  1. it has been said a few times, theres certainly no sense of anyone trying to 'win' at the forum, which is common place on the internet. I don't post to often, but check this place everyday, so it feels like a second, or third home. For me, its got to be the customs... some of the things i've seen bring a smile to the mouth and a tear to the eye.

also... this is where I find out what the hell is going on release-wise, etc.

  2. thanks for all the kind words guys/gals

Glantern - oh, trust me... a lot of your stuff is on my 'to do' list, with that impressive grid of DC designs n' what not.

Nessex - funny you should say that... I don't want to rush him and i'm very busy at the moment (final few weeks of university), so in the mean time i've been working on Poison Ivy and Scarecrow!

just peered up at my mates' shelf... other WIPs that are visible (not having fallen over!) are Jim Gordon, Animal Man anf a 3" Hulk

  3. now, all i've got is a pretty average camera phone, so the photo quality is far from great, but its the best I can do! I think the important parts are in focus at least.

    Business Suit Lex Luthor

i've not made many customs, but I was far from happy with my original, so decided to re-do this one as i'd always intended, with a proper suit chest piece (President Parmer, 24... I believe!). Twas a toss up between the president and the animated look.

    DSC00070.jpg

    The Super Jew

well, this one I finished some time ago... its me, the Super Jew! A British hero from WWII, who fought alongside Captain America, before joining the modern day Justice League! Completely repainted, C3 Batman belt, the wrist thingys came from Wonder Woman, I think. Head and hair from the SM3 Peters.

    DSC00072.jpg

    Black Canary

This was VERY heavily influenced by Glantern's... although I opted for bare legs, and slightly shorter sleeves on the jacket.

    DSC00055.jpg

Any comments are more than welcome, hope you guys like 'em

  4. http://www.marvel.com/seventy_years/countdown/voting/

so anyone done this yet, seems like a cool idea, not to mention you get to look at some fantastic artwork

and you get to vote each day for your top 5! already got my votes in for today B)

wow, i'd not seen this... can imagine it'll take up a lot of my time today!

as i've already got some spider-man covers up, i'm going to have a good look and print a load of these off and put them up on my bedroom wall at uni. on good quality paper they look fantastic

  5. righto, it's been a while... I've been very busy with life n' such for quite some time, these three I actually

finished last summer, but haven't got around to sticking them up here for y'all. Fingers crossed i'll have a

bit more free time from now on, so i'll be able to get back into customising on a regular basis.

    Ras al Ghul

pretty straight forward, cape (collar cut down) and skirty thing are from dr.strange, re-painted. Hair is

Dr.Strange as well I believe, but I definately altered it... somehow, a bit. Defenders' Namor chest, Valkyrie

sword (yes, I had a spare Defenders box kicking around). The head was a Dr.Fate, blackened eyebrows,

removed the goatee and stuck his tufty bits on.

    DSC00038.jpg

    Superboy

Jeans and head from one of the McFlys, BTTF series 1 I think. Chest (and hair) were BD Supes, obv.

    DSC00039.jpg

    Wonder Girl

Cassie, this is pretty much what she look like when I first really became aware of her, used one of the

pictures on DC wiki as source material. Gwen Stacy head/hair. Altered Wonder Woman torso, and the

trainers were from the same BTTF McFly.

    DSC00040.jpg

Hope you like, may have a couple more up in the next few days.

oh... and while we're here, some 'control art' for the two-face I keep putting off... really want to save it for

a time I can give it my full attention).

