  1. Hey all,

Really silly question but didn't the quiz on the DST MySpace page say that we would be getting a Dress Uniform Scotty however from all the pictures, I am only seeing the normal TWOK Scotty instead?

    Take care,

    Matty-lad

    this is dress uniform scotty:

    http://tf08.figures.com/showphoto.php?photo=1001

well, at least i think it is.

thats engineering scotty from twok, all he needs is a dead cadet "he stayed at his post, while the other cadet's ran"

    and here

    http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/main/wp...ir08/rocky3.jpg

you can just about see packaged shot of wave 3 under the rocky 3 minimates!

I'm just stoked to get a hard drinking aged Scotty & a hard-eating, even harder-lovin' and cheekily rotund Captain Kirk :D

Bring on the Stargate movie 'mates then i'd have James Spader as Daniel Jackson so i'd have a fighting chance of doing those Boston Legal 'mates I've always dreamed of lol!

Edit: Ohh Ohh A Kurt Russell as Jack O'Neill for a wee Snake Plissken and a Richard Dean Anderson as Jack O'Neill for a kick-ass wee Macgyver!!!

  2. I don't usually pick up Marvel 'mates but both of those waves are a must!

The IM movie line looks like Proto-Mk 1 Armour/Captured Tony, Civvies Rhodey/Cruel,Heartless Arms Exec Tony, Modular Mk2 armour with Tony details/Virginia "Pepper" Potts & Mk 2 Armour/Ironmonger. WOO!

All in all a top lineup, Add Nova/Gamorra & War Machine/Spymaster (Not really fussed about Cloak & Dagger though), Star Trek Series 4 & 5, BTTF 2 & 3, DC Series 8 & Platoon 'mates and you've got the equivalent of a junkie being given a blind eye, a syringe and the key to the police evidence room for a couple of hours....

My wife is currently looking for a good divorce lawyer BTW Any ideas?

  3. Holy sh*t! That's brilliant!

BTW Am i the only one who's desperate for the Ambush Bug mini?

i'm looking forward to customizing him into a dead nude autopsy skrull from the secret invasion promo pages

    Ambush Bug! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

  4. Is this Biff called "Future Biff" on the package? This is actually 1985-A Biff, from the nightmare alternate version of 1985, which wouldn't technically be the 'future'.

Sorry, my mistake. It's called "Alternate 1985 Biff Tannen" on the package.

    I'm fired.

Why don't you make like a tree, and get outta here!

    ps. Great pics!

Hey! Leave the poor guy alone....

You know what you are. Bean?

    You're as much use as a screen-door on a battleship!! ;)

    Sorry, Had to be done...

  5. Just got these today, and I have to say, DST is winning me over with the EntertainMates (I just made that up. Chuck, have your people call my people). They're really stepping it up in terms of detail and volume of accessories on these to make for really fun sets. I also find myself liking the four-pack format a lot. You get a good fix without the glut feeling a six- or eight-figure wave can give you. Okay, who am I kidding, I have no problem shoveling over for eight figures at a time. But the four-pack is still nice.

Sorry in advance for my crappy camera. I really need to invest in a better rig...

    Future Marty

    martyboard1.jpg

Really fun figure. The hoverboard is awesome. And yes, it has sculpted detail on the bottom (forgot to take a pic of that, but you can kind of see it here).

    martyboard2.jpg

    martyboard3.jpg

Accessories also include jacket and high-top sneakers. This is the face that actually comes with this figure; I like the Marty in Disguise face a little better, so I swapped it for display, as seen in the first pic.

    martyboard4.jpg

I'm really impressed with the tampo detail on this figure in particular. They even got the imprint on the elbow rivet. All in all, my favorite figure of the bunch.

