  1. Joy. What did I tell you, New X-men Phoenix hair and Dark Phoenix belt equals Ms. Marvel!

and given Taskmaster sporting a bow, easy to guess Hawkeye would be along.

But yeah, it's another Wave 16 style fan-fest. This... THIS is the kind of varied character line-ups we like DST :)

  2. That's the double edged sword, DST/Marvel/Retailers get more excited about cross-media promotion that movie licensing represents and are more willing to open the purse strings for new molding (Spidey 3 I'm looking at you) as opposed to a more generic line, which would be less meanlingless fad based (movie and zombie mates I'm looking in your direction) and stand the test of time better if they can't be released on time (movie mates I'm glaring at you here).

  3. To quote one of my fav Midnight Oil tracks "Short memory, must have a..."

DCD mates were originally meant to come out in 2006 but were bumped back due to quality concerns

Wave One due Aug 06 actually arrived Feb 07

Wave Two due Oct 06 actually arrived March 07

Wave 3 due Dec 06 arrived April 07

Everybody bumps dates, sad fact is we just have to learn to live with it.

  4. But that would require an insane level of smoozing on DST's part to get the license early enough, and past experience (X-Men 3, Ghost Rider an Spidey 3) doesn't really indicate they could...

But at the other extreme I'm really running out of ideas for likely suspects for new waves :(

  5. This, along with the Giant Man and Wasp we're also getting, seems to indicate that there may be a second Avengers wave coming after the many series on the horizon. Think about it, we've seen Giant Man and Wasp (well, part of her), now these two and there are two major Avengers missing from the last wave, namely Hawkeye and Vision.

Zombie Wasp's hairpiece also indudes the top portion of her spine, so not reeeally viable for re-use.

  6. Hi Chuck, I was wondering how the character selection works for the marvel waves?

I'm not Chuck, but I can probably answer.

    :D

    *holds up "Not Chuck" placard*

    Red/grey rings = DST Choice

Outer White/Black ring = Retailer Choice

Inner White/Black ring = Marvel Choice

    Bullseye = Fan Preference

  7. I think people are missing the point, this is effectively just an uprated TRU 4-Pack, it was never intended to a box of entirely new mates, just away to get maximum use of stuff requested by Target, especially if Target have chosen to pull the pin and pass on their wave...

  8. Ah, the sweat laziness of uniforms allows Nicholas Fury to lead the might forces of SHIELD!

G.W. Bridge - Nick Fury mate with fully gray hairpiece and different face color/tampo

Dum Dum Dungan - Nick Fury mate Miniflyer Riddler hat and new face tampo

And if more than a little effort is allowed, ie full new paint tampos, *points at remaining unmade character in sig*

  9. Well Ultimate or more correctly modern Bagley Black Costume Spidey (as his later Amazing work featured the same tight look as he was forced to draw Venom more and more, and I question if Ulimate didn't have a complete join of symbols) is one option but the Melee one shows significant visual differences in design of eyes and spider symbol and yet DST still felt it wasn't unique enough to not compete against the existing Black costume mate without further changes.

  10. I think DST still wanted to make the black costume really distinct, even if the eyes and everything are different. But then Torment Spidey shows they aren't against revisiting older mates.

But at least while it is heavy with parts reuse (SFII fireballs, JJJ Mask, Visorless Cyclops hair) it's inventive and effective instead of somewhat dodgy of the main line wave such as the original Sandman mate.