  6. i've just this minute finished watching this (the end credits are still playing in the background in fact), and i thoroughly enjoyed it. sure, t'wasn't the best film i've ever seen, but certainly wasn't the worst. I don't know much, at all... about the punisher comics, although i do like the character, and Stevenson seemed pretty much what i'd expect in terms of a big screen adaption. The main villians were pretty poor, they didn't seem threatening at all, especially loony bin, who did however manage to make castle forget how to fight properly during the fisty-cuffs near the end.

it did make me want to find out more about the punisher comics n' such... which i'd say is a strong indication of how well a film like this has done. would i be right in assuming Ink and Micro are pre-existing characters?

and... in terms of the mates box set (which i was planning on getting anyway, but has now moved up on my priority list), i was under the impression the guy with the busted noes was supposed to be a generic thug, but now i know (and thats half the battle, apparently)

EDIT - of corse, it was rather cheesey at times, and i chuckled at parts you really weren't meant to (as well as bits you were)

  7. i too saw it last night, wonderful film. i'd not read the book until a few months ago, but the inpact it seems to have had was incredible. everytime someone or something appeared i'd give a sly knowing smile, and quite a few times i'd have to make a conscious effort to not well-up... c'mon, the 'times are a-changin' minutemen montage! that was one of the most moving things i've ever seen in a film. it was like i knew everyone up there, and i'd been personally involved with the events i was witnessing on screen.

it's pretty normal to discuss the film you've just seen on the way out, however i'd gone with my housemate (who thoroughly enjoyed it), his girlfriend (who simply complained it was too long) and his friend who was staying with us (who said it was one of the worst films he'd seen). i nearly put an axe through his skull there and then.

  8. i'd say watchmen and the batman stuff mentioned are pretty definitive... great stuff indeed

thought i'd mention a few i've enjoyed fairly recently, all pretty cheap and easy to get hold of:

    'Marvels'

    Superman: Birthright

    World War Hulk

    Green Lantern: Rebirth

... '52' and 'Cable & Deadpool' also get thumbs up from me

  9. Anyone out there have the 12" medicom Snake?

    are they the RAH figures?

i've got an old 12" solid snake figure from the first game, which was impossible to track down and cost a small fortune. Rather irritatingly for me, they re-released them recently to celebrate the anniversary.

  10. No more Smallville? there goes my Laura Vandervoort Supergirl figure. I will be keeping my fingers crossed for a Dark Knight movie minimates boxed set for the DVD release:

    Batman

    The Joker

    Two Face

    Scarecrow

    Gordon

I would buy this in an instant. Maybe some exclusive packs with Harvey and Rachel, or Alfred and Bruce? I guess I am asking for too much... but that would complete things for me!

Maybe a Batman Begins set with

    Batman

    Rachel

    Alfred

    Bruce

Ra's Al Ghul (Real Ra's. Not fake Ra's)

And a Dark Knight part 2 set

    Harvey Dent

    Lucius Fox

    Nurse Joker (with detoator.)

    Clown goon

Final Battle Batman (With white eyes and damage)

i'd love batman movie mates, but would feel somewhat conned if we got a box set for each film, and ended up without a scarecrow, and proper purple suit joker

EDIT - sorry, ignore me... just realised that's a part 2 box set!

  11. despite the small fortune they seem to be worth! i do enjoy this place on a daily basis, and would much prefer them to go to you guys than ebay.

Good man Bobafett. I applaud you for trying to help out fellow collectors rather than going for the big bucks on e-bay.

    Toy Karma is good.

    thanks rad!

just came on to let people know i couldn't get time of work, so it seems i'll be going up there next week after all... i am very, very sorry for keeping people in suspense... i did try! i work weekends as well, but get at least one day off a week, so that'll be when i get my chance

  12. i know my LCS has dozen of the x3 mate 2-packs still, including quite a few of the variant pack for no more than £5-6 each. not having the money at the time, nor knowing ow rare they seem to be, i've never purchased any... i think now i'll pick the whole lot up, stick on ebay... or see if any of you guys here fancy them. i shant get a chance to go along til at least next weekend, but they've been there since they came out.

