  1. How many minimates fit into that multi-level box? I would love to have something like that (atleast for a hall of armors as was mentioned) but with how many minimates I have getting those for the whole collection would be unrealistic.

I personally display my minimates and the extras I have are in the little 2x3 ziplocs that I got at a craft store. I also store all my extra accessories in these with labels so I know who they go to. These small bags are then put into a larger bag in a box just like karamazov.

7 'mates per row, spaced evenly and not crowded.

Perfect for a wave of Marvel mates of 6 + 1 variant

Also it's worth noting that the black risers in this set are optional and are 3 seperate pieces that lock together, so you can position them however you want.

  2. My complete series are going in these:

My one-off specials (protos, gold/silver) are going in these:

There are various size Amac boxes, the ones that work the best for the standard size Minimates are the

    Amac Box Clear

    1-3/16" sq. x 2-7/16" h

    60260

    and

    Amac Box Clear

    1-5/8" sq. x 2-7/8" h

    60300

Edit: Luke - in case you want to look into carrying these for your store:

Looks like the 3 level display is exclusive to The Container Store, but Amac will sell you the clear boxes.

I also picked up one of these to organize my spare parts/mates:

    20" x 6-1/4" x 15-1/2" h

  3. The one thing that DST could benefit greatly from (and I'm assuming they don't have) is a group of collectors outside of their company that they bounce ideas off of before samples are produced and shown to retailers. I know it was brought up already in this thread, but I've thought about it a lot in the last few weeks that any company their size, that can't afford to make samples that never make it to production, miss out on the resource that is free and usually accurate-the fans.

Okay, so GH and I are forming the official DST MiniMate Consumer Illuminati, we've got 3 spots left...

EDIT: Will this eventually lead to MiniMate Civil War??? Secret Blammoid Invasion???

  4. Edit: It takes me so long to type that I now read youbastards post after I post my own ....only to find he's actually said what I've held back on saying. :D

    LOL, thanks BHM!

Sorry for the attitude guys, having a crappy day at work and saw a new Q/A was posted and I just let my frustration out!

I've stated before that I'm a Marvel line guy, but I've bought some Ghostbusters/BSG and plan to buy some Halo too.

I think the most frustrating thing to all of us is that we love these little guys so much, it kills us to see some of the decisions they make from a business standpoint. I truly beleive that this line could be so much more than what it is currently, if they would just listen more to what the fans want.

I'll say it right now, DST if you are reading this, I will work as a consumer consultant on the Minimate line FREE OF CHARGE if it means getting more product out there that we want to buy. Just PM me! ;)

  5. To me, the confirmation that we aren't getting a Final Battle Whiplash from IM2 is the biggest disappointment.

    :begin rant:

These Q/A sessions are really becoming a waste of time, IMO. DST should just change the question submission form to give you a "We currently have no plans, but you never know" answer when submitted.

Mark my words, the Pirates line will never come out, if they aren't even planning until 2011, then they aren't committed to the line and it's dead before it started. We may see a comic-con promo ala BattleBeasts, but that's it.

Also, after the initial release of the M.A.X. vehicles, DST will cancel the other 'planned' series that were previewed at ToyFair (police, emergency vehicles I think).

These lines are destined to fail, and we should see it now to avoid disappointment:

    - an ugly superdeformed Delorean/S.U.V. to support a line that hasn't had toys made for years.

    - a generic Terminator tank, also supporting a dead line.

    - a blackbird-style jet that they think X-Men fans will buy, but won't

How many times do we have to request blank minimates, DST? I've never seen a company so blatantly ignore what their consumers want.

Me: "Dear Kelloggs, I love Raisin Bran, but can you sell just Bran cereal without raisins?"

Kelloggs: "Fuck you consumer, pick out the goddamn raisins if you don't want them!"

    :end rant:

  6. youbastards, the detail on the wrists and ankles are done by making a stencil out of thin tape, wrapping this around the wrist/ankle and then painting over, then peeling it off. Then I just cleaned up any paint that had leaked under the tape with a wooden toothpick.

Any chance you'd be willing to share the stencil design you used?

  7. We just saw She & Him (Zooey Deschanel's band) in Royal Oak, MI last night, an awesome show.

However, 3 songs into the show Zooey asked the audiance to turn off the flash if you are taking pictures, but for the rest of the show, people kept using flash photography. It was so bad that you could actually see her attempt to cover her eyes or look away.

When did people stop having any type of courtesy? Has it always been this way, and I'm just at 'that age' where I notice it more?

  8. I picked up a bunch of the 3-tier display stands from The Container Store, and here's what I've done so far.

As you can see, I'm organizing by wave.

Oh yeah, and I'm also showing off my Gold/Silver Spideys I got. :)

  9. Dang! They all look great, especially Night Thrasher!!

(Oh, and I totally made a Maria Hill using an extra Movie Widow body, thanks for the inspiration!)

Thanks man, I've really been looking forward to getting a classic New Warriors set put together for a while.

Night Thrasher's helmet and Speedball are my hurdles at the moment. <_<

Namorita is mostly done, and I want to update Firestar a bit.

  10. Yeah, you're right, it's the foot loops that throws off the scale. I think with those gone then the scale would definitely be closer.

I just don't like the look of the Menace glider for Green Goblin and Hobby, it doesn't have that Goblin Glider feel that comes with the wings.

I'll take a stab at modifying it this weekend.

  11. Here's my updated Classic Nova, I wasn't too happy with the gold so I repainted him yellow. Luke's decal sheets should be coming soon, so I need to try and fix/replace my printer to make Nova's chest decal.

Here he's accompanying my Marvel Boy that I made too.

Here's my work in progress Night Thrasher...but I need help for head/helmet suggestions....PLEASE HELP!!!

    nightthrasher.jpg

Last but not least, I picked up a 3 3/4 Spider-Man "Air Assault Hobgoblin" today, because I thought the glider might work.

    What do you think?
