  1. * ( I still enjoy the memory of the look on BHM's face from last year, as we entered the main hall for the first time and his brain was going into overload at exactly how big the show is!)

    Sounds like

    . :P

Seriously, I think this whole SDCC thing is great fun and I'd love to join you folks!

I agree! So awesome. I have only been the last two years but it's totally worth it. People bitch about the lines, I know cos I do too. But its worth it. Nothing beats that feeling of being around other people that love the things you do too. I'm smiling just typing this.....Damn you beer!!!!!!

  2. Comic-Con 2010 - IT'S ON!!

I just booked my room for SDCC 2010! The Hard Rock wouldn't let me but the Hilton San Diego Bayfront did. I stayed at the Hilton this year and the rooms are super nice with lots of room.

$387/per person (4 people) in a room. It's a little more expensive than what I paid this year, but at least I don't have to go thru the booking BS.

    Plan ahead kids!

    Kisses,

    jason

Is that $387 per person for 5 nights?

It seems to me that there are way cheaper options ( I lived in SD for 5+ yrs) hotel wise but I guess you want to be uber close to the Con?

    T.

Yeah, $387 per person for 5 nights. I went with a group of 4 and I think its a little moar for the 4 of us. I paid $355.00 this year for the room. The reason I liked the Hilton is its right across the street, so no cabs or trolley pass. They had $10.00 boxed lunches so no shit con food. You didn't have to stay there for the boxed lunches tho.

  4. For me, the neatest thing of all the neat stuff is the Twilight Zone fortune teller. I wish I had one of those.

Mystic Sneer!!! :woot: from the The Twilight Zone episode "Nick of Time." I have always wanted one too.

You can get them in August for $12.99 on the Entertainment Earth web site.

    Here is the link.

    Hope that helps,

    jason ;)

    PS

This is not spam or whatever. I'm just trying to help out and save someone some cash.

  5. I'm not a huge He-man fan but the book is pretty awesome. Only 1000 made and the nerds were going crazy for em. I went to the DST booth first on Wednesday and got most of my swag then. I had three other friends stand in the Mattel line from 6pm to 9pm (the whole time for Wednesday) and not get a chance to buy anything. I got my books early Thursday. They were $50.00 each and limited 2 per person. They are selling like crazy on eBay. You can make $200 easy. I'm going to wait a while and see what happens.

I dropped $1,400.00 on food, toys and booze.

    I win!

    Greetings mini friends!

SDCC 2009 was awesome and total chaos. I was there Wednesday thru Sunday and I tried to load up on as many minimates as I could. I hit the Diamond Select Minimate panel on Saturday at 12:00 and was a little disappointed at the low turn out. I will say this, Saturday was super crazy and a lot of big time panels were going on around this time. Damn you Miramax, 2012, Zombieland and Iron Man 2. I said, fuck you to my friends and hit the minimate panel alone. I’m sure you guys know the folks at DST but I didn’t. At times I felt like a “minimate fan boy†but the guys at DST were super cool and happy to talk shop. Total stand up guys!

One question at the panel that was asked was, why not make a stand for the mates that fly? Like the stands for Iron Man and Human Torch. The guys look at each other and say “great idea we are going to do thatâ€. I thought that was pretty cool and a great idea.

This pic is my haul for the 1st two days. I'm still waiting on Fedex, so moar to come.

    Easy,

    Jason4444 ;)

    Disclaimer:

I hope its ok to post this here. If not, let me know. Damn you beer!

Oh yeah, I did say that I was from the MMMV and I got big smiles!!!

Oh yeah, and I asked for Kang for you guys.

Oh yeah, and I think moar Secret Wars sets are going to happen!!! But don't quote me on that. :woot:

    FYI,

The Angry Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Bank sold out on the 1st day. The Ghostbusters two pack sold out on day 2 or 3.

Awesome swag there! I think I would kill for one of those He-Man art books (and the He-Man figure). Is the book as fantastic as I imagine it being?

  7. Hey folks,

This is a great idea. I'm going to SDCC again this year. If you need a item and are serious about it, let me know. I'm not looking to cash in on this. I'm looking to trade for my wants.

    My Marvel Minimates wants:

    Archangel (variant)

    Cyclops (No Visor)

    Elektra (black)

Silver Centurion (Silver and Red Iron Man)

    Spider-Woman 2 (black suit)

    Stealth Iron Man

    Super Skrull (huge want)

    Thor (bearded)

    Unmasked Daredevil

I'm going to try and find these but setting up a trade is just as easy. So let me know what you want and what's a fair trade from the item. When I get back from SDCC, I can mail it to you.

I can even email you my cell number and talk about it there at SDCC.

    This is win win!!

    jason

So, my only way of getting any SDCC exclusives, let alone the Minimate ones, has just announced that she won't even be buying anything for herself, let alone anyone else. So, I'm kinda screwed.

I'm making this thread (if it's in the wrong place, I apologize, and if someone could move it to where it needs to be, but will still be seen, please/thank you) not only for myself, but others in my position.

Is there anyone who is physically going to San Diego Comic Con, who could help out other board members, such as myself?

Post if you can help, or post if you need help (but mention how you plan to finance).

I need help, and I can pay upfront via Paypal.

    Anyone else?

  8. This sounds awesome. I'm down! Let the drinking begin!

    When and where???

Any one else going Thursday? Let's start a meeting thread? 21 and over? Let's get crunked! I used to live in San Diego my entire life, but recently moved to San Jose. I'm flying down for one day to attend the con. So if your going on thursday, or any other day post here and maybe we can collectively organize some sort of MMMV get together.
  9. I wanna Rick James minimate!!!!!!

:biggrin:Wouldn't it be sooooo cool if they could be minimates based off rock bands

My choice would be Blink 182

I mean we could have Travis w/drum sticks and a complete drum set(also with really good tatoo deatils)

We could also have Mark and Tom with guitars and microphones w/stands!

What band would you like to be minimated??

  10. Thank you for the reply!!

    They just don't fit.

Yep the 2.5" Figures are Minimates.

DST's rule for all minimates is that they are the same 2" scale, this started as a marvel license stipulation but the more licenses were produced DST liked everyone in scale and it became 'law for all licenses'.

Because these were DCD They had the final say (I hear rumors it was a heated debate!) on size and demanded 2.5" mates, So we ended up with some larger figures.

    T.

  11. Hello folks!

I'm into Marvel minimates so go easy on me.

I bought a DC collection from a guy and in the mix was these five 2.75 size figures. Are these DC minimates or maybe Kubricks? If so, why the size difference? I think one is Bane but I have no idea who the others are.

  12. Is there a price guide on the blank minimates? I'm not talking ebay here. I have two blue blanks from Wizard World Texas in 2005. I really would just like to trade them for other colors. I'm guessing a straight up trade is fair, or is it? Or are others worth more? I'm sure I need to lurk moar in the flea market section. But what about the value?

Actually the blue ones were harder to find because no hardly anyone went to WW texas ;)

So you should be able to trade for any other 2005 colors, fairly easily.

Other than that if you want to know relative values of minimates either ask one of the buys with high feedback or make a post and ask, Prices tend to fluctuate but we should be able to give you an idea.

    T.

Thanks!! I need to trade these cos I already have one and need all the others from 2005.

How do you build feedback on here? I'm guessing the blocks under your name is your feedback.

Being a newbie sux, kill me.
