  1. well since it would be a separate line with two different release schedules. the way that having walking dead minimates doesn't affect the marvel release dates.

So one month Marvel movie wave 1 is released with Marvel Comics wave 62, two months later Marvel Movie wave 2. two months after that Marvel Movie wave 3 and marvel comic wave 63 etc etc...

its not about changing the numbers, it would be a separate line with its own schedule and line-ups independent of the comic line. We're not saying the waves would come out quicker it would just mean more comics waves that would come out. 7 waves out of 12 in the main line and 4 out of 8 in the TRU waves since the start of 2013 and(i'm including all announced upto Wave 59) have been Movie waves so 11 of out 20 waves are movies. Freeing up those waves would allow more comic mates, since there would be no need to divert into a movie for one wave since theres a separate line for that.

If DST were to renegotiate their license which they admit they do on a regular basis, working a second line based on the movies is not outside the realms of possibility.

  2. in a recent discussion I was asked what I would most like to see done with Minimates,

We all have licenses we'd like to see, DC Last Airbender etc but after discussing new lines, returning lines, and how i'd market say a no captain star trek line, I realised what i'd really like to see is a Marvel Movie Line. this year so many of the waves have been movies waves, I love the movies and I collect the mates as well but sometimes it would be nice to see a few more comic waves.

One of the complaints I hear often is how the Movie waves often have half the characters you want and sometimes TRU will carry the others(avengers), but i'f your like me and in the UK, TRU mates are not the easiest or cheapest thing to get. So I thought of a separate line for Marvel Movies, including Fox and Sony's movies as well. rather than one wave and a TRU wave with one or two characters that weren't in the LCS assortment, we get two waves, one before the movie hits and one after they don't all have to be different but a few exclusives in either wave even the return of single packs and maybe a boxset or two when you have a few characters that just cant fit into a wave. I'll use the Thor Waves/Sets as an Example but

    What We Got

    Thor (2)

    Destroyer (2)

    Odin (2)

    Loki (2)

    Coulson

    Jane Foster

    Sif

    Volstagg

    Civilian Thor

    Laufrey

    Asgardian Guard (2)

    Frost Giant 1 (2)

    Frost Giant 2

    Selvig

the numbers indicate how many times different waves/sets they appeared in wave 39/TRU/Single Packs. so for a total of 14 different when there was slots for 20. With the current Movie Waves taking 8 slots rather than 7 with an army builder. would have increased this movie to 21

    My Suggestion

    Thor

    Destroyer

    Odin

    Loki

    Coulson

    Jane Foster

    Sif Volstagg

    Civilian Thor

    Laufrey

    Asgardian Guard

    Frost Giant 1

    Frost Giant 2

    Frost Giant 3

    Selvig

    Hogan

    Fandral

    Shield Agent Barton

    Heimdall

    Darcy

    Frigga

So I said we can repeat characters but here we don't need to.Since it seems movie waves are going for a standard 8 unique with no army builder i'll use that as my standard so in our wave 1 remove one frost giant 1 and replace with Laufrey, in our wave 2 we replace Odin and Loki with the other members of the Warriors 3, Thor and Destroyer with SHIELD Agent Barton and maybe a different design for the frost giant. There we have 1

obviously every movie couldn't support two full waves of unique characters but just looking at say Marvel Studios Movies like Cap 1+2 my list of characters I wanted to see included

    Colonel Chester Phillips
    Dr. Abraham Erskine

    Jim Morita

    James Montgomery Falsworth

    Arnim Zola

    Sharon Carter / Agent 13
    Alexander Pierce

Thor 2 was missing Kursed and Bor of the top of my head

and some more of those iron man armors and a 1999 Happy Hogan from IM3, civilian Rhodey, Female Extremis Soldier, The President,

GoTG, a collector, his assistant, Thanos and his assistant, Howard the duck, those other Nova Corp officers and Glenn Close

what do people think, would you like to see the Marvel line Split into two one Comics the other Movies, one complimenting the other but not taking spaces away from some. It would be less frequent than the comic waves only being used when the movies are released or maybe using the waves between films to fill in gaps from older movies, cause I see so many holes in the MCU minimate line or figures that are so hard to find they might as well not exist. just a though I had anyway

