  1. People have made multiple customs before (I think boyd and Dinobot made 3 and 4 robots respectively) and it doesn't seem to affect the totals all that much. Although the year we made the least amount of money was the year we had the fewest customs. I say the more the merrier!

  2. It just a shame that someone at DC can't just say 'If it's working for Marvel, why don't we try doing the exact same thing'.

Exactly. I know it's kicking a dead horse but you'd think by now with Marvel at wave 45 and counting they would have rethought their decision to end the line.

Bottom line though the DC Minimates line must not have made money; if it did they'd still be making them.

  3. What's the URL to the Battle Beasts countdown page?

    Battle Beasts Countdown

That's the link but the countdown is over! And it was for DST's BB page which has nothing to do with the new Japanese Beast Saga figs. More info on the new Battle Beasts site and in the Battle Beasts thread. Everything before page 9 is about the Gators which seem to now be stand alone promos and won't be tied into the current story.

  4. I hope the head and body armor aren't all one sculpted piece. If it is it'll kill the Quark custom I was planning.

According to the design artwork, the head is supposed to be a slip-on piece over a regular Minimate head. I'm guessing that didn't change.

Looking at the control art, Vorin's head looks sculpted like Beta Ray Bill's. Does it say somewhere that it's a slip on mask? And the armor definitely looks separate from the head in the artwork.

I suppose we'll know soon enough!

EDIT: Full design sheet is up at CBR. Head and armor are definitely separate and it looks like the head could be a slip-on piece...

  5. Okay guys, why don't we settle on this?

Charitymates 6: And Thus The Creatures Played! supporting Right To Play

The 6th annual Charitymates customizing event has begun! Charitymates is an annual charity event held at the Minimate Multiverse. During this event, Minimate customizers (veteran and novice alike) create and donate a Minimate custom based on a theme chosen by the community. These one-of-a-kind creations are then auctioned off on eBay with 75% of the proceeds going to a specific charity (also chosen by the community) and the remaining 25% helping with the operation costs of the Minimate Multiverse. This year's theme is mythological creatures & characters! Your favorite myths come to life from Norse to Roman and from ancient to modern!

And Groundhog, are you still up for organizing? You'll be responsible for receiving the customs, photographing the group shot, and taking care of the eBay listing. I handed the first 3 (IIRC) and it's really easy.

And to the group: thoughts on a deadline? How's everyone with July 31st? That should give everyone plenty of time.

  6. Could someone explain to me the whole charity mates thing? What do we do with them after we've made them, how can I put them on eBay.(I order from eBay but I've never sold anything)

After the customs are created, the organizer of that year's project posts them on eBay so you don't have to worry about that! You're welcome to contribute a custom and bid on the entries though.

And check this link out for info on our past projects and you can check out Luke's Charitymates site as well.

  7. And I thought this year was mythological gods/creatures?

Yes, I thought that was the concensus. See below.

Here's a thought. What about constalations or figures from the zodiac?

Expanding on that idea, what about mythological characters? Roman, Norse, Greek, Hindu, Chinese - the list goes on and on - a plethora of creatures and characters to choose from!

Charitymates 6: Past Gods for a Better Future! (I know we haven't settled on this title yet)

As for the charity, how do people feel about Right To Play? It's listed on the eBay Giving Works site.
