  1. .. partly cos I'm an old romantic at heart!

Hey now! There was no romance involved...

What seems to have been missing, for me, was the number of toy vendors was down. Still lots of comic booths (maybe more even than previously), but the stuff that orbits around comics wasn't well represented.

And the FarScape folks were charging big bucks to pose for pictures (I know lots of guests do that, but the FarScapers weren't last year)

It was good to meet Kirby. Next year I might tag around with his posse a bit, since my scheduled friend for the day was a no-show and I ended up on my own. I wanted to get a picture with Powergirl, but was afraid to approach her without a wingman -- Kirby would have been just the ticket. heh

Yeah, I missed out on getting Feedback autograph because it was $15 for an 8x10. I got a great candid shot of Mary Marvel and Powergirl together :teehee:

I still need to download the pics and write it all up, but we had a good time.

Cappy, you're totally welcome to join the gang

  2. Any news on the Minimate front? How was the convention?

There was nary a 'mate to be found - just 1 or 2 booths that had anything.

I got to meet Cappy, which was cool. I fogot to ask him to do the happy Cappy dance - maybe next year.

I high-fived Vader, and had Poison Ivy seduce my brother.

It was a good year ;)

ECCC felt really small compared to years past. I don't know if it's just PAX cutting into things, but we went all over and did a lot, and even backtracked a bunch, and were out early. Silly Gooser and Co were missed.

  3. I'm there Saturday as well.

I printed out my Secret Six minimate designs and I'm going to give them to Gail Simone, and hopefully I can get a Feedback drawn up to give him.

I'm all for meeting some of you - I've got a group of 8 I'll be kind-of rolling with (it's too cumbersome to keep a group together, so we're just gonna do our own thing, I think).

I'm hunting autographs from Feedback (hopefully I can snag a DVD of Who Wants To Be A Superhero and get him to sign it), Gail Simone, Frank Cho, Michael Avon Oeming, and Bill Crabtree. Maybe the Farscape peeps too.

  4. I asked the DCD guys about this at SDCC 2006. They said there were no "chase" figures planned for the line.

For the time being, I see that being the case. DCD had a long tradition of being very equitable in their case-packouts.

However, in the past several years, there have been a number of 'case incentive' variants for retailers. At first they were mostly unannounced - they were a surprise when a retailer would open a case up and find a little something extra.

I wouldn't be surprised if DCD surprises us down the road.

  5. What's it gonna take to get another wave of Street Fighter minimates? There have been a couple of announcements regarding a new movie, and the speculation about a new game is growing - are we just going to have to wait for these things to occur, or should some bribery and/or corporate sabotage take place?

How do you feel about the J-hooks?

    I love my battle-damage. I guess that's not a question. Any liklihood for a super-battle-damaged-sniper-bullet-in-the-back Captain America?

Will you guys ever come up here to the greater Pacific Northwest (just the Washington part) for our Emerald City Comic Con. We have qualities coffees and beers - you can't go wrong!

A couple of years ago, there was some stuff for SDCC with stickers "I'm a Radical, Ask me how." What was the right answer? I got a t-shirt, but I have never really felt closure on the matter.

    Thanks Chuck. :)
