  1. Just wanted to thank vbpanizzi for the awesome care package I got today. I didn't even think I'd get mail this week given how horrible the snow has been. I got a DCC Blue Beetle, Spider-Girl, Gina (the one with the glasses), some of the accessories I asked for in trade, a mixed mashed mate figure and a nice card. I loved it!

  2. Scarlet Spider - I know I'm probably going to get hit for this, but I felt the Scarlet we got was... Lacking. As you might tell from my avatar, Scarlet is one of my all time favourite Spidey costumes, yet I was a little dissapointed with what we got. The web shooters were painted on, which is odd when previous minimates of Ben had them as seperate pieces. I also felt the pouches on his legs could have been seperate, he could (perhaps) have a powerhouse chest piece for his hoodie and a slip-on mask (I realise I'm probably the only one who liked it on Spidey) with a blonde hair piece.

Are you kidding? This is my number one pick for needing an update. The web shooters are painted on sloppy, the ankle packs are brown smudges, his hoodie is flat and no removable mask.

After thinking about it for a nice while, I agree with almost every suggestion posted in this thread, and would also like to see an updated Mary Jane at some point. (Strangely the old Gwen Stacy 'mate looks just fine.)

... think there's a chance we might see Bridal Gown MJ at some point? Screw Mephisto and JoeQ, that wedding was comics history dammit!

Mary Jane is the second on my list. I'd like any MJ but her wedding dress is her other iconic look. And really I'd think it would be hilarious. "No, Mary Jane never got married!" :P

Nightcrawler: Just because he's impossible to find but he has a lot of looks to choose from.

Professor X: Hover chair and with the 90s X-Men out he could wear the "action" outfit he wore on the cartoon.

  3. Here are some of the baddies that have shown up in Booster Gold. From the Time Stealers an early version of Despero. I wanted to use Havoks' weird head piece for something but I wasn't sure if I should sculpt the fin. The jewel works as his third eye.

Rick Remender used Lady Chronos to fight Booster in his series as well as the All New Atom. She teams up with the original Chronos, as his partner and lover. Sharing his interesting fashion sense.

  4. At least this way I get to have the figures I wanted that would likely not get made or not for a long time anyway if the line continued. With Marvel most of the characters I want are already made while the rest are likely to get done.

I am fond of Chubby Beetle maybe because I love that era so much.

Thank you so much! :) I do have a fair amount planned, many of which aren't big names, a few "newbies", and much older characters.

  5. Simple yet effective :) And Chubby Ted looks fun too :D

Yeah, I wanted to start on something simple. And I suspect that if I ever get around to doing a comic with these figures that I'll have much fun with chubby Ted. ;)

I'm going to like you... those look lovely, cannot wait to see what else you do... I really want a Fire and Ice now. Oh, and y'know what, I don't think i've seen one custome Mr.Miracle on here... yet

I'm almost done on Fire. I thought about her flamed look but it was too simple to work on, and the new look isn't iconic. So it's the 80's duds. :) I actually haven't thought about doing a Miracle yet but I have thought about a Max Lord.

  6. I've been working on getting the characters I wanted made into customs.

Since DC gave up on minimates it doesn't seem likely that we'll see them get made anyway. Being a big JLI/Booster Gold fan my interest tends to lean directly towards characters from those books. The first one I finished was Ice, and while Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) is not finished and already has a figure I wanted to see how he looked in his chubby stage.

  7. Now that we're getting a Jim Lee Storm, I'd like to see a Summers wave like this:

    Jean Grey/Cyclops

    Mr. Sinister/Cable

    Stryfe/Domino

    Variant: AOA Sinister

I'd like a Summers wave but I'd like some members that weren't done yet. Nate Grey, Rachel Summers, maybe Hope, Corsair and Maddie.

  8. I'm trying to have limits with how many X-Men 'mates I get and they make the original X-Factor with a smiling Iceman, a lot of nice looking Angel variants including his original X-uniform and CB/Shadowcat with Lockheed. Guess I'll be getting more new 'mates than I expected.

