A must-buy set all around for me. But that should be obvious. My only question at this point is do I get one, and just change Xavier into Mastermind permanently, or get 2, so I can have both at the same time.

We should split a second set. I need a second Jean to customize, you need a second Xavier. Somewhere, some Avengers fan probably wants our extra Quicksilver and I'm SURE a spare Toad would sell

Quicksilver ...terrific & I wouldn't have even noticed other peoples' opinion that the colours might be inexact .

The funny thing here is that the complaint regarding Quicksilver is based entirely on demonstrable costume details that could be addressed with existing Minimate parts. It's not an opinion that the colors are inexact; it's fact. The opinion is how important it would be to represent the short lived non-white trimmed version of the costume. For me, it's a non-issue. This Pietro is going straight into my parts bin.

Oddly enough, if I had ANY complaint about this set, it would be Jean's hair, BUT... that is only because I wasn't a reader back then and any exposure I have to this costume was drawn by modern artists who gave her a more modern hair style. I realize it is inaccurate to the era, but it's what I picture when I picture this look.

  3. This fandom always makes me chuckle. Maybe I'm too simple of a man. People hate special pieces because they ruin the simple aesthetic. People hate the lack of special pieces because without them, the figures aren't accurate enough. Meanwhile, I'm over here liking a toy line that offers an insanely wide array of properties and characters within those properties coupled with an amazing play feature at a ridiculously reasonable price. Are there things I'd like to have that don't exist? Sure! But everything I get is a thing I didn't used to have and that's pretty cool.

"Show me crouched miniatures and I'll shut up."

::multiple pictures of crouched Minimates are posted::

    ::griping continues::

And, as regards "If you can't get it right, please don't bother"...

Please kindly speak for yourself; because I'll take DST "not getting it right" over the crap most toy companies pump out any day.

And might I suggest putting Toad, in the crouchiest crouch you can manage, on a jump/flight base? I bet it'll look superb even to the most critical eye.

Yeah this is getting pretty confusing!  I'm really hoping the classic villain is the thor one and skurge seems a great bet but doesn't he wear some armour?  I've never seen him wear a helmet though.  And I have absolutely no idea of anyone who's cosmic, armoured and modern right now either.

I believe he wore one in his first appearance

  5. Now... if Skurge IS our classic villain, he's not the armored one, right? I've never seen him have a "dressed down" look that I can think of. So who's cosmic, armored, and modern story-specific but COULD have a dressed down look?

    Mid-July for 74.

All of the "Avengers" looks, including the new Legacy Avenger, the new Spider-Verser (not a Parker) and the X-Man-who-has-been-an-Avenger, are modern and I would say half are story-specific, although two more sprung from a specific storyline and have hung around. Two have what I would consider alternate looks (different heads and/or hair and/or torsos), and one has a removable head covering, with bonus hair.

One of the villains is modern, story-specific, but the other is definitely CLASSIC. One of them is armored, and while there are no bonus feet, there is an interchangeable face and removable helmet, and you could conceivably break it down for an unarmored look.

So Riri will have an unarmored look and Steve will have a removable mask with hair. Then Rogue will have Brotherhood AND UA parts. Beyond that...

Here's a thought I had. If we end up getting a Toad, would anyone be opposed to him having the same build as, say, Carl from TWD? I think the shorter arms/legs would work better for a character of his size.

I personally don't think he's any shorter than Wolverine or Puck. Slipper shoes? Maybe. But not kid limbs.

Do you think that the ugly yellow 70's angel costume with extra parts to make mimic could be a possibility? That would be amazing.

That's what I was thinking after my Changeling guess.

  9. I would agree with this assessment. He's the Seth Rogen of comic book writing. Seth plays one last really well. I assume that's just "who he is." Cast him in that role, he'll kill it. Same with Bendis. Need a Spider-Man style insecure hero who quips to hide his insecurity? You're golden. Need ANYONE else? They may lose the insecurity, but they're still gonna be a smartass.
