  1. They are the pinnacle of all that a Minimate can possibly be.

Waits for Alpheon to be let down by whatever comes next*, from the pinacle there is only downhill ;)

I had considered that, and you're absolutely right. ;) I promise, though, not to fill any threads with whiny posts of "Why couldn't they do this like Iron Man? *pig snort*".

I'd like to take this moment to nominate the Mark I as the best 2-in-1 Minimate ever produced.

    I second the nomination.

...but then, how many 2-in-1 Minimates have been produced? I can only think of the upcoming Skrulls and Classic Avengers, but I know I'm missing some.

  2. Got mine today.

Great timing in release, wonderful paint apps, good likenesses, innovative new pieces, good variant, the right number of figures, and terrific detail.

These may very well be the best Marvel-produced Minimates yet. Really wonderfully made; to me, these are the culmination of all our years of suggestions, complaints, and cries for improvements. They are the pinnacle of all that a Minimate can possibly be. The absolute best touches being the detailing under the armor pieces allowing for dual identities, the inclusion of extra pieces for different visual and articulation effects (extra legs for Iron Man Mark II and III), and the lack of a peg hole on Obadiah's head.

These, ladies and gentlemen, are products of a listening toy producer.

These, ladies and gentlemen, are the Minimates of the Future.

  3. Picked 'em up today. Cooler out of the box than you'd expect, actually. Most of the figs are slightly different from the boxart (Abomination was greatly improved; now actually worthy of being called a Minimate), the most notable of which being A-bomb, Bruce (likeness = better), and the Hulks (no diapers, and regular feet included in little plastic pouches!).

I'd post pics, but I saw MINI_MYTE lurking around, so chances are he'll be posting his awesome brand of visual teasers. ;)

EDIT: Just noticed--the plastic tray Abomination comes in was unmodified after the change in his design. The arm slots are much longer than the new Minimate's, and were made to accomidate those horrid hazmat gloves the original had (the new Abomination just has the Venom/Marvel Zombie claw hands).

  4. Yeah, these are great--awesome Power Rangers--but may I make a few suggestions?

Use thumbnails for the pics. They're pretty big, and there are quite a few of them. I can hear the screams of agony from dial-up users now... :P

Also, make a note in the thread title about the thread being picture-heavy. It'll help ease frustrations when loading the page, and thus, more people will wind up waiting to see your amazing customs.

Maybe include a little blurb about each custom instead of simply posting the pics, hoping we'll figure out who the characters are for ourselves.

Lastly, if I may suggest introducing yourself. We're a pretty friendly bunch, and will most likely take you in with open arms. To be honest, the thread--to me, anyway--looks like a more than slightly rude way of showing up our resident Muggs specialist, ARE-JAY. If it was a little more personalized, this whole thread would be easier to take.

And finally--welcome to the Multiverse! :)

  5. Holy amazing!! Those are GREAT; no wonder they're paid for!

    Really, really good. Really.

I'm trying terribly hard to come up with a critique...but can't seem to find anything. Actually, the one and only thing I'd change is Rorschach's face. Seems a little too elaborate--I, personally, would pick a simpler blob pattern, but he still looks like Rorschach. All-in-all, spectacular!

  6. .... and hold whatever I want for as long as I want. :)

    ?

    :sick::yucky:

Uh, I meant keep...you know, if they have Minimates for me, they'll hold on to the Minimates until I come pick them up. Eww.

  7. My comic shop gets their stuff Wednesday, then catalogs it and releases it Thursday. ...but what's a little extra wait? Because I'm a loyal customer, :D , my middleman Phillip will hold anything I want, special order anything he can, and hold whatever I want for as long as I want. :)

But how can you guys pass up an entire wave? I mean, yes, they are lackluster--but my "problem" (not something I'm particularly proud of) is the simple fact that if I see Minimates I don't have, I simply MUST buy them. I have that little self-control. :( There's probably councilling for that...

I even bought the Abomination/Smart Hulk 2-pack, without even thinking about the plastic monsters that were inside. I quickly realized I had just brought into my home the most awful Minimates ever made (to my knowledge).

  8. I'm sorry. I really didn't mean to hijack the thread--and I now see that my comments were inappropriately placed. I apologize.

Also, my comments were not well enough informed, and I shouldn't have said anything without knowing the facts. I don't know her personally, so all I can give observations on is my own judge of character from her interviews, photos, and movie performances. Unfortunately, the information I "shared" here came only from bits and pieces I'd read on the internet. Hardly a reliable source. I understood, though, that it certainly wasn't fifty different men. Ouch.

