  1. Just stopped by my local "haunted" Toys R Us and BSG is warming 3 pegs. I went to every TRU in a 50 mile radius for 3 weeks straight and now the TRU down the road is stocked with them.

Maybe I should've been more patient. But I got mine 3 days before and they're still awesome.

They're in the Marvel minimate section.

And in the miscellaneous Sci Fi section, next to 7" BSG figs and Star Trek.

    Get 'em while you can.

  2. D'anna is mine, and is as perfect as ever.

So the adulation for the new D'anna, almost, almost got me to buy that pack. But I couldn't go through with it.

I don't know, is it just me? I'm not too crazy about the new D'anna pose. Does it even look like Lucy Lawless? The original one at least had cool drawn on cleavage.

  3. I've got "item numbers":

    Item #: 5837170

Item Name: Exclusive Battlestar Galactica Series 1 Minimates - Doraland Stealth Cylon

    Item #: 5837175

Item Name: Exclusive Battlestar Galactica Series 1 Minimates - Caviland Bloody Cylon

    Item #: 5837247

Item Name: Exclusive Battlestar Galactica Series 1 Minimates - Leobenand Starbuck

    Item #: 5837248

Item Name: Exclusive Battlestar Galactica Series 1 Minimates - Adamaand Razor Cylon

    Item #: 5837174

Item Name: Exclusive Battlestar Galactica Series 1 Minimates - D'Annaand Apollo

    Thanks for the numbers.

I called TRU customer service and they couldn't find the number on their main system. The service rep checked something else and told me that they were sold out. She also said the items were shipped on 6/14.

  4. Starting a new topic, because the BSG Minimates cancelled thread is 19 pages long and getting too unwieldly.

There's obviously a demand for the last waves of BSG minimates from the heavy response to the cancellation news.

I can see why they pulled the plug on the sets. BSG is a niche show on a niche channel. And the minimates are definitely a niche product. On top of that, these last waves of minimates aren't very riveting—the figures look like they could be someone shopping at your local supermarket.

Still, I'd buy them, if they were released.

Here's my suggestion on how Art Asylum/Diamond Select Toys can release them:

    1) Ditch the old distribution channel of independent comic shops and national chains--sell them online as exclusives direct from DST or AA.

    2) Don't worry about all that fancy packaging, save cost and throw them in a plastic bag, like at conventions

    3) Raise the price to help recuperate costs. Say $25 per pack? $25 for the chase?

    4) Limit the run to a lot less than before. Maybe as low as 100.

    5) Add some really attractive accessories to overcome the lameness of the figures

And how about this as an idea to release the Minimates Vipers (1980 & 2003 versions) and Raiders (1980 & 2003 versions)? They already have the prototypes, so why not cast up some resin kits?

Anyone have any other ideas, aside from reducing the number of figures released?
