  1. I will happily pay whatever the cost to get these in my hands. I'd ideally like to be down for two copies of each (To pose Logan and Wade in their alternate looks) but if we want to be even I'll take what I can get. I just wanted to preemptively thank everyone for banding together to get these in homes.

It needs to be said, though...DST's handling of these releases is very frustrating. I know Minimates are a low-margin product, but they're based on two highly-popular movies that DST originally skipped despite the fan demand. I won't even begin to understand how distribution works (Especially with Covid and everything), but it just feels like there could have been more open communication through the supply chain. I don't want to dismiss Zach because he does great work and is super chatty with the community, but the messaging of "Even if I knew where they were I wouldn't tell so people won't blow up the store" to "You'll likely need to import these" hurts a little. People want to buy these, people want the product. Even if it's a small community people still *want* them. With Minimates slowing down month by month, it's getting harder to find them and thus people are going to be more desperate to know.

Maybe I'm just rambling, but I just wish things were more open between DST and the community. I know nothing about business stuff nor will I ever pretend to (I’m just a depressed 26-year old with too much time on her hands). I understand we're a niche of a niche, I guess I just wish things were better. Even just DST knowing who bought the product for online sale would be something.

With the recent addition of a Hasbro item with G.I. Joe........oh snap.......dare I dream......are we getting Jem & The Holograms minimates?   Lol

Although on a more serious note, kinda hoping it will be license for The Witcher be it game, books or Netflix based.

DST's press release about the Hasbro license did state Jem was on that list. I'd say....maybe.

  3. Seems to be BBTS's usual markup. $35 on EE. Even then, that's still a bit much for a 4-pack. I think I remember Zach talking about Minimates being a low profit margin product, but these feel really empty for that price. I guess the packaging is supposed to feel deluxe. It's super neat in concept, but I can't help but feel underwhelmed

Also, DST *really* needs to get better prototypes when they solicit Minimates. They always look so much rougher than the final product, and I think people seeing those mock-ups makes them think the final product looks like that.

  4. We just got the first box set and there's already a better Snake Eyes, such is life...

These decos look great. Zach, would Series 1 and 2 be dropping at relatively the same time? When you say it's a "box of individually-carded figures," do you mean a box set and they're packed like that, or it's a retail case of individual Minimates for sale?

  5. That's disappointing. Hasbro and Funko are both jumping on the train for the movie, Bandai just showed off their Figuarts for him, kind of lame that DST would skip out on it. Maybe Walgreens didn't want to and DST didn't see any luck for a comic shop set. I know Disney's own store does the occasional Marvel Select (They had Sam Cap, FFH Spidey, I'm sure they'll do one for Shang-Chi), I don't see why at least 2-pack would be out of the realm of possibility.

You're the best, gold star for you!

Matt, please, I'm worried about you. You've gotten really heated at almost anything these days, and I think this level of anger towards everything is really dangerous for your mental health. I know you're frustrated over a lot of how Minimates have been, but yelling at Zach and dropping f-bombs over a box set meant for casual buyers isn't the best way to cope. You don't like when there's no new Minimates, but you also get furious when there's new Minimates that aren't specifically what you want. I know you're passionate about the line, but they're still just toys in the end. I think you need to step away for a bit, it really worries me that you get this angry over stuff

  7. Glad they’re confirmed to be new prints. The first promo shot was literally the same as the prototype pics from the 2012 figures.

I still would have preferred a big Endgame final battle set, but I’m just happy to see Minimates at a convention again.

  8. Starting a box set with some big characters is good, but I think what most people are looking for is confidence in the brand instead of a "wait and see" approach to Minimates. I think some folk would be more likely to pre-order one set knowing that it'll be a full range instead of a one-off set. Even just a few sneak peaks here and there at an upcoming figure would be cool. Hasbro does that from time to time, releasing a pic of a figure that's part of an upcoming wave and then later revealing what the full wave is.
