? I think DST screwed the pooch on those Tekken choices, they need to start drug testing!!

It might just be careful planning.

Like how the Ghostbusters box sets where always “Two Ghostbusters, Two other characters” (unless it was a stand alone 4 pack the the GB2 uniforms, or 3 Ghost sets) so both sets have headliners to carry the lesser characters this wave is all SF heavy hitters (except for Poison) you could put Ken, Cammy, Guile, Sagat, and Zangief in a box with 70 angry bees and even casual SF fans would probably pick it up.

I bet wave 2 is all Tekken headliners paired with “WTF!” Street Fighter choices (Rufus, Abel, Ju.... you know what let’s just make this list short: “anyone not in SF2”)

I also just realized we’re probably not getting everyone since I’ve only seen the cast divided by teams until Pawcanada’s last post... FIFTY characters?! that’s 9 waves (well 8 and some change) without DLC it’s 7 (6 and some spares) seeing as how Ghostbusters didn’t even get 7 waves and was at one point out selling Marvel and the game will be 4 months old before wave 1 even hits I don’t think SFxT is going to make it to the VERY end.

50 characters is a lot. BUT if you count the specialty and TRU assortments as one shared wave, we'll have 36 characters by the end of wave 3. I can't imagine we'll do less than that. And I'm not a huge Tekken fan, but this wave still has some A-listers in it. King? Nina? The fact that I know who they are tells me they're pretty famous. Combined with the SF characters, most of whom are A-list, it's a strong assortment. Wave 2 will have plenty of big Tekken dudes, but also some big SF names.

  9. 1. I love sweater vests, they were just shorthand for "nerd" in the 1960s.

    2. I like a good Ditko Parker, too, I just couldn't figure our what that forelock was in that pic. I was trying to find a shot of a real Superman-style spit-curl (I could have sworn I'd seen one somewhere), but settled for that. REGARDLESS, first appearance Peter Parker had plenty of product in his hair, it was just that he used it to make it flat, not puffy.

  10. I do think he'll acquire the costume somewhere, a bit like Kick Ass. People have said it looks a bit (lot) like a motorcross (or one of those other silly sports) suit.

The constant comparisons of Garfield to R-Patz... is it all because he has big hair? After all, he doesn't look anything like him beyond that.

For those who haven't already made there mind up about this film, and aren't really aware of Garfield or his work, I can promise he is a wonderful actor, and knows how to pick a role. Huge Spidey fan as well, from childhood.

Boy A, Never Let Me Go, Red Riding... can't recommend them enough.

I agree with all of it. And remember that Peter Parker has pretty much always been portrayed as traditionally handsome. I've never seen him drawn as ugly, or even as Tobey Maguire quirky. He's a square-jawed dude. Yes, he wore some unfortunate sweater-vests and (gasp) glasses early on, but after a while he was wearing contacts and Members Only jackets like the best of them. And as far as hair product go, it could be worse -- he could have a Ditko spit-curl.

  11. T

My only quibble would be that it would have been cool if DST had put the other hairpiece on the variant, but I'm not a MIP guy so I guess it doesn't really matter.

Sure, we make the blond agent the rare chase, then for some reason Aunt May comes with mostly redheaded agents, and next thing you know you guys are calling it "SHIELDGate" and our list of major screw-ups gets one longer. No thanks!

But I'm glad people like the wave! Can't wait to get mine...