  9. Just some idea a newbie had that I'd like to see or maybe try:

-A line based on a specific movie/tv show/book, or comic ex: Star Wars Attack of the Clones.

-Characters that normally don't get made into customs. Lesser known or simply overlooked.

-A team of bad guys like the Injustice League, or maybe anti-heroes like the Secret Six.

  10. With Marvel and DC I can pick and chose which ones I want without having to get every wave. I'm not sure I could do that with Star Wars. I'd likely have to get every different variant of characters that appear in more than one movie like Obi-Wan, Luke, etc. All the Sith lords, Jedi, and even a few comic characters. So while I'd want minimate Star Wars my wallet is happy that it's safe.

  11. I admit that I'm pretty bummed about not having the line go any further when I see all that Marvel is doing with Minimates. I am glad that we at least got Booster Gold, Blue Beetle, Guy Gardner, Cass/Batgirl in c3, some TT and a few others. But then you start thinking about the could have beens, Fire/Ice, more Green Lantern figures based on Blackest Night, never made figures like Rip Hunter--it's pretty frustrating. But based on how DCD handles some of their other lines I think I have an idea of what you mean for what they had in mind. :wallbash:

  12. That's the general theory a lot of fans have. I'd feel the same if it's true. That's my favorite lantern. But of course they also said that

the early death due to the glitch they had to fix (Guy getting the ring instead of Hal) had Guy dying "decades" before he was supposed to. And Guys' supposed to be around Hals' age right? That's what, mid 30 something? It would also be pretty annoying to get Ice back and then have him die.

  13. But where's Hal? Where's Guy? Where's Kilowog?

    No G'nort? Shocking!

Keep in mind, Rad, these are figures for Blackest Night. I'm assuming that DCD already knows DC plans for the entire event, or else making some of these would be pointless. With Hal coming to SDCC (at limited supply AND each having a wearable Corps Ring ), i can only assume this is to mean that Guy, G'nort, and Kilowog won't play major roles in the actual event.

Not having Guy surprised me a little as Booster Gold #2 which was co-written by Geoff Johns said that

Guy will be known as the greatest green lantern after playing a vital role in the Blackest Night.

    Hopefully that's a good thing.

  14. I'm not sure how good the story will be but then again I've never saw the appeal in zombies. Very curious to see that they planned this far ahead. I know some GL fans have been waiting for another Kyle figure, Arisia and Larfleeze. Curious to see that Wonder Woman is in this line, that now DCD has accessories (which I thought they got rid of) and Star Sapphire has another new figure. I'm most amused with the alien babies and the bat skull. The babies because I can only image them trying to sell this in Toys r Us and the skull because of the green eyes and pointed bat ears.

    Thanks for posting!

  15. But no, I didn't mean doing box sets for each season (as cool-but-implausible as that'd be!), just that if they have one Buffy and one Angel set designed, they'd likely set each in a certain time period of the series (or comics), and I think the characters would be most recognizable (in minimate form) as S1 Buffy (geeky Willow, flashy Xander, librarian Giles) and final season Angel (Illyria instead of Fred, Spike's around, bald Gunn, grizzly Wes, etc).

On the one hand I'd say don't hold your breath, on the other hand it was only a year ago we had a thread about how one lone set of Ghostbusters mates would be both great and unlikely, and now we're getting dozens of them. So who knows...

I didn't mean to imply box set seasons outside the first set each offered just an idea of what a good starting point would be from their POV. I don't know, everyone seems to have a different idea of what is the iconic versions of the characters. Some see geeky Willow, others will say powerful near god level witch Willow. But I'd be more excited about the Angel sets.

Believe me after all the disappointing teases I've had with DST over more Jossverse figures I'm not going to believe it unless I see them in the store first. I'm already planning how to do a Fang Gang set.
