Awesome. Any brand suggestions or websites?

Ive come across many cool lego building and megablock building sets and I was wondering what are the best buildings and vehicles for mates without paying too much? THe megablock stuff isnt too expensive and looks nice but legos look amazing but are bit too much for me. I basically want to make a little city, two or three small buildings and some vehicles. Any help is apreciated
