  1. I noticed this on BBTS during their last sale. It eventually sold out, but. . .damn.

This is what I thought of also when AGT Picard was mentioned.

I took a couple hours off of work today to be first in line at TRU to get these (I actually was there yesterday to learn that their Thursday truck actually goes on shelves Friday-grrrr). I'm very impressed with these and think this line will be very successful (I suppose I should have worded that as 'this line should live long and prosper'...)

And it wasn't until I had these in hand that I realized how flat-chested Janeway is (yes, I know all female are). Great attention to detail DST!

Kudos to DST for a great relaunch!

  2. Is it the retailers shying away from niche sets or buyers? Of the last few years exclusives, several are still easily available (Alpha Flight, Stormbreaker, AvX, MvC3, etc), several of which are at a discount. And that doesn't include non-Marvel stuff. You can't blame DST or someone like AFX for not taking a gamble this year and putting out four packs that get the attention of con goers. They have to compete for their money and the casual fan is more likely to pick up a pack of cool looking Wolverines and Deadpools than Alpha Flight. I'd have loved to have seen different offerings and am bummed a bit that there aren't any new characters being released at SDCC this, however I'll take stuff like this that will most definitely sell better than something I like that makes more exclusives less likely. Just a thought.

  3. I appear to be pretty alone on this, but not only do I get why this set was made, I'm not mad that it wasn't something else and I really like the set and am happy it's being made.

And to make me less likable, I readily admit that I will enjoy this way more than that Strange Tales boxset.

  4. In a year that's giving us a four pack of Venoms, Hulks and Wolverines, I'm not sure why anyone is surprised by this set. With the buzz out there about the MU DP Taco Truck and the new DP game coming out soon, this seems like a no-brainer set when you're looking for sales. And since AFX still has ALpha Flight from last year, I'm betting they're wanting a big hitter this year (as would DST I'd assume).

  5. Just went to install the game on my iPad 1 and it says it's incompatible because the game needs a front-facing camera...

    ...uh, why?

Well, I don't know about the game, but I wouldn't want to see pictures from a rear-facing camera. I see enough cracks in public as it is.

I just sent you a fb friend request neolego. I'm the one with the Hello Kitty picture.

  6. I have to say I'm a little surprised to see that we aren't getting any 'new' Marvel characters released at the con, but I think everything is very solid. I will say that seeing the IM3 set for $55 made me go into 'old man' mode...

'I remember back in my day when TRU put out a ten pack of Minimates for $20. And it had a new character in it.'

I suppose my biggest hope is that the 10 pack works at that price and that more will follow. Could you image how well received something like a Jim Lee X-Men set would do if it had some of the harder to find characters like Gambit and Psylocke in it? Throw in a few unreleased characters like Forge or Banshee and I'd have no boubts of it selling well.

  7. I suppose I'm always bothered by companies that are out of touch with what people want and keep telling people that what they have is cool. DC is that way and Mattel and DCD follow the same idea.

Now, if instead of an Injustice line of figures these were Blackest Night figures, I bet there would have been much better reception. The figures would still be produced poorly, but the looks would have been more in touch with what was successful with DC.

  8. No Doctor Who? give me twenty tennant variants!

I just saw a pic from someone's trip to the Funko offices that had a whiteboard with which upcoming figures are assigned to which employees for design. On the list were Dr. Who #4, Dr. Who #11, Dalek, Cyberman and Tardis. They must have heard your request.

  9. I just got these last week when my Pile of Loot shipped from BBTS and I have yet to take them out of the package. I've gotten all of their Green Lantern figures and knew what to expect when it came to size comparisons. I suppose my biggest gripe is that even when DC finally listens to fans to give them better figures, they still miss the point. I can say that having all of the Infinite Heroes line makes you appreciate these, but they're not MU standards and certainly not MU price. I'm excited to see another GL SDCC pack, but not the $50 price for 3 figures and a cat. I'll keep getting these, but I wish DC could get on board with what their fans are asking for.

  10. To me, a boxset that will be announced soon before release and is not the standard four-pack sure sounds like a Disney Store thing to me. The Avengers sets were announced close to their release and the Jolly Roger broke the norm with two figures packed in with a ship. Just throwin' that out there.