    Future Doc Brown

    doc1.jpg

This was my least favorite of the set. Mostly because it's going to take a bunch of PIA customizing to make him right, and it's going to nag me until I do it.

    doc3.jpg

Doc comes with glasses and a coat – and it's a new sculpt, not just a repainted wave one coat, to which I tip my hat. However, I would have preferred the shirt and tie to be tampo'ed details rather than sculpted, so the shirt could have had the cool kanji symbols all over it. That's mod number one.

Mod number two is the sculpted head. I just can't abide it. So, I'll have to dremel it out and fit it on a real head, thusly:

    1955doc.jpg

Such will be the fate of every other sculpted head you throw at me, DST. Do you hear me? I won't abide them.

Anyhoo, they tried to do something sort of cool with the glasses by making them removable. Close, but no cigar. When they're off, he has two big ole' holes in the sides of his face. When they're on, the tampo doesn't line up quite right:

    doc2.jpg

    Marty in Disguise

    martyblack1.jpg

Not much to say about him. The face is better than Future Marty's face. And the leather jacket will be handy if you plan on doing a Danny Zucco custom for your Grease diorama. Which I don't. But maybe you're into Grease or something.

    martyblack2.jpg

Hat and jacket, that's about it.

...and the surprise second-favorite of the set

    Future Biff

    biff1.jpg

I was all ready to call Doc my second favorite, and probably sell or trade off Disguise Marty and Future Biff. But then this stone cold fricking pimp comes in and eats Doc's lunch.

    He's got muttonchops.

    biff2.jpg

Yeah! Muttonchops! Sculpted right on there! And a stylin'-and-profilin' butterfly collar! And a Rolex! Come on. This guy rules, does he not? Oh, yes, Biff will show you the pimp hand if you disagree.

    biff3.jpg

What? You want to see the pimp hand? Yeah, you better run.

    Hey 'Wink!

You get these from Limited Edition?

Any idea If they have any left?

  6. well it looks Mr bean that your LCS is going to get loads of orders :)

I've got the number for em as I've had stuff from them before but a shout out when they get stock would be great!

I'll second that request...Just received my Trek series 2 mates from Winkerbeans LCS after his recommendation, Can't thank Paul enough for the great customer service and prompt delivery, Totally my UK shop of choice from now on...

  7. Here's the thing....

I was thrilled yet strangely depressed when I saw the the pics of the Retro Galactica packs,

    Why? I hear you ask...

Because, They come with Starbuck in his dress finest and not his regular Colonial uniform, G.U.T.T.E.D!

Will anyone else be buying more than one Colonial pack In order to have a Starbuck with a flight uniform and an Apollo with a dress uniform?

Any other ideas circulating about retro custom jobs out there?

  8. Barcley's a must, because we're getting a classic Starbuck & if, if.... we get a Rocky series 3 we're gonna get a Mr T, that would mean that we're 1 away from the A-Team

And if we get a A-Team box set in the future we can do it vice-versa

Lol! A dude after my own heart, Winkerbean!

I'd saw off my grans leg for the 'Team' in minimate form...

What other francise could they do that would give us a George Peppard figure?

Battle Beyond The Stars maybe? Battle Beyond The Stars

Course, then you'd have to start making a crazy Man From U.N.CL.E./Waltons/Banacek crossover collection as well...I'm not really sure that'd sit well with my mental stability, lol!

  9. They're almost finished with the core cast of TOS with wave 3 (The lack of aliens/adversaries is a little odd, I would rather have had a kick-ass wee Romulan centurion rather than Vina bundled with Kirk,

Technically I think she should have shipped with Pike, given their history together, although Trek would'nt be Trek without a smokin' hot green babe for the Mini-Shat to mack on  ),

So logically they need to now go Classic Movies, TNG, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise, so every subsequent 2 or 3 waves would concentrate on a specific show,

My ideal choice for Wave 4 + 5 would probably be a mix of seasons 1-7 of TNG:

    Choices include...

