  1. So, is this a new post indicator is really an unread posts indicator. Which is good, because I like unread posts indicators better.

Can this be set up so it doesn't depend on local cookies, since I hit this site from four or five different computers in a week. I know some boards can do that...

  2. So you know what you've just done Shanester? Since I can't be at SDCC, now you've got to get one for me... :P

Hmmm -- I see the fine print says something about "winning" these things. Well, if given the choice, I personally would go for white. ;)

  3. Wow. Thanks for the shopping trip, Mr E, that was fun! What a treat to see what a Japanese TRU is like.

I am so glad I'm not a packaging completist. That said, I'll probably have to score one just because... :rolleyes:Mr E, is there room in your recent purchases for me, just a single box?

I've got a lot of hope in this move by DST/AA. If miniMates can get recognition based not on their licenses but on the figure itself, who knows what we might see! And blind-box sales in Japan is a great step on that road. So the superhero lines wouldn't sell in Asia, I'll believe that, but here's to new, Asian original lines for miniMates!

  4. Dear Mother Earth! I was going to contribute to this thread, but Shanester has warped it beyond all recognition! (And ruined so many fond boyhood fantasies... RUINED, I tell you.)

However... a serious counter to Shanester's suggestion of expanding the other collectibles: It seems to me we don't want to go too deep into other toys, whatever, because it would be hard to draw those crowds here. Lego or Stikfas already have established boards, what would we offer that would bring them here? Crayfish's attempt with a unified Block Board was exciting to me, but it's failure also teaches a lesson.

That said, I would like to see some formal expansion beyond the single forum labeled "other." Not sure what just yet...

  5. At Jules. What a great and vivid picture!

Okay, July 24th, I can remember that -- it's Mrs Cappy's birthday. Sure wish I could be there for your stag party at SDCC.

Say, have you found a good beach webcam location so we can join you for the ceremony? Or at least the reception? :D

  6. My, I am finding nothing but Lightning McQueen's around here, with the occasional Mater. I remember with much regret seeing nearly all the cars at a Fred Meyer (Krogers) some two months ago.

I can only hope the ratios will even out again here in the next couple of months.

Riedeen1313, are you talking variants of the McDonalds toys or the Mattel cars?

  7. I might suggest that extreme patience is required here. I wouldn't think Bad Apple is intentionally screwing people; I suspect they are just your typical disorganized neighborhood comic store.

When my Orlando-based buddy went in to pick some up for me in person, right after monkey13 posted his pics, the guy at the counter didn't even know what my friend was talking about. There weren't any BA mates out front, the clerk had to go in the back to find them. huh.

  8. I can't help you with those Batmen directly, but I did find this archived on my hard drive:

    generic%20pose.jpg

It answers one question: those Bat dudes are not 3D rendered. It is date stamped November 17, 2003.

What my admittedly faulty memory chips can recall about this picture: I'm pretty sure I downloaded it from the AA Board (the original incarnation?). I vaguely remember a thread, probably in the customizing forum, where some one was asking for a miniMate template and a member provided this.

Sadly, I can't remember who the member was. My impression is that he was not one of the constant regulars, but not a one-time poster either (how's that for incredibly vague? heh).

But now you master detectives have a path to stumble down...

  9. Haven't seen the movie yet, but fully intend to. In the meantime, the Matchbox Cars have sucked me in... they're so darn cute and pretty decent quality.

neolego, I talked with one TRU clerk who said they fly off the pegs as fast as the store receives them. I suspect over time they will become easier to find, once the kids have had their fill of the movie. I hope.

Have you heard any rumor of case ratios? Are some rarer than others? I've had piss-poor luck finding many but would like to gather most of them. Surprisingly, I found some at a Walgreens...

Or even a list of characters available? A quick scan of eBay shows many chases out there and color variants not listed on the back of the blister card. hrrrm.
