  1. Hey HD, the Ninja bats aren't gone from here, you just aren't looking hard enough. ;)

I saw at least three of them at the Western Hills TRU yesterday. It is a sweet figure, but the action feature on one of the arms hinders the posability a bit.

After that one, it's hard to say who to get next. Tunnel Rat is really cool. Nice sculpt, neat accessories. Heavy Duty is cool and is freakin' huge. Spirit has a nice sculpt and a sweet axe. You really can't go wrong with whichever character you decide to buy next.

  2. I bought a Nintendo DS Lite two weeks ago and I can't believe how much I enjoy playing it. When the original DS came out, I swore to never buy one because it was so big and unwieldy my hands cramped just thinking about holding one. Then came the DS Lite so I figured I'd give it a try.

I've got Big Brain Academy, Brain Age, WarioWare Touched, and just bought Metroid Prime Hunters; all of which make regular use of the touch screen. I've not played BBA, or Metroid Prime yet, but Brain Age and WarioWare are awesome. I'm planning to get Nintendogs, but it probably won't happen for at least a couple more weeks.

Other games worth mentioning that don't require as much use of the touch screen are New Super Mario Bros. and MarioKart DS. Both games are AWESOME! As soon as I get a little better at MarioKart, I'll be looking to play some folks online.

Anyway, if you are considering buying a DS but have been on the fence about it like I was, take the plunge. It's definitely worth the money, in my humble opinion.

  3. My Firefly is a little loose, too. It might just be me, but it seems that the Commando Assortment figures are put together a little better than the Soldier Assortment (the carded $9.99 figures). The only exception is Tunnel Rat. He is a Soldier asst figure and he seems to be pretty nice. My Kamakura, Urban Assault Snake Eyes, Firefly, and shirtless Stormshadow all have minor issues from paint flaws to loose joints, to way oversized hands in the case of Stormshadow. The Commando figures all look great. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not.

As for Firefly, I too was confused when I first found him and saw that he was a Joe. Sneaky little bastard, huh?

The new figures look great. Zartan is definitely my favorite, but I'm really looking forward to that double-jointed Snake Eyes and Timber too.

  4. Well, thanks to Cappy I have a blue Cuboyd now. It has better posability than any other block figure I've seen, just not as much personality as a LEGO minifig or a Minimate. Still, it's a pretty nice block figure. The design kind of reminds me of a Shockini, but with one tiny difference... the Cuboyd doesn't suck. ;)

  5. I can't say that any one movie is my absolute favorite movie of all time. I like too many different movies, and depending on my mood, I will like one more than another on any given day. Having said that, two movies I enjoy regardless of my mood are:

    Midnight Run

    Napoleon Dynamite

Good stuff there, I tell ya.

  6. Funny ideas I had when I first started collecting: I thought the Giant Sized X-men set were 3" minimates (why else would it be called giant size?!?!)

    Same here

Ha!! I can't tell you how many people posted on the old AA board asking what size those figures were going to be. It used to drive me nuts!!! Nuts I say!!! Ah, the good old days.

I started out with the 3" figures and never had any intention of buying any 2 inchers. I remember thinking how bad AA messed up by releasing a new scale figure. I didn't care that it had to be done to get the license, I just thought the whole idea sucked. Once I saw them in person, however, I was hooked. They were way cooler than the 3" mates, and soon I was buying all the promos, packaging variations, etc... At one time I had AT LEAST three of every character, including the variants. I'm not that hardcore about it anymore, as I only buy one each of the regular release stuff, (no more packaging variants and promos) and I'll be buying all the Marvel, DC and Street Fighter mates, and possibly the other new licenses depending on how they look to me when I see them for sale.

  7. My favorite Marvel minimate right now is Venom, but my favorites change regularly. Previous favorites have included:

    Magneto

    Spiderman

    Frosted Ice Man

    Human Torch

    Ghost Rider

    Daredevil yellow

    Ben Reilley Spiderman

    Spider-Carnage

    Carnage

    Green Goblin

    Capt. America

    :)

  8. When I first saw these, I was only planning to buy the StormShadow (seems like all my toylines start off with "I'm only getting this ONE.") and I was hooked. I just bought the new Snake Eyes (I prefer the molded visor) and Firefly on Tuesday. Great looking figures. Can't wait to find Destro.