  3. i'd really like to see a Morrison "New X-men " Wave and TRU wave

    Wave-55

    NXM Wolverine - Fantomex

    NXM Xavier - Cassandra Nova

NXM Phoenix - Stepford Cuckoo (with parts for others)

Here Comes Tomorrow Phoenix - Stepford Cuckoo (with parts for others)

    TRU Wave

NXM Emma Frost - Stepford Cuckoo (with parts for others)

NXM Xorn (with Alt Magneto Head and pieces to create Planet X look) - Quentin Quire

    NXM Beast - Beak

    NXM Cyclops - Angel

all the X-men from the period, a villain plus some popular characters that were in the Planet X brotherhood

always making the sets heavy with high profile characters and pairing b and c list characters together always seem to a lot of peg warming so maybe pairing A listers with B listers might reduce that.

toyed with also putting in EVA human form, Dust, Here comes Tomorrow Beast, and was dedating whether Emma shoulg have been the Variant with Human and Diamond Form. but i suppose having

  4. Multiple Man coat is already brown, so use that. The SM3 Eddie Brock chestpiece is what I have on my gordon. The only grey hair i can think of would be old man logan or magneto.

the fact it was already brown was the reason i thought of it, but it's a very dull brown and doesnt have the high collar he is normally drawn with. i don't mind painting things if its just gonna be one solid colur, detail is something i need practise with. With the hair it's mostly the right shape i'm looking for rather than the colour. i had thought of the Eddie brock chest piece but though it would work better with a bullock custom.

I used the animated Egon hair on mine. I still need a custom face decal.

it's a bit to cartoony for what i'm wanting, but thanks for the suggestion. I think luke has a Gordon decal at the factory, if that helps.

  5. I recently picked up a small bat-signal toy that is just a bout the right scale for minimates so i've decided to try and make a diorama of the GCPD rooftop to feature it with Commisioner Gordon. Before starting on the diorama i want to try and make the commisioner my idea is to try and avoid using decals/stickers and painting to a minimum, trying to keep it looking as offical as i can.

So my plan is essentially to cannibalise some other figures. I'm not sure whether to make a grey haired version or the ginger Year one/DCnU look but currently my plan consists of the Thunderbolt Ross head from the Hulk Movie wave and the tie neck piece from any mate with it. the legs will probaly be from a howard stark that is already being used for other parts on another custom and i cant decide between the IM2 Nick Fury coat or the multiple man coat.

Any suggestion for a hairpiece, chestpiece and coat, thanks

  6. I have to hop in and defend Morrison here: he did not, IMHO, f*ck up Batman. He did some wacky, wacky stuff, for sure, but at the other end of it, he'd taken a character that hasn't had a breath of fresh air since Frank Miller turned him into the Dark Knight*, and made his mythos interesting again. There was only so long they could keep rehashing the tortured, stoic warrior thing until it was really time to deconstruct what made Batman who he is, break him down into the elemental form of Batman-ness, and build him back up into something new. Grant Morrison is just the crazy bastard to do things like that. I've been confused as hell every time I've slogged through one of his blow-ups of a title (JLA, X-Men, Animal Man, Batman), but I've been happier with the character as a result.

*Actually, I'll append that: not since Morrison himself took the Dark Knight thing to a new level in his run on JLA, and came up with the idea of Batman keeping files on how to kill all of his friends...

totally agree with you. Batman had become a very stale character and by pulling in the entire history and getting this batman of every era thing is so much better than the "I am Vengeance Batman" we'd had since years one, although i do love alot of the stories since then.

hey, what was it Shakespeare once said... "I could never agree with your statement, but your opinion is still more than welcome!"