I don't think you'll be able to see anything through the flood of PMs. :)

    i have received a few!

right, as i said it'd be a while 'til i next got along there, as i'm currently inbetween houses... but due to the interest i'd feel like a complete *not nice word* if i let everyone down, so permitting i'm not needed at work, will try and get there on monday/tuesday. what is usually my LCS is about 2hrs away at the moment, but i've been meaning to go back up north to pick up my swanky tele (so i can finally get MGS4!) and get myself the latest DC mates. i know someones replied in this thread, and i've got the PMs... all i can promise at the moment is that i know what order you guys replied in, and that's the fairest way to go about it.

despite the small fortune they seem to be worth! i do enjoy this place on a daily basis, and would much prefer them to go to you guys than ebay.

what i would like to know... as this thread was started about x3 mates in general, as they all worth picking up? or would people turn their noses up at, say, beast and juggernauth (bitch!). if these are wanted, speak up, for forever hold your peace... so far its only been wolvie & jean/pheonix requests

  13. when i first heard about that avengers cartoon, i assumed, and probably hoped it was in fact just a joke... apparently not!

wolvie n' the x-men looks good, same style as spectacular spider-man (which i loved... especially the theme tune!), right?

not sure if it'll compare to the 90s cartoon... although spectacular spider-man gets my vote over those spidey ones.

  14. i know my LCS has dozen of the x3 mate 2-packs still, including quite a few of the variant pack for no more than £5-6 each. not having the money at the time, nor knowing ow rare they seem to be, i've never purchased any... i think now i'll pick the whole lot up, stick on ebay... or see if any of you guys here fancy them. i shant get a chance to go along til at least next weekend, but they've been there since they came out.

  15. the others i do want to get my hands on came out before i started collecting mates, and are now too pricey, such as Jonah, Raft Sentry... and i wouldnt turn my nose up at a Stealth Iron Man.

I had an unopened Sentry pack on eBay twice, with a starting bid of 10 bucks, and the only taker during one of my posts (for the minimum bid), didn't pay. Then, I had it here in the sell/buy thread, basically since its inception, and just sold it last week.

Just sayin', I don't think that he is too pricey ;) . Maybe you saw an aberrant auction somewhere or something that colored your perceptions?

oh right, shame i missed that... i suppose i've just been looking at bad times. whenever i've checked, it's not been so much a case of price, but there's usually only 1 or 2 on there, and they're not shipping to the UK. i'll have to keep a closer look, even email sellers to see if they'll let the little fella cross the pond.

  16. 2. Black Spider-Man

    17. Transformation Venom

    18. Mary Jane

...that's it, there's so many variants i have absolutely no interest in, and quite frankly, don't really have any point, e.g. unmasked daredevil, unmasked doom, no visor cyclops, etc.

the others i do want to get my hands on came out before i started collecting mates, and are now too pricey, such as Jonah, Raft Sentry... and i wouldnt turn my nose up at a Stealth Iron Man.

Angel wont be a problem due to it's recent release, and fully intend to get General Ross, and the mk.II Iron Man, then stick the spare Rhodes head on wave 23 War Machine

  17. saw it yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Went into it a tad apprehensive, and having enjoyed 'Hulk' maybe there was a little bias against this one. Thought it was incredible (i wrote that before even realising the pun... sorry), the fight sequences were so well done, im sure i even tried to dodge the helicopter propeller! So much happened, which was perfect as the film moved along so quickly.

all the main characters were well done and i found myself liking them all... especially super soldier Blonsky, running and jumping around without breaking sweat! The tie-ins were all there, Cap, Avengers, etc. I didn't think they'd make the whole Leader thing that obvious, but i suppose there are non-comic fans who aren't aware of the name Sterns.

as for Doc Samson... he was in the trailer, but the scene, amongst others weren't in the final movie for some reason... you know the bit were Bruce says something along the lines of 'there are aspects of my personality i can't control' and the reply is 'see a shrink'. i'm certain that guy has been creditted as Samson, and isn't the same guy as Betty's new fella.

... i didn't wait til after the credits, after the Iron Man thing i assumed i'd have heard about any end-of-credits shenanigans by now, plus we'd already had the Stark bit... i take it i was not wrong in this assumption?

    overall... 8/10 from me,at least!
