  1. Whatever BHM says.

I'm just generally pissed of with all the BS & the 'super'-marketing ploys . Just fucking give me the product or fuck off before I do.

If DST ran a pub we'd all be sober at the end of the evening.

In leu of the recent drought. We'd have nothing to drink when we got there. But finally it's starting to turn.

As far as the marketing ploys... The pathfinder mates a pretty ridiculous. They said they would offer some them on online after gencon. I'll be pretty pissed if the "spend $100 get a free minimate" is offered for $5 after the fact.

  2. "We always keep back significant quantities of all promotional miniatures for later sale on Paizo.com. We realize not everyone will be at the show, so missing out won't mean missing the miniature entirely, as long as you pay attention to the website."

They do a lot of business on their Webstore, including a few exclusive non-Minimates products we've made them in the past, so hopefully most will be there for retail price, and any that aren't don't run you too much or prove too hard to find.

I hope so. Because even if somebody were to try to gather them all I doubt he could. Thing is the exclusives sound extremely cool and I'd hate to miss on them.

    Challenge accepted. ninja.gif

  3. The two translucent Merks were pretty easy to get at about $10 a pop last year. These I would expect to be more difficult, since the Turtles are more popular then Battle Beasts. But I wouldn't pay more then $20 for any individual ones at any time.

I would also think, that given the popularity of "TMNT", there will be an abundance of these giveaways.

I really thought that they said Muggs were dead. Maybe I just hoped it. blush.png

Sorry man, if you are into them, I hope they continue. I don't want to poo poo somebody's passion. Seriously, but I did think they were over.

no problem, doesnt hurt my feelings. smile.png I know when a line is dead. and yeah, I thought they would be dead as well. and those minimugg things are atrocious.

I hope I can score one online, as I'm too far away from SDCC.

Hasbro usually puts stuff online after SDCC, so no worries.

  5. And CBMM, sorry to hear about your bad experience. I used to frequent one in my mall, and the employees were fairly nice, but then I was mostly buying toys and knew what I wanted and where it was.

are these going to be a new tooling or basically, Halo 2.0?

...Are you asking if we're re-using Halo tooling for this? Or suggesting that Halo re-used a lot of tooling? I guess the latter is true, but any re-use in Halo was for color variations, and it used Halo-specific parts -- I don't think we re-used any from other lines.

Fairly certain this line will be all (or mostly) new tooling. It's about 50-50 alien-human, and some of the aliens have new head sculpts. Some have more skintight uniforms and clothing that is not sculpted, of course, but many of the armor pieces are not ones we can take from elsewhere.

Yeah just asking if Halo is going to be reused for Mass Effect. Glad to hear it's not! smile.png I dont mind reuse of parts, just so its not wide spread that lines start blending together. Thanks! smile.png

  6. The Aliens Dump will be a sell-out if it is produced in the same numbers as previous dumps . Longevity of the Aliens line ? That my friends is a different animal ......squeezing the pips out of any Minimate line has, IMHO, not always worked in the manner hoped for .

    Just ordered. Thanks Luke!

  7. Well I'm talking about collectible appeal. The Kubricks (for both old films and the Burton one, I believe) were distributed in the U.S., were not huge sellers, and could be bought for a song on the secondary market (or this used to be the case anyway. They may be worth a bit more now that the new movies have come out). The only other major toy line I'm aware of apart from MEGO--which isn't really applicable, being from a totally different time--are the NECA ones, which are targeting a pretty niche group. But to clarify--I can definitely see DST doing it, but I can't see them spending a lot of time and effort over a long period of time on it.

Collectible appeal may be changing. Burton's reimagining did nothing for the franchise. Rise of the Planet of the Apes had to overcome that flick and I'm reading nothing but praise for the sequel. How does that translates into merchandise in the long run? We'll have to see but I know nostalgia's a powerful drug or DST wouldn't have hung on to Star Trek all this time.

But I agree; it's not the kind of property I see DST spending a long time pursuing. It just happens to be my Holy Grail property for Minimates thanks to Mego. biggrin.png

    Ah! another mego collector!