The only thing of Morrisons I've read that wasn't self indulgent tripe was All Star Superman (and that because you can sort of get away with that sort of thing with Supes... Jesus metaphors n' what not). Give me a good, well thought out detective story over RIP, Final Crisis, Prometheus the anti-Batman, killing Bruce and making him a pirate and caveman or, must I say it... Damien bloody Wayne.

That said, I do see (and respect) your point Lob... would you say he gave Bat's 3rd dimension, an extra dimension... or something?

i've heard you shit on damian wayne before and i really can't understand why.

  7. I'm kinda split on how i feel.

I like the idea of a new jumping on point and updating some of the history is ok especially with the JSA, the way they did it on smallville was inventive and original. by rebooting the entire thing at the same time DC can avoid such major continuity mistakes such as post COIE hawkman and maybe they can fix the whole green arrow situation where all the Arrow related charcters have been written into oblivion.

on the other hand this reboot on the surface seems to be the equivalent of One More Day/Brand New Day just on a larger scale, the current people in charge don't like the way previous writers have shaped what exists. So rather than come up with an interesting and creative way to change things they just reboot everything. Things like Flash rebirth, War of the green lantern, Legacy characters(Tim drake, jaime reyes, damian wayne, bart allen), everything post infinite crisis will be swept away as nothing more than a stain on GJ and DD memory.

Characters like Wally West and Dick Grayson will be set back years in terms of characterization that they had achieved by becoming heroes in their own rights right and then replacing then being able to be standing side by side equal with their mentors.

Now I know GJ loves Hal but i didn't know he loved him so much he wants to be like him and become Parallax, rebooting the DCU.

i will probably stop reading for a few years. maybe pick up the annual Crisis on New New Earth team up special with the New New Earth JLA and the New Earth JLA. i will definitely come back when they print Ultimate Crisis where everything is rebooted again to the pre-Geoffallax DCU and just to make them happy we can get another brand new set of Issue 1's

  8. since nimrod is in the now standard army builder spot in this wave does that mean that nimrod actually is the army builder?

i've not the x-books in a few years, but when i did i'm sure that there was only one nimrod a sort of super sentinel.

just wondering is there more than one now, is there an alternative look underneath the chest piece.

i'v been buying custom or full cases from Luke for the past few waves, but don't want to put the extra money out if its just for extra superfluous mates.

  9. just wondering if anyone else has noticed that War Machines Gauntlets are wrong on the minimate? i thought it would be mentioned in the review, but if you atch the movie you can see that the guns are on the side and underside of the arm not on top. it can be fixed easily by just swapping the gauntlets over on the minimate that is if you want a more screen accurate War Machine.

i just thought someone would have noticed this before

  10. Hair - I would use the Punisher War Zone Jigsaw or the Ultimate Avengers Tony Stark

Head - maybe a slightly modified DCD Hal Jordan Green Lantern?

Cape/Hood - I would just paint a Moon Knight set brown, if that is the cape/hood you mean? If you don't want to paint, there aren't currently a lot of options for brown hoods/capes. Old Man Logan?

EDIT: Yeah, Nightwing mask would work better...

I had thought about the Moon Knight Cape/hood but the cape is too large and flowing for the robin cape. My original though was the hood from this Rocky mate.

can I ask why you'd want a Damian Wayne minimate?

EDIT - sorry, thats not very helpful at all now, is it? Perhaps a spectre hood and cape or the cloak effect? I'd probably go with an SM3 Eddie Brock for the head/hair... only a little painting to stick a mask on and recolour the hair... its the right style, and the sneer would certainly suit him.

No its not and the question is "why wouldn't i want a damian wayne mate?"

  11. i'v been thinking about a Damian Wayne robin custom for the past few weeks

so far i'v thought of these parts which could be used with as little modification as possible

    DCD Robin Torso

    DCD Robin Skirt

    Black legs

    Black Crotch

    Black Arms

Hands (will paint these to match the gauntlets)

    C3 Batman chemical warehouse Gauntlets

    DCD penguin feet

need help with the cape, hood, head and hair.

was thinking of the C3 nightwing head for the mask but any suggestions appreciated