Anyway, keeping this topic kid friendly, I agree, blackcat. This Spirit really is too serious, too dark; too Frank-Millered. I kind of wish they'd kept some of the feel of the original comics...but I suppose we'll only know when the movie is released.

  9. And honestly, I'm sorry, but the whole leather-and-cleavage thing is just overdone. In my humble opinion, Ms. Mendes herself is overdone. The Minimate and the actress it's based on both look like gussied-up hookers.

I agree with you about her -- I've thought that for a while now.

The self-described slut who's had sex in all fifty states is not a good actress (in my opinion), either. :( I was excited about The Spirit film until I heard she was the "babe" in it. Ah, well. Maybe her character dies a horrible death.

...but then, her lack of acting ability would get in the way of pulling even that off nicely...CGI, maybe?

Liking the Spirit's tie, though. 3D really looks good on him. Think DST will be pulling this off with more Minimates in the future? With a little modification, I can see that making a nice Hitman custom... :D

And his hair...is that as big as it looks?

  10. Wow. Palpatine-proportions. Seems too absurd to be real. I'll admit, I didn't read through the whole legislation .pdf, but I will--the first .pdf is way too slanted to be recognized as fact. Not a poke at you, blacksun, just recommending to others to read the actual legislation, linked to within the first document.

  11. Uh, Trekker, maybe you were kidding, but McCoy said the line a whole lot more than that...

Can't get much more dead than that.

And darn nice customs, TBT! You're talent and technique are going through obvious and substantial development with each new post (if you don't mind my saying so)!

And Two-Face? Lay off the hick's apostrophes. And the excalmation marks. It's more than a bit old, and it makes it really hard to take you seriously.

  12. I think we should also take into account that the Wii--put simply--is not a system for "die-hard gamers." It's a revolutionary piece of hardware meant to bring semi-physical activity and variety into what was previously a market meant pretty specifically for boys (and their dads, sometimes). The Wii is not just another gaming console. It's in a category of its own, catering to seniors, small children, and "fun family" types. Things like House of the Dead, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Super Mario Galaxy simply make sense (I may dare say as afterthoughts); since Nintendo is producing the console, they should produce the games as well, to draw "gamers" like you and I into what is really a market not meant for us.

I bought a Wii for SSB: Brawl. That's it. My parents greatly enjoy Boom Blox, and my sister likes Mario Kart Wii. I have fun with Sports, every once in a while, but the Wii in itself was kind of a waste of money for me.

Basically, what I'm saying is: the Wii is not a gaming console. Don't look at it as one. This machine appeals to people who have no idea what "320GB HD" means.

I agree, though, that even from senior's/child's/parent's/general non-gamer's prospective, Wii Music looks really stupid.

Everything you read above is, of course, my opinion--and you're welcome to tell me I'm wrong. :)

  13. Don't know what kind of "carrying case" you are looking for, exactly, but if you just want some way of storing your figures and accessories in little cubbies, you might consider looking at tackle boxes at local bait shops or Academy Sports, or maybe even tool boxes.

I was thinking something more along the lines of a case meant to preserve, protect, and make portable figures this size. If at all possible, I'd like something that gives each figure his own space, laid out on felt...but alas, my dreams don't always shape reality.

I have a magNIFIcent toolbox for my Minimates, but for the Covenant & Co., it just wouldn't work. :( I appreciate your suggestion, though.

  14. I'm looking for a carrying case for my opened (loose) Halo 3 figures. I need one desperately, but all my attempts at finding one have only turned up Star Wars vintages costing upwards of $100. I'd like something monochrome and without advertisement, if possible.

I seem to remember that a long time ago there was a thread about Marvel Legends carrying cases, or something, but a few searches turned up nothing.

Anyway, just something that'll hold loose 5"-8" figures for easy transport would be wonderful. Thanks for any suggestions you have. This issue has been driving my stress level up a few notches over the past few weeks, as Master Chief has no place to live. :(

  15. I'm pretty sure he does respect "the Superman"...

...he just doesn't give a rip about some house that Jerry Siegel happened to live in. :)

I'm pretty sure he also respects Jerry Siegel himself, and his contribution to our modern world. But the house?

How can you respect an inanimate object (besides being a good steward, and all that stuff)?

I mean, it's not even a mansion or anything...it's just a...just a house. A plain ol' house.
