  1. I'm liking what I see, but I was hoping Batman's cowl would be removable, but instead it looks like he'll have a jumbo-head with a lower-chin printed on it... Any word if this will change from the prototype? I always design cowled characters with the idea that it's removable. (Hence, bigger than the normal head) Looks like Iron Cow did the same, but maybe something was lost in translation to plastic from his designs?
  2. Haha, no worries talking about me, I just hadn't had a chance to post yet! I appreciate people thinking of me with this news. I am a little worried that I would have to be on-hand for this, as comic companies require the person they're scouting to be infront of them for a meeting, regardless of talent. Most places won't even accept work by mail anymore because they want to meet the human producing it. My other fear is that in the short time I have to prepare something, I can't get non-minimate work in there. This seems to be an open-ended job op, not a minimate exclusive job, so I might be limiting myself by just showing them the Minimate end of what I can do. That said though, it really couldn't hurt to give it a try. If I had heard about this sooner, I would have gone myself, but now it would be nearly impossible to get accomodations, and airfare for me is over $1200 before all the fees and such. Plus, I can't get off work with short notice. I'm going to put something together showing who I am. Worst thing they can do is reject it, or laugh that I couldn't make it I suppose, but at least it would be noticed! Good luck to anyone else going to try out. This is a very cool opportunity!
  3. Thanks for the comments everyone! Looks like it'll be hard to top Leia. Unless I just throw everyone into a metal bikini! I posted this in the Crisis forum with the discussion of Penny Arcade Minimates, but I thought I'd put it in my own thread as well. And before anyone asks (since someone who saw me making these already did...) I figure Tycho's eyebrows would actually be sculpted onto the hairpiece, and Gabe's would be printed on the face.
  4. I know it's not the custom forum, but something I came up with in a spare half-hour after reading this thread, and coincidently finishing the first Trade Paperback. I love this strip! And before anyoneasks (since someone who saw me making these already did...) I figure Tycho's eyebrows would actually be sculpted onto the hairpiece, and Gabes would be printed on the face.
  5. Heheh, my fault! Leia's template is on the way! Awesome Luke (which I also mention in my e-mail) That's very nice! I always like seeing my designs put into 3-D, especially by you!
  6. Thanks for all the comments, everyone! TBT - Don't worry, the AI files are all saved! TM2 Dinobot - That's sadly too true. I love all things Batman, even the new Batwoman design, but I'm worried for the legitimacy of the character beyond the Lesbian 'shock-value' that they gave the press. Here's my next SW one, in the Return of the Jedi Series. Last one of the SW series for a bit, I'm working on some "It came from the Basement" mates (not saying what though, sorry!) and a few other freelance things. If some free time comes up though, I want to get the main cast in their major outfits done over time. Maybe some more Prequel Mates as well! But for now, here's Princess Leia from the Sail Barge!
  7. Thanks again everyone! Here's a 3-parter. I figure it's the same mate, but with interchangable parts. Different hands, removable tunic, and in the style of the cloaked Batman mate, remove the arms and add a wrap-around cloak. Luke Skywalker from Return of the Jedi! Jabba the Hutt's Palace The Pit of Carkoon Death Star II
  8. Thanks again guys! Here's a non-DC one, at Fujis' suggestion to show my art before Marvel unveils an Iron-Spidey. (C'mon, you know this one will be done officially very soon! It's a natural variant!) To keep it in line with the previous Spider-Men, I've purposely left off muscle detail. I thought it might be odd not to keep the tradition of no muscles on Spidey-Mates.
  9. Darn tootin'! Here's another One Year Later -- The Jade Canary / Lady Shiva, whatever she officially goes by with the Birds of Prey...
  10. Awesome stuff, great Civilian Cap! Keep it up!
  11. Thanks everyone! Here's another One Year Later character, although Ted Kord is still my Blue Beetle.
  12. Another One Year Later / 52 addition -- the new Batwoman!
  13. The first in a small series of DC's One Year Later (and 52) designs -- Tim Drake in his new Robin outfit!
  14. Thanks everyone! I'll be starting up a custom gallery with some new works in the customs forum in a minute. You can also see most of my back-log at my site. The full back-log will be along shortly, but the majority of galleries are up now.
  15. Hi everyone! I used to post over at an older incarnation of the Art Asylum forum under the handle gra007. Well, now I'm Basement24, as is my website and a few other things in my life. For those of you who don't know me, I'm into DC Minimates mainly, and I am told I was the first to post a custom in the form of custom control art at the very old AA forums. (not even the last version of them). This may or may not be true, it's just something I was told once! Regardless, I don't work on 3-D customs, I just create my own control art. I'll be posting some new control art I've created here from time to time.