Capt Picard (Variant Captains casual uniform from Darmok)/Q (In Judges robes)

Commander Riker/Cmdr La Forge (wt Toolkit)

Lt Data (With Spot the cat)/1st Appearance Ferengi

Gowron/Lt Worf (Both Sculpted ridges and Worf variant wt Klingon armour)

Dr Crusher/Wesley Crusher (wt variant Zombie edition  )

    Commander Sela/Reunification Spock

    Lt Cmdr Deanna Troi/Borg Drone

    Lt Tasha Yar/Guinan

    Dr Pulaski/Lt Reginald Barclay

    Ensign Ro Laren/Lt Tom Riker

  10. my lcs based in plymouth have some coming over from the states as we speak (i'm waiting on a set aswell) they got naffed of waiting for the UK supplier to get them, they take paypal and ship recorded delivery at no extra cost, their wave one's were £15 a set (without variant) so the wave 2 should be the same :)

    hope this helps

    ltded@blueyonder.co.uk

    That's great, Winkerbean,

You could'nt message me the details for your LCS so I can give them a shot?

  11. Hey

I've been trying to get the series 2 Trek mates here in the UK and tried to order then from Forbidden Planet and Starstore online but seeing as I only have a debit card and no cheque book forbidden planet won't take my payment and Starstore were out of stock :(

And before anyone suggests eBay, The only ones I can see are in the US or Canada and it'll take over 2 weeks to come from the States and potentially over 2 months from Canada!!

Can anyone suggest a UK based web store or LCS that sells mates and accepts Paypal, or would anyone be kind enough to pick me up a set (I'm not fussed about the Sulu variant) and send them out to me...

I'm based in Edinburgh, Scotland so any advice would be great!

    Cheers Folks

"Help Me Minimates Central, You're My Only Hope!" ;)

  12. I really have to admit I am just not "feeling" these 2" Star Trek Minimates. They just don't look right to me. I dunno what it is. Maybe the fact I thought they were captured well enough in 3" in the first place?

I really like them, The facial detail is a little too simple for me, although you can still tell who the character is meant to be, (Scotty needs to cheer the f**k up tho' :) ) but...They really need to diversify into the other ST properties in order to keep fans happy,

They're almost finished with the core cast of TOS with wave 3 (The lack of aliens/adversaries is a little odd, I would rather have had a kick-ass wee Romulan centurion rather than Vina bundled with Kirk,

Dr Crusher/Wesley Crusher (wt variant Zombie edition :whistling: )

    Commander Sela/Reunification Spock

    Or something like that.. :)

  13. Nice pictures..

All in all, I like this series but I think the Gorn should have shoulders, maybe a chest piece with the tunic(?) sculpted on and green pads for the shoulders, It just looks a little off with the tunic just hanging there :D

Also, the hair for Chekov just isn't looking right, He needs to have a do' thats a little more bowl-cut with a flick because he was always supposed to look like teen heart-throb Monkee Davy Jones to attract the hip, groovy youngsters..See..

    Chekov..The Truth!!

    200px-PavelChekov2267.jpg

Just my 2 cents, I'll still be buying them when they arrive at my LCS ;)

  14. ...I've always tried my best with the content and every review I have done has a lot of "me" in it, if you know what I mean.

Mayhap that's why people have such a strong attraction to the site? :)

The appeal of the site for me is just that, I like the fact that Central can review a toy and not be afraid to point out the faults instead of being slavishly fanboyish like some sites,

Looking forward to the DC reviews btw..Good going!

  15. Hey

Not sure if this is the right part of the forum to post this but here goes...

Do the guys behind the ever wonderful and recently rejuvenenated Minimates Central ever plan to do reviews of the DC, Star Trek, 24, Fistful of Dollars etc 'Mates?

It's great to see them featured in the Minimate Headquarters database, but the full reviews are so great and informative on Central,

Or will it just be Marvel, C3 and early licences for the foreseeable future?

I know It's probably a case of lack of funds and possible limited availability of minimates, but i'd love to see them review the other lines,

Pipe dream...or...Potential joy for all? :)
